The last 4 mainline entries have ranged from high 70’s to high 80’s, so I’m a little (happily) surprised

People are enjoying and excited for a new Mario title, of course that would make this idiot reeeing in rage trying to insult everyone who is interested in it.
What a time to be a fawking gamer, I'll never get close to playing every good game out there that interests me. What a time to be alive.

Just like you have done in all the Spiderman threads?
Idiot reeing in rage, you said it.

Lol, no.
Score isn't the end all for a GOTY pick. A 2D scroller is gonna be reviewed in the metrics of other 2D scrollers. Doesn't give you modern graphics, crazy setpieces, strong narrative, taking risks etc. It's just gonna be an exceptional game for people who love those kind of games. Something like TOTK imo will have much more broader appeal to be a real GOTY contender.

It’s such a good year dude. Sooo much good stuff, from AAA to indie, to in between
Lol, no.

yeah I know was just having a giggle
would be disappointed if it went to TotK though, can't believe I bought and tried that chit
should've known better
curious to see if RE4 remake makes the cut, that was straight 11/10
I own a Switch... but i have like zero interest in this. Especially for $84 (canadian)
Love me a 2d Mario, I 100% NSMBU and the Luigi dlc on switch, took around 50 hours.
Sadly I'm reading online to 100% wonder it only takes 15 hours?! 6 hours to beat the story and another 9 to 100%
Mario games shouldn't take forever to beat.
I know but it still seems on the short side, especially for a game that is priced at the same as 4 months of GamePass
Well it's Nintendo. They charge $60 for Gamecube remasters.
True, I'll probably buy it. Haven't booted up my switch since tears of the kingdom, and couldn't even finish that garbage open world game
Has there been any other first party releases on switch this year worth buying ?
I don't know I'd have to look it over lol, but this is pretty much the last first party release I have been looking forward to. Nintendo desperately needs a new console.

Metroid Prime was € 40 here

Pikmin 4
Zelda
Xenoblade 3 dlc
Metroid prime remaster
Fire emblem engage
Nintendo never misses
Probably the goat company
They know what the consumer wants and delivers everytime
its over for sonyCels
cleared the first world
hasn't convinced me YET, curious to see what is still to come but so far it's been pretty standard except for the elephant power-up which isn't really all that great tbh lol
it's no DKC though, really hoping for a 6th entry for the series 30th birthday next year
It's pretty fun. Cool to see them expand the lore to a new place with the Flower Kingdom. Opened up the door to new enemy types, new "Toads" in the flower people, new power ups, the Wonder Seed bit which is reminiscent of Mario World's secret keys.
They're also reprising a lot of solid music from SM64 and other previous games. Game kind of has a Yoshi's Island feel to it, too. Can't explain why, though.
Seems like they also took a few notes from Kirby and the Forgotten Kingdom, which ain't getting complaints from me, since that game rocked.
So far another solid Mario side-scroller. Blasting through but I've been playing Mario games for 30+ years at this point, so if I can't blast through them would say more about me than Nintendo. Franchise lovers will find a lot to enjoy. People burnt out on the Mario formula could probably pass.
One thing I do miss from the SNES era is the grungy aesthetic. The bitcrushed music, the pixelated graphics...gave games like SMW, All-Stars, and Donkey Kong Country such unique visual and audio palettes. But the smooth cartoon CGI look kinda makes Mario and Donkey Kong (Returns, Tropical Freeze) look like any generic cartoon.

My little bro got it for me for a late bday present
Much improved over the last 4 2d Mario entries, the “new” super Mario bros games

Between your little bro being so sweet to you, and your older bro banging models and making 27 mil a year, sounds like you are in the perfect spot. Can I join the family?
Almost finished and I started Saturday. Not as challenging but I am having a blast.
