Hey all. I'm curious to get some expert thoughts on whats going on with my body. Currently I've been working out for about a month and a half. My weight just hops around from 178-180. I'm 5'7, around 19% body fat, started at 21%. Currently taking creatine after each workout, and whey 2-3 times a...

Will deadlifts really snap your back?

I've been seeing stuff about guys messing up their vertebrae while lifting, sometimes seriously enough to warrant surgery, and it's almost always from deadlifts. Are deadlifts a bad idea to include in a routine, or are they only dangerous at higher weights? I've seen really mixed answers so I am a...

Back Day feels Like Rear Delt Day

Ever since I even started working out, my back has never been sore. Even to this day, my "back" day seems like a rear delt day. When doing exercises, my rear delts tire out. The only contractions I feel are in my rear delt. Even If i hold no weight, and imitate the exercise, i can only feel it in...

Question Lying Leg Curl vs Seated Leg Curl

I always "feel" the lying leg curl more in my glutes and hams vs in the seated position. Are they supposed to be functional equivalents?

Bored of the Dumbbell Row? Check out this row for a change....

Check out this row, which is an excellent rowing movement for multiple reasons. Here are two of those reasons: 1. By standing in front of the plates, the plates on the barbell do not run into your torso as with some other row variations, allowing for a fuller ROM. 2. The only path the bar can...

DB bench press: What's the difference between lifting straight and merging weights?

Sorry for the poor wording, title length restrictions :D Basically wondering, what's the difference when DB bench pressing between lifting both weights upwards with the arms more or less remaining in the same position from beginning to end, and lifting them while pushing the pecs together (so...

risk in pointing feet too much?

I have duck feet so for me to open my hips properly i have to point my feet out even more than they already are. I maintain good form and get good depth this way but is there any risk to this or is it a case of "if it works for you then keep doing it". If i dont point them out the way i do i dont...

Please critique my workout plan

Hey guys, What do you think of my workout plan? I'm not too sure if I'm doing too much. I just want to make sure that I cover everything. I wouldn't say, I am a beginner. Maybe, closer to intermediate, maybe Chest - guillotine/ incline bench press/ dumbbell press/dips/ tricep dips/ cable...

Traps

Hi all, I was doing incline bench when I felt a pull in my upper traps, right around the lower neck. It's definitely not DOMS or typical muscle soreness, but very clearly felt (and still feels) like a pull which has lasted a good two weeks (it still hurts if I look straight down or straight...

One move to increase your bench

I know we have all heard this statement before. But I assure you that I am not here to blow smoke up your ass or promise you "50 pounds in 6 weeks" in exchange for my personal profit. This is something I legitimately think will help you bust through your current plateau on your bench press. For...

Chest dips or flat bench for shoulder health.

I've noticed that it gets difficult to unrack the barbell unassisted in the bench press one the weight gets heavy and I've read that once it gets really heavy you risk injuring the shoulder. Since I always work out alone, would it be a good idea to replace the bench press with chest dips? Is...

Cast Iron weights vs Vinyl weights

Bent over dumbbell row

When I do this, I don't feel exhausted or even feel much burn the way other compound exercises like dips, bench etc. make me feel. Is this normal? Is this exercise really good for back, or do I just stick to inverted rows?
