Why have a cheat day ? Just eat at maintenance or few days before your planned overload of calories cut down then add them to your maintenance? Ideally it's up to you and will have no real negative effect.
-
Not going to eat crap like pizza or greasy burgers just wondering if drinking a couple of strong vodka drinks a night i already know im having a 16oz dry aged ribeye in which by no means do i feel guilty eating
-
And i forgot to add in that before i found this website and info about macros which was a couple of days ago i was maybe getting in 1100 cals after maybe less after 3 miles a day and working out 6 days a week which i know now was bat **** crazy
-
-
depends how much you can actually eat and how many calories you actually consume.
For most it won't be a big deal but at 1100 cals w/ 3 miles a day you have most likely done some serious damage to your metabolism.
-
my metabolism is fine im always hungry i always have a big steak at least once a week the 1100 cals has been going on for about a week and a half
-
IMO if you're not training for a competition or certain date, dont worry about it.
you decided to go on a short 2 day vacation, enjoy yourself OP. just get right back to your cutting diet when you get back
but if youre really worried about it, just track everything and eat at maintenance like mentioned above, then continue cutting when you get back.
-
had a turkey breast panini with just cheddar turkey and bread and 3 vodka water and a splash of cranberry juice nothing to bad IMO
-
Everyone needs a cheat once in a while, think of it as a reward for your discipline.

That 16oz rib eye would prob have more calories than a burger
-
You can have a cheat day and eat a little above your daily calories. It won't do that much hard. If you are worried then even though you eat some bad food, just keep your calories at same.
-
It is a two day vacation; so long as you aren't going completely over the top and absolutely gorging yourself there is only limited damage you can do, if any. Just go and enjoy your food.
-
it depends
are you the type that can eat 10-15k cals on a cheat day? if so yeah it will effect you....if you're the type that feels going 1-2k cals above maintenance is a cheat then nah ull be fine
-
no way i would eat 10-15k cals i was just concerned i guess bc i have been eating such a low amount of cals the last past week and a half.. My metabolism luckily is still good after surviving on such low cals and high exercise. Glad I found out about macros im ready to hit the ground running tomorrow. Im going to test it out today my maintenance is 2400 155pro 75fat and on carbs im going to test out today im shooting for 150g so if i hit that I have about 500cals to play with most likely somemore carbs maybe protein just going to see how my body reacts.
This morning egg white spinach omelette with mixed berries and thats it until tonight when I tackle the texas best 16 oz dry aged ribeye at bohanans here in san antonio

One of your biggest problems is classifying food as good and bad. You need to drop that mentality.... If you feel guilty for eating a burger and not a steak, that just makes zero sense to me. Foods contain macros, some contain micros, etc.. It's not like drinking a vodka, and eating a burger and fries is going to destroy anything you have done... nor is your body going to know the name of the food you put into it.

I get what your saying thats just my old mentality talking to me i know there is no difference now which is why im excited about starting tomorrow
-
how about you just enjoy your vacation and drink and eat what you want without thinking twice about it.

I'd either eat at maintenance calories, or say F IT for those two days. You won't hinder progress a lot from only two days.

So, I have a general question that is related to this in a way. Say I am on a diet, well call it diet X. My diet X's calories are at an appropriate level ( I am trying to gain weight, so roughly 15-20% above maintenance), I am meeting my macro requirements, and I am keeping an eye on sugar/cholesterol/saturated fats. Would I be accurate in saying that it doesn't matter what diet X contains, so long as the above conditions hold true?
EDIT: The thread shifted to what constitutes cheating, which is bordering on diet content. So I don't feel I am hijacking the thread.

why are you worried about dietary cholesterol, sugar and saturated fats? dietary cholesterol has no effect on serum cholesterol. Saturated fats are not "bad" for you. other carb sources like pasta and brown rice end up as glucose (sugar) in the long run. the only thing to limit is fructose, and that's just based off a study done on SEDENTARY people consuming more than 50g of fructose alone every day for an extended amount of time.
Stick to mostly whole foods (foods w/ high micronutrient content) but allow yourself some calories per day for thinks you will start to crave if you completely removed them from your diet.
hit your macros. eat a few vegetables and fruits per day. drink enough water. eat around 35g fiber a day.

It's vacation man live a little. Why let your life revolve around food .. I'm all for proper nutrition and know your feel right now but a body isn't built nor destroyed in 2 days ..
Cliffs
- in the grand scheme of life those 2 days won't mean chit

You mostly repeated what I said, besides the cholesterol, sugar, and sat fat bit. So I'm going to assume the answer to my question is yes, lol.

Not really.. I'm not going to get deep into discussion on this, but lets say diet X contained 3 cans of tuna everyday... you'd be hitting your macros/micros but giving yourself mercury poisoning over time.
-
A couple of days won't hurt at all. I took a week off m diet over Christmas and ate like a slob but didn't notice a real difference. You will find that after a couple of bad meals you kind of wont want to eat any more **** anyway
