Sorry guys, was in Panama City Beach for a week. Back now and will be answering questions when I get some free time.
Looking fawkin joocey brah. I accused you of not being natty on another thread, for this I apologize and take back my accusations.
I've tried running leangains in the past...the fasting period wasn't a problem but I had difficulty trying to consume 200g of protein over 8 hours...so now Im having 6 eggs in the period before I break my "fast", helps me to alleviate that problem somewhat.

200g in 8 hours is doable but one of your meals has to be pretty much all meat. I generally have an lb of lean ground beef w/taco seasoning and a little cheese, or a lb of boneless chicken thighs along w/a 75g PWO shake, then I figure whatever trace **** I get from the other calories I have makes the 200

do you ever decide to hit up a bunch of chicken at a buffet while cutting after your workout?

Ive recently started this and was wondering if taking a large casein protein shake at the very end of the window would affect the fast at all? they say that ****s supposed to take up to 7 hours to digest and i was wondering if your stomach was supposed to be mainly empty for the majority of the fast.
thanks

Nah, Martin recommends having a large casein meal as the last meal before your fast to ensure steady AA release throughout the fasting period IIRC.

I've seen him mention it a few times...maybe he explictilty stated it in his IF threads over on Lyle's forum.
But a quick search of his site and found:
"I wonder if IF can lead to less resources being available when the body is trying to build muscle?
Well, it's a question of properly matching intake to expenditure. A large protein intake in your last meal will result in the body having amino acids available during the sleep and the fasted phase. For reference sake, 30-40 g casein or animal protein takes 7-8 hrs to fully digest, during which time amino acids are trickled into the blood stream for growth and muscle cell repair. For my last meal, I eat much more than that. I probably still have amino acids from the foods I ate in my last meal the night before, floating around in my blood when I break the fast 16 hours later".

You have to lower your Cortisol levels and increase your HGH levels.

this thread inspired me to try IF

not sure if you answered this yet, but do you know how much weight you were losing a month on your cut, and how much you gained a month on the bulk?

Weight is sitting around 191-193lbs, but bodyfat is slowly dropping and strength is continuing to rise.
I don't really go by the scale that much, more just the mirror and strength. The scale is such a general measurement.

dude just wow.
that is kinda my goal.
low fat and lean gains.
wow really inspired me.

I was so sceptical about this diet but I have heard so many things that I decided to give it a go. I was expecting to struggle for a week or so to get use to it, however, this morning went to the gym fasted and I had an amazing workout.
Going to stick to this I think.
Question on bcaa's
I use Reflex bcaa's, how many caps make 10 grams please? sorry if it sound stupid
cheers and in particular the OP, you have inspired me thanks again

Hell yea. It's the way to live. Worked out fasted yesterday and killed it. Love fasted workouts.
No idea about the BCAA..it should tell you how many grams per serving on the container.

Keep doing the fasted training protocol since that helps the most with stubborn fat, but you might wanna try 20-30 minutes of low intensity cardio (like walking) after your lifting sessions. At that point the BCAAs from preworkout will have cleared from your blood, along with the insulin response generated from them, meaning there will be no block on fatty acid mobilization. Add in the fact the weight lifting increases the catecholamines big time and the fact that fasted training enhances this, you should have lots of fatty acids from the stubborn fat in your blood after the lifting session. Doing something light like walking will burn those off so they aren't re-esterified in the fat tissue again.
If that doesn't work, try combining that protocol with an A2 receptor inhibitor supplement, like yohimbine. Hope that helps dude.

I really like working out fasted, too. I don't at all see how it would negatively influence your performance. If anything, I just feel more energized doing it! Working out before my first meal of the day has become a great habbit :)

Damn...I'm wondering if I should give IF a try. I've got a lot of fat to lose, 40+ lbs (btw my avy is old lol) and I've always just gone low carb to lose fat. Usually, it was >100gms of carbs on a sedentary day, and >125 on a workout day and kept my macro's 50/20/30 (p/c/f). Total cals around 2000. Do you guys think IF would allow me to lose fat just as fast and potentially gain/maintain my lean mass?

IF has so many benefits, bro. One being able to lose fat while gaining/maintaining strength, which is exactly what is needed for a body recomp.
I would never go back to "normal" feeding..IF has proven itself over and over, so why not incorporate it into your diet regimen?
-
hey
first of all, amazing progress. And sorry for the bump :)
I just have one question. On the LeanGains website, Berkhan says that on non-training days, fat should be higher and carbs should be lower. Did you do that? If so, can you recommend some high fat/low carb food ideas?
Details: I've pretty much arranged my cutting diet at a 40/40/20 macro split, about 2300 calories for the first week, and then I will drop it gradually. One meal before workout at 640 calories, big post-workout meal at 1160 calories and one final meal of about 560 calories. I'm still not sure what to do on non-training days though.
