thats awesome! i wish there was someone here that sold that that cheap.
Thanks mate. I got it quite a bit cheaper then that ebay isting, partly because I got it uncoated. The rogue one isnt far off pricewise though if you are looking for one. http://www.roguefitness.com/mini-deadlift-bar-jack.php
This doesn't quite compare to the purchase above me, but this little badboy arrived in the post for me today. It was custom made by a guy who fabricates stuff on ebay. I just sent him a pic of a mini jack from google, and told him the bar height, and speced it in bare steel. I chose this stye as its super compact. I'll be adding some rubber/plastic myself to protect the TPB knurl.

Very nice, P&I.
I've been wanting one of thse for a while now, but what I really need to do is drop the cash on a bit of steel and make my own. Hell, if I buy enough steel to make three of them, I could sell the other two and then mine would be free...
I understand completely. I think he should do whatever he can to maximize the return on his investment. It won't cost him anything to run it by Vinko, so I'd definitely recommend doing it.
On the bright side, regardless who made the plates, xephonics isn't all that far outside Atlanta and shouldn't have any trouble moving the ones he doesn't want. :)
Enjoy whatever scheme the two of you cook up! Looking forward to hearing the story! :)

No scheme, and I don't even know xephonics, but 45's generally don't sit very long in the Atl. area.
I'm thinking the ones marked "Olympic Standard Barbell" on the left may be vintage Ivankos....It's hard to tell for sure, but I would try to find that out, as it will affect the value of those plates.
Here's a photo from the 1979 Ivanko catalog. I vaguely recall Vinko saying that another company also used 3 spokes.

Thanks for sharing the information--repped! I'll be interested to know what the verdict is, and what brand they actually are if not Ivanko!
-
I'm interested to know as well. I'm looking at picking these up tonight, curious if these are old Ivanko's or another brand.

Will do, thanks. I've been seriously thinking about building a landmine/row attachment for my rack, too. I just need to extract my thumb from my rectum and hit the scrapyard for some materials.
-
that would be nice if they were ivankos, but those are the ones I'm planning to keep (if you are talking about the deep dish "standard olympic barbell" plates).
I'll still probably try and find out tho, thanks for that heads up.

If you do find out who actually made them, be sure to share the information--I'd still be curious to know!

Very cool, I have a similar jack, just a bit longer. Its from West Cary Barbell in red. People say you can just roll your dead on a 2.5lb plate to add more 45s, but that only works until the bar rolls away and you have to try to balance the bar on the plate etc, very annoying. I like my dl jack a lot.
Ive had it for about 2-3 years now. (So not a new purchase, just commenting.)

Yep I bought mine from West Cary, 65$ + ship. It has a BEAUTFUL deep read powder-coat finish with the name West Cary decaled over - very nicely finished.
For the mini jacks you just need one, and you load one side at a time. Otherwise you can get a full jack and it lifts the entire bar but those are larger and more expensive...

oh i see so just lift up the empty end of the bar to move the jack to the empty side.

Right. Plus it's handy for adding more plates - again one side at a time - as you work through the warm up sets into the work sets.

Brown truck delivered my TPB yesterday. I was surprised that plates went on the sleeves loosely. TPB sleeves measured 1.956". I don't know what or if there is a standard but my old Cap bar is twenty thousandths wider at 1.976".
Looked on the Ivanko site where it says the best bars measure 49.5mm (1.949") and 50mm (1.969"). I guess that old Cap bar is just a little fat.

Thats nice mate. I like the look of that classic design, in the end I went for one very similar to BWTG; http://www.blackwidowtg.com/product_p/access-dljb.htm I'm surprised at just how much leverage you get from these things. I've been doing the plate trick for years and just decided enough was enough. I only paid £30 for mine so its pennies considering how much use it'll get and my back will thank me.

Nope, just use one at a time. Its great for taking the 45s off the bar that you left on from the previous session, stripping it down to warm up, and then oading it back up to working weight again.
oh i see so just lift up the empty end of the bar to move the jack to the empty side.
This is pretty much how it works mate.

I got it off an ebay seller out of Dunkirk, NY. $279 w/free delivery but I had to pay another $20 NYS tax. There's another TPB thread in this forum not too far back that mentions another seller, I think it was Legend something, selling the bar for $270. I missed that.

Not a bad idea, really.
I had a part-time job delivering and setting up inflatable bounce houses. Setting them up is pretty easy, but rolling them up and putting them back on the trailer is a lot like flipping a large tire. The lightest one we had was ~300lbs, with the majority of them weighing quite a bit more.
