Sticky Thread Sticky: Daily Workout - Challenges and Victories

In light of the extreme focus this board has in regards to the 'body beautiful' (and the frustration that results in people not 'getting results fast enough'), I thought I would create a sticky that changed the focus a little.... This is a thread for posters to use to recognise 'every day'...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Training Program Basics

It is said that "working out" is when one just goes to the gym and does exercises whereas "training" is what one does when they are on a program designed to specifically progress them. If you are reading this, you are interested in finding a program that will progress you. Is This Training...

glute/quad/leg supersets plus others

Can anyone recommend some good lower-body supersets? I've seen that compound lifts followed by isolated (e.g. squat immediately followed by walking, weighted lunge) work well. But I'm up to hear your favorites! That being said, I'm finding that I really enjoy supersets, so if you have any...

What do I do if I'm sick?

I've been so good about not missing any days and I've caught some awful bug over my "rest days" that are now running over into my workout days. I've already lost 2 days this week - is there a way to "reset" my calendar or something to move the workouts around? I know I need to let my body...

too much omg it hurts

4 days ago I did bicep curls. I used a 10lb dumb bell bar, and worked both arms. Than my trainer had me do bicep curls with a 5 lb free weight on just my left arm. I still can not extend my arms fully. When I attempt it hurts too darn much. It feels like if I force it I'll tear or rip something....

stretch marks and competing

Hey ladies, I have some pretty bad stretch marks on the sides of my waist. I cant afford surgery and I never see figure girls with stretch marks like mine. I have a nice physique and want to do my first figure competition in November. Are there women who compete with stretch marks? Or is there some...

Stretching - do you do it?

Someone has raised the issue that my back rounding in deadlifts might not only be a strength issue - but mobility. I have been a bit neglectful of stretching/rolling my back so I guess I will start. It just surprises me because I am hypermobile. So I guess my question is do you stretch/foam roll...

Question DLB's Face Pulls

PLEASE critique my squat form!

I have had so many issues squatting and it feels so awkward to me. I can barely squat any weight without my knees caving inward and I'm not sure how to go about fixing this aside from taking weight off the bar until it doesn't happen. Should I just keep squatting, squat with bands around my legs...

Hamstrings - RDL and leg curl questions

First question. I am finding that, when I do RDLs, my grip seems to go bad after about 8-9 reps unless I keep the weight very very light. I'm doing 75 lbs. right now and can get to 12 reps but have to stop and reset my grip in order to finish the set. Last week at 90 lbs. I could get up to 7 or 8...

On the Hips/Shoulders issue

Hello everybody :D! So, I have wide hips. Very, very wide hips. I can almost hear you think "So what? You have wide hips, get used to it!". Yeah, I tried that (and most of the time I actually manage to get past the fact that, well, I have wide hips.). But today, I feel a little bit overwhelmed,...

Sets/Reps for Planks, and Glute Bridges.

At the risk of asking a stupid question, how many sets should one do for isometrics like planks, and glute/hip bridges? Is each set just holding one rep until muscle failure, or should it be held for a certain time for multiple reps until failure?

rest between sets?

How long do you rest between sets? Is there a benefit for longer or shorter rests? This week I needed to shorten my workouts due to time constraints. I rested only 30-45s between sets. I was definitely running out of steam at the end of each exercise. I wasn't sure if it was solely due to...

Tricep rant most recent of several)

So I hate my triceps. I recently bulked up over 8 months and am now on a mini-cut (just a couple pounds for bikini season). My arms have bulked up a little, and overall look better. But I have tricep jiggle (still) and now that I"ve gained some weight it seems worse. The question is, how...

Question Muscle fatigue but not sore?

So today I was supposed to train delts and back but I kept feeling the movements in my biceps and forearms... I have already trained delts earlier this week and did deadlifts two days ago (my split got messed up this week). I have no soreness (I know soreness isn't a great indication), but I...

Question Squat as heavy as you can ALL THE TIME...REALLY?

Hello everyone. Lately I've been debating this topic in my mind and I'd love to know what other's opinions are. I am a firm believer in lifting heavy to sculpt beautiful muscle. However, I am genetically more bottom heavy so, I've been going back and forth between heavy squats and plyo/circuit...
