if your gym allows it and youre comfortable going barefoot, why change up? i use old school, canvas PF Flyers and have for many years. if its not broken, dont fix it.
for me squat shoes are not worth it,any normal flat shoe will do,i always lol at those matt ogus wannabe in their adidas adi power squatting 275lbs.
but i usually squat barefoot.just my 0.2 cents
Barefoot as in skin to floor, or are you wearing socks? Socks are too slippery against the flooring of the gym I go to for something like squats.
Barefoot FTW!
Depends on mobility. If you reach depth without an elevated heel then you have no problem. People that cannot reach depth often times have ankle mobility issues, and this mobility issue is fixed by raising the heel i.e. squat shoes.

What's funny about that? If it's more comfortable for people and helps them squat better all the power to them. Don't be a cock.
I squat barefoot often, or with a flat soled shoe (been using the Reebok Lite Tr's for a few months now). Olympic weight lifting shoes can cause patella pain to some people (like myself). My ankle mobility is currently top notch, after losing it from injury, so it doesn't hold me back from reaching appropriate depth (no need to live dangerously with an elevated heel).
If you squat comfortably and correctly barefoot, waste your money on something else. Like hookers.
I squatted barefoot for quite a while, but converted back to shoeism and wear converse.
whatever you personally are most comfortable with is the way to go. nothing is set in stone as the absolute, correct way

Hardcore brahs gonna hardcore, brah.
OP, squat shoes could be quite beneficial for say high bar and front squats. But you'd probably do better with flat soles for low bar.
