Sticky Thread Sticky: Daily Workout - Challenges and Victories

In light of the extreme focus this board has in regards to the 'body beautiful' (and the frustration that results in people not 'getting results fast enough'), I thought I would create a sticky that changed the focus a little.... This is a thread for posters to use to recognise 'every day'...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Training Program Basics

It is said that "working out" is when one just goes to the gym and does exercises whereas "training" is what one does when they are on a program designed to specifically progress them. If you are reading this, you are interested in finding a program that will progress you. Is This Training...

Why should women train chest?

Ok, this may be totally obvious, but why should a woman train chest? We have boobs, not pecs. I do train chest (usually with Back), but I've been questioning lately if this is really necessary or not. I'd like to hear your opinions on how Chest exercises affect a woman's physique!

Is a personal trainer worth it?

First time posting on the forum - I am not sure if this question was asked before {I am sure it was} but would love some feedback to make a decision. Just some quick stats. I am currently 5'4" and 140lbs. I recently {past six months} lost 50lbs - I had gained this the last two years due to a very...

Please check my squat and deadlift form... I've only been squatting since February. I want to add more weight but unsure if my form is good enough for me to do so. I never deadlift but since I was videoing I figured I would add that in. the main reason I don't is because I'm not sure I can lift 135...

Only doing cardio at the gym

Hey guys/girls, I am a newbie on this site, so Hi! I just wanted some opinions on an issue I have about working out at the gym. I am a long distance runner and currently training for a half Marathon so I run pretty much 4-5 miles at least everyday. I've been going to the YMCA gym to run on...

Training with hoodie or not?

Hi, I'm doing the Ashley Conrad program right now, and she suggests to wear a hoodie to loose water weight and eliminate toxins. In that way, it's speeding up metabolism. Is it right or not? I'm arguing with friends who say that it's better to train with a minimum of clothes to fight cold. Who's...

Overhead squats. Do you do them? What is the primary benefit?

I tried these today for the first time. Man, they were surprisingly hard! I was able to use around 55 lbs for sets of 8. Although I can press a lot more than that, squatting with the bar overhead was a completely different animal. I like doing them just because it's something new and...

Online coaching?

Hi all, I had weight loss surgery almost a year ago and I've lost 155ish pounds since then by completely changing what I eat and training at the gym. I trained when I was heavy too and I feel like with the exception of squats (which I hired a trainer at the gym to help me with) I've got a good...

So, I joined a gym in January of this year but only started to use weights seriously a couple of months ago... To give you an idea of where I started, I could not do a push up on my toes when I started. If a 20kg plate was already loaded up on a machine I could not physically move it to unrack it....
