Sticky Thread Sticky: Daily Workout - Challenges and Victories

In light of the extreme focus this board has in regards to the 'body beautiful' (and the frustration that results in people not 'getting results fast enough'), I thought I would create a sticky that changed the focus a little.... This is a thread for posters to use to recognise 'every day'...

Barbell Vs Dumbbells

Hi all, I am just starting a new routine and the exercises are all done with barbells. At my gym I don't have huge access to barbells at different weights - they are Olympic starting at 20k, too heavy for me on the shoulder press at the moment. What is the difference to using dumbbells? Is...

split workout.

I am having a hard time fitting in 30 min of cardio and 45 min of weight training. Can I split the two up with out it affecting my goal? Do 30 min of cardio in the morning, than finish off in the evening with 45 min of weight training. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cool Injured elbow preventing me from my goal. I'm SUPER depressed.

I had every intention to bulk up over the winter and gain as much muscle as I could so that at some point I'd be content to start cutting. I'm not inactive but I have not gone to a gym in years and years. I started weight lifting only 2 months ago and I have this amazing momentum. Probably because...

I'm curious to what methods everyone uses to motivate themselves day after day??? For me it's something as simple as a poster of a male and female bodybuilder...but I also love the "rush" I get from weight training. Does something strange or off-the-wall motivate it something simple...

Arrow Weak wrists when squatting "heavy", deload?

Hi everyone! I've been following stronglifts 5x5 and I'm on week 5. I've worked my way up to 125/130 for squats but I'm finding my wrists are not able to keep up. Does this mean I should deload a couple pounds (10-15 pounds) and work my way back up? I don't want to get wrist straps as I'm not...

Starting from literally zero

Apologies if this is the wrong place, I'm posting here because I don't know where else to turn for advice, I'm pretty much at the end of my tether. I'm 27 and have had a weak body all my life, even though I was active when I was young, for some reason I never built muscle through puberty like...

how about Nike Airmax shoes? the best?

I bought them a few days ago and they feel amazing... they just have a large cushion and compared to my old shoe, my legs tire out much slower and my calves are less sore after runs.

NO GHR machine. Alternatives?

I would like to build up the strength to do a GHR. We don't have a GHR machine in our gym, so have been looking for alternatives. I tried them by sitting on the lat machine backwards and using the cable for assistance, but it felt awkward and I think people must have thought I was an ass hat. ...

Coming back after serious illness

Without getting into too much detail I've been out of the gym since the beginning of the year. Prior to that the gym was my life but then I got so sick that I couldn't go if I tried. Last month I got on a new medication and its controlling my symptoms. I'm pretty much back to life as normal....

I need a proper training program, I keep jumping from program to program.

So, I want to build muscle and get a more curvy and athletic figure. I am already pretty lean, with little visible body fat (5'9, about 130 lbs). The problem is, I can't decide/stick to a workout program. I want something that will challenge me. I ran track for a year in high school, and that's...

Cool My bf made me choose the gym or him.

So my bf decided to break up with me saying all i care about is going to the gym and he doesn't want to be with someone who puts that as her 1st priority. Has anyone else experienced this ? I've struggled most of my life with body issues, and earlier this year fainted due to being on Duromine....

Unhappy Morning headaches???

So I have started to really amp up my workouts and decrease calorie load for the past couple weeks now. I work out 6 days a week, and I am trying to have a 400-700 calorie deficiency each day. All that being said, this last week and a half, every morning, I wake up with a horrible headache. It...

Unhappy horrible pain...what did I do wrong?

So following yesterday's workout I woke up with a pain almost as bad as my labor. And my labor was really really bad... I did squats, deadlifts, bench press and my trainer had me do a set of jump squats (no weight) and stiff legged deadlifts. Must mention we worked on my 1rep max. I did 135 lb...
