I torn my right bicep September 2005. I was helping to move a pool table at the Down Town Lounge Diablo's, 3 guys on one side and just me on the other side where the balls come out. I lifted just fine and we were on the move, I was walking backwards in flip flops, I stopped as one slipped off my foot, hold my end stationary for a moment, I heard and felt a loud pop in my right arm and it stung like hell, so we sat it down and iced it immediately. It bruised up nicely pretty quickly. The kicker was I in the middle of my own moving from one house to a new apartment. I had to learn how to lift and carry with my left for the next few days. I went to the doctor at the end of week and he concurred that I had torn the belly out of my bicep. He told me that they can reattach it with a micro surgery but it would take a long time to heal. Otherwise I could let it go naturally and just keep heating and icing it down. He gave me a sling to stabilize it. It took a while to heal and even longer to get my strength back. There is a visible difference. Needless to say I was pretty pissed at myself and at the guys for not helping me move my own crap when I needed their help the most. That was pretty much the end of my relationship with the club. I learned a valuable lesson about myself and respecting physical limitations.

The average commercial pool table can weigh between 600 to 1000 pounds, depending on height, width, and slate thickness. I suspect that bad boy was around 700.

But it ain't about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much can you take and keep moving forward. Brutal!

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. -- Colossians 3:1 For every day I'm lifting light, someone else is lifting heavy. That motivates me to lift harder. You might be a powerlifter if people at gym tell you someone is looking very 'cut' and you think they had a terrible accident in the kitchen.
