Using DOMS as a marker for progress?

Does anyone else get really peeved when they're not sore after a workout?? Do you use it as a guide to go heavier or more reps?? I feel quite disappointed in myself if I'm not sore after a workout, and want to know if others feel the same, or if its normal. Or is it my bodys way of telling me...

Which routine would you suggest and why?

Day 1- Legs, abs, Day 2- Chest, triceps, Day 3- Back, Deltoids, biceps, Day 4- Legs, abs or the Upper body/Lower body by switching some exercises... ? My goal is to be in shape, maintaine muscles and lose some 3 - 4kg.
