Unhappy Upper back problems ?

I'm 22 and never really worked out in my life. I'm very unfit but want to make a change but whenever I do lifts or anything my upper back aches for hours sometimes up to a day. I have never injured my back before and I stretch and warm up before I do anything, I also don't do any heavy lifting...

Box Squats (18 inch box) good as normal below parallel barbell back squats

So recently I hit a 225 box squat @ 124 lbs bodyweight but I only deep squat 185. Is the box squat as good of a mass builder as deep squats ?

Improving squat form

I've been trying to get stronger on my deep squats (hamstrings touch calves) and have been doing them for months now. I can't seem to add any more weight because my torso keeps falling forward during the later sets / reps. The bar is lower than my neck / behind my delts. My heels don't come up...

When do you consider yourself intermediate what lifts numbers?

Hello, I am current doing 5x5 and I am deloading on most of my lifts (dropping by 10% and going back up). This has happened a few times in the past and I have broken the plateau but I was wondering eventually when do I consider my lifts intermediate and use a different program? Bench 5 rep...

DB Flies vs Resistance band flies

I currently do band flies at home but my bands are not the stackable kind, so hard to increment. I'm thinking of going back to DBs. Is the weaker range of motion a potential issue (not much weight on the top half of the movement)?

Running muscles

The sports section hardly gets a look so I'm posting this here. I've searched elsewhere and can't find an answer. Does anyone know the percentage of muscle worked between the main leg groups while running at a solid pace (8mph+)?

Squat form questions

Disclaimer: UNITS IN METRIC (sorry) I have started lifting for about 6 months now, started off with DL & bench. In the first 2 weeks I tried to figure out my 1RM and proceed from there. I got 60kg for bench, 100kg for DL and 60kg for squats. Fast forward now, I am benching 100 and DL 180. BW is 80...

Shoulder hurts when doing decline shrugs

Is this common a occurrence with decline shrugs? A few people have told me to stay away from them along side dumbbell pull overs and upright rows as they are hell on the rotater cuffs. Thoughts?

Advice on low-bar squat form

youtube dot com/watch?v=Y1irHqkuK4g&feature=youtu.be Beginner lifter, weigh 175 pounds, squatting 175 pounds in this vid. My initial impressions are that I'm leaning forward a bit, and am not sitting the hips back far enough leading to too much knee bend. I'm also trying to solve a problem with...

Can I Deadlift twice a week?

I do a 6 day PPL workout and really love Deadlifts. Would it be acceptable to do heavy (My 5 RM) Deadlifts on the first Pull day and lighter weight Deadlifts with higher reps (6-8) on the second Pull day?

Another Squat Form Check Request

Afternoon. So after going to the gym and training normal splits for a couple of years and still being weak as **** (though looking a little less skinny), I decided to give the Stronglifts 5x5 a go. First time I've squatted in my 26 years of living. I've been doing it for about 2 months-ish...

Cardio and weights split

Hi I've been told by my trainer to split my cardio/weights sessions, so do weights in the morning & back to gym for cardio after work. Is this worth doing? Or does it make no difference if they're done in one session? Becky

When you push up from a squat, do you push from quads or glutes?

I have seen multiple ways people do it. Some when they push up, they scoop their butt up from the floor. Or is the push mainly in the quads?

is this Doug brignole guy right about his "biomechanics"

He says a lot of crazy stuff but he actually explains it well and a lot makes sense. The one thing I'm really not sure I buy though is he says you can't really hit one particular head of a muscle and it's all the same lever He also says decline hits the whole chest more and even upper...

Post Squat Width

So I squat pretty narrow on my heavy days 3 to 5 reps, I use a belt and everything feels good no pain in my lower back, but if I remove my belt I get the "buttwink" and I can feel it in my back. If I stand wider my back looks good, I wanna learn how to squat narrow for the quads without getting...
