Possible causes of passing out?

Hi, my name is Katy and I could use some input on a problem I've been experiencing during my workouts. My workout of choice is lifting Kettlebells, KB swings, squats, deads, lunges, etc. I work out alone, and no one can push me harder than I push myself, (a possible clue to the problem?). Depending on the day, I use either a 20KG or 25KG Kettlebell for the big lifts like Swings and Squats. Recently, at the end of 15 or so reps of these bigger lifts, I get so dizzy I feel like I'm going to pass out, and sometimes have to grab onto the rack or something to steady myself while my heart rate and breathing get under control. Could this be a contributed to just simply pushing myself hard, or could it be a lack of proper nutrients before lifting, or????

this definitely sounds like something you should discuss with a doctor.

Could be high blood pressure... Have u checked that lately. Make sure ur eatting right n plenty of water.

If you aren't breathing correctly while lifting it can cause this.

Breathing incorrectly/dehydration could do this..but I would get it checked by a doctor as there may be an underlying problem

Agreed with the other posts.
Watch your breathing while you are working out.
Make sure you are following a proper diet. Check your macros and make sure you are getting enough.
But I would do a follow up with a doctor.

Thanks for all your input. I know it's not my breathing. I'm careful to inhale, and exhale with every lift. After consulting a trainer at the gym today, he believes that as hard as I work out, I am not getting enough fuel before my workouts. I have a hard time eating in the morning. It just is not appealing. Before my workout, I have a protein shake, and add a cup of oats to it for carbs. He thinks maybe adding some amino acids to my drink during my work out would help. What do you guys do to fuel up before lifting?

My blood pressure is always perfect. 110/60. I do NOT drink enough water during the day though. My bad

Protein shakes should be easier to get down if you don't have much appetite in the morning. You could try adding stuff to your protein shake. You could use milk, if you aren't already, plus the oatmeal, plus the protein powder. I also add peanut butter and a bit of juice to mine.

This, and it could also be influenced by conditioning level. Either way, you may want to go and get your cardiac rhythms checked.

hey op,i also dont like eating in the morning,but i find if i try eating somethin small before the gym like you stated i do get the weak dizzy thing you talk about,but when i dont eat anything before it it doesnt happen.i dont know the explanation for this though.

not eating , low blood pressure, exercising without eating , low blood sugar

That used to happen to me for years. I found if I worked abs first it didn't happen. Not sure why, maybe getting the blood flowing helped.

I use whole milk. This morning. I added a tablespoon of peanut butter to my shake, it seemed to help a little. :)

How's your eating in general? Looks like your placing a large emphasis on that bit of food you have before training.

Count your calories and make sure your body gets enough

I think you are exactly right, and I'm working on that. :)

It could just be blood rushing to your legs. I used to get light headed on heavy deads. I don't know why the lightheadedness went away. Maybe because I lost weight/am in better shape now.

i get it on heavy deads and squats, like said above, it's blood rushing to the muscles being used, butt and leg muscles are bigger, more blood needed. Go to the doctor just to be sure, but i've had this for as long as i've lifted with no ill effects

It has to do with any nutrition or water intake. How long did you rest from previous workout? What was the volume and intensity of the exercises in this and previous workouts?

Same thing is happening to me after I take a whole week off and then try to do a full volume workout. The symptoms remind hypoglycemia to extent.
It also can happen if you suddenly increase your workout intensity manyfold, it can happen if you train hard in hot weather without aircon.

The reason - your cardiovascular system got some disadaptation after your last workout. Absolutely NOTHING to worry about, but if you feel dizzy and feel like you're about to pass out, stop the training right away, take some post-workout energy drink and have a rest for 15-20 minute until your condition is gone. After that you must go home - you're done for today even if you planned to do more. Next time when you're in the gym you'll be able to handle much higher volume (assuming you didn't rest too long since your previous workout and your cardiovascular system is ready).

First of all you need to drink water that's just silly that's an issue for you. Then, you don't like eating, skip meals and seem to not be on top of nutrition at all. "I have a hard time eating in the morning. It just is not appealing." Post your Macros you have 263 posts and don't have a solid diet plan because you don't like eating? What routine are you doing? Is it just swing the Kbs around for hours everyday until you pass out since you don't drink water or eat properly? Come on, OP, get with the program.

my diet is complete garbage, and i don't pass out after deadlifting 400 pounds and squatting mid 300's . you're swinging a kettlebell around and you're about to pass out? go to the doctor, don't listen to some personal trainer.

Do you drink milk like 30 mins prior to working out? I worked out a couple days ago and I drank milk and then I did leg workout and that got me out of breathe and feeling queasy. I recommend not drinking milk an hour or 2 before a workout and see if its any better.

Also is it during all your workouts or just particular ones, I would think the squats and the deadlifts would get you out of breath because they sure get me out of breath. I'd recommend taking a longer break in between sets if that's the case with you as well.

This is EXACTLY when it happens. After these particular exercises in which I always push myself with the heaviest weight I can handle and finish the required reps in. Then, I get very dizzy, and my legs feel heavy. It goes away with a couple minutes rest.

Could you please point out where I said drinking water is an issue for me? I could drink water during the day more, but am always well hydrated during a workout.

My diet ISN'T garbage though. I see a doctor on a pretty regular basis.
