Sticky Thread Sticky: Official PR Thread

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Number one: YES YOUR LIFTS ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPETE. IF YOU CAN LIFT THE BAR AND COLLARS (25KG/55LBS), WRITE YOUR NAME ON AN ENTRY FORM, AND PAY THE ENTRY FEE YOU CAN COMPETE. NO ONE IS GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU, YOU WON'T BE EMBARASSED, YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE "COMPETITIVE" DEPENDING ON WHO SHOWS UP....

Critique my deadlift - 280kg / 616lbs (VID)

Hey guys, I've been running the Magnusson/Ortmayer deadlift program and pulled a new max of 280kg (616 lbs). I'd like some input on my technique as well as any flaws I need to address to keep improving my deadlift. Thanks! YPvkAw0m_go

I wouldn't normally make a thread in the general powerlifting section but this has been a lifetime goal of mine for awhile now, I'm proud of this and thought it might be worthy here. I'm competing at the XPC Finals at the Arnold in 2 weeks in Columbus, OH in the 242 class. Bodyweight is at 250...

Elbow/brachialis pain?

I'm sure in this section everybody has experienced this. I could use some advice on how to recover from this and avoid it in the future. I just finished my last workout for this week's deload and it's still pretty damn bad, especially at the bottom of a bench press. It's not bad while squatting...

Need advice for my situation

My gym doesn’t allow me to deadlift anymore because I make noises :( eventho I try to put matts or slow it down... They just don’t want to disturb the whole building and they decided to put a sign “no deadlift”. There's no other gym here that has access to olympic bar in my province. Crossfit...

Weight Class by Height

Anyone have a decent chart or study they can link for a "optimal" weight class based on height. I know these would be on average, and not a case by case, but I'm curious what they say. Edit: Or just your thoughts.

Poll Poll: Raw vs gear

Which do you prefer/compete in? Why? I was thinking about just competing in RAW. I feel like the records are more accurate because technology in gear improves year to year. Also it nice to know what I can lift without the assistance of a bench shirt. Thoughts?

A question regarding calculating one's 1RM...

Hey guys. So, I've been back to the gym for the first time in nearly a decade. Working to regain my power while also altering some of my objectives, which is really more diet based than anything. The question I have is, it there a general formula to determine one's 1RM based on a defined...

Sumo deadlift torso position

Hi lads, I switched to Sumo and prefer it due to the reduced stress on my back. I pull whitout a belt as I don't like it. My lumbar seems pretty fine, although I've been having a bit of trouble of keeping it extended, it goes back to neutral. One thing though is I'd like to widen my stance...

My current BW is around 169-172lbs and my best lifts (comp. form) are Squat 365, Bench 295, and Dead 495. I have noticed that I am much stronger in higher rep ranges (1-5) and, therefore, when I try any type of program - Texas Method, Juggernaut Method, Candito's 6 week program - I have to...
