Help me with my attempts?

Hey guys, got my first meet tomorrow and was just looking for some advice. Running Justin Lascek's TM and did his two week taper which involved heavy singles last friday which weren't max outs but more so of "leaving gas in the tank". Hit a 425x1 squat easily, what should I open with? Hit 435x1...

Help me understand if I can hold my own at a local meet?

I've been thinking about entering my first competition. I would compete in a raw natural competition, and i'd compete at 198. I haven't been training to compete, but I've always focused on strength, and i'm curious if I can hold my own in my weight class with some adjustments to training and...

New Barbells

Hello, I'm looking at getting a couple new barbells. I was looking at the Rogue Ohio Power Bar, and the Rogue Ohio Deadlift Bar. I was wondering if anyone has used them and what they think, and what other alternatives that are out there in the same price range.

Should main lifts be the same?

My lifts are nowhere close to each other. Deadlift I did 435 for 2 and 205 bench for 1 and 290 squat for 1. Should they be as close to the same weight as possible, or is it ok for them to be way off?

First time trying out Strongman Training

Was a beast time, planning to compete for the first time July in Strongman from powerlifting background. Today I did: Log Press: 50kg, 60kg, 70kg, 80kg. Couldn't get 85kg all the way up as plates fell off each side but eh soon. Axle Deadlift: 70kg x10, 110kg x0, 100kg x0. - My grip really...

Wrestling shoes for deadlifting? Brands?

My converse finally got laid to rest after about 2-3 years of usage and been noticing some people deadlift in wrestling shoes and considering ordering a pair instead of another pair of converse. Anyone else do this and could recommend some good pairs? (preferably under $150).

Deadlift was weaker this week for some reason

Hi there, last week I achieved a 5 plate deadlift then attempted 500 and got it roughly to knee level. So far this year since January my deadlift went from 425 to 495 for my 1rm. I tried out a new bar this week a bit thicker but still a standard 45 lb bar, but I couldn't even budge 5 plates and...

What is a good way to learn the clean and integrate it into the workout plan?

I do bodybuilding style upper/lower body split, but I want to learn the clean. The the clean from clean & jerk. The real clean, not the power clean. How should I start learning it and where would it fit best into the workout plan? How much volume should I be doing? And what %1REPMAX?

What do you consider a good deadlift?

I used to be in really good shape; I was 5'8" and over 180 lbs. Since I started University I have went down to 165 (poor eating, I know). Today I deadlifted 385 for 3 reps, and went for 405 for 1, but I couldn't lock it out (I was taxed from the couple sets before). So what would you guys consider...

Hi, So I'm a relatively inexperienced lifter and at the beginning of the year I started a cut to try and get below 200lbs. Since then have gone from 221lbs to 206 which is pretty good, but all of my lifts have pretty much plateaued since then which really shouldn't be happening considering I've...

Arrow Most strategic attempts to hit a 347-352lb bench in competition? (reps)

I have a meet in a few days, and my goal is to hit around 350 on bench. My opener will be 314, and I was thinking of going with 336 as a second, then based off the speed of that ill either go 347 or 352 for a third. Anyone have a decent chart or study they can link for a "optimal" weight class based on height. I know these would be on average, and not a case by case, but I'm curious what they say. Edit: Or just your thoughts.
