A little girl with her hands arranged in a comical fashion, with an ebonic phrase often used with the ebonic version of the N word.

What documentary?
It's legit, alright. I saw it before on a documentary that came with the Enter the Dragon DVD. I was a little surprised, tbh.

This
I have the same DVD
Maybe he was just f'ing around?
As an amateur, I don't understand what made him look amateurish there. He was destroying that bag. Is it not supposed to be moved around like that?
In before people with 6 months of mma experience try to critique a martial arts legend like bruce... Too late.

As an amateur, you are still smarter than 99 percent of the people who post in this section.
lol this thread proves it
no matter who you are, if you post a vid of yourself working the bag, people on this forum will tell you that your form is bad
i would imagine to someone who would criticize that short clip (and keyboard warriors), the seemingly amateurish stuff is:
1) he's not using wraps or gloves
2) doesn't seem like he was planting his feet and throwing his body weight into the punches
3) hands were low and kind of just wailing (does kind of look like he is just messing around) <-- also need to keep in mind that bruce lee wasn't a western style boxer and tended to keep his hands a little lower
now, the bag is swinging around like crazy, and he is keeping it up in mid-air, but there's no way of telling how heavy or light that bag actually is.
either way, i'd be hard pressed to willingly take all those punches to my face. and i'm always amazed at any clip or picture that shows the lat flex. it's like he's going to effing fly away lol
LOL he was working his punching power on the bag. It was an exercise... he wasn't actually working on technique. YES read plenty about how he worked out. Solid beast punches...serious power in those hands.
One of those punches would remove your head.

I thought hitting a tire with a sledge works punching power. Or throwing a medicine ball straight up helps too. Hitting a bag multiple times doesn't really help as much as the listed methods. Jus sayin

power punching drills are commonly mixed in with other drills/excercises to increase punching power. mixing in a minute of power punching (pretty much hitting the bag like it stole something from you) following technique-focused rounds are common.
Keep in mind that most of his recordings were to see how it looked on camera for use in his movies.
he hit that bag hard for a 135lber.. whats to hate ehh.. lames
well, he was never paid to fight
so no matter how 'professional' he could look it would still look like an amatuer on the bag

straight up when you are laying down or straight up when yo uare standing up?

you must be a pure beginner.
As an amateur, I don't understand what made him look amateurish there. He was destroying that bag. Is it not supposed to be moved around like that?
the quick version, and I'm not judging him or anything
no headmovement
hands too low
no real footwork either, when they bag moves he didnt move to keep the distance he wanted he struck the bag at a different angle to make it swing a different direction
that works on a lite soft bag that dosn't hit back but isn't so good against an opponent
but you can look at what he's wearing and the no gloves etc and be fairly sure he's not 'training' right there
so any critiquting is really pointless
but I put in what I did so when YOU work the bag you can benefit from this thread a bit
(Lord knows no one else will lol)

Punching things hard = increase in punching power AS in running drills = running faster/longer.
