Getting Dizzy.....What am I missing?

I have been dieting and running to loose the weight. Quite often lately I have been getting extremely light headed and dizzy when standing. I'm guessing I'm lacking something in my system? Any thoughts on what causes this? How do I go about finding out what is wrong?

Is light bread really light?

Hi there : ) I heard people say that light bread is light thanks to 2 ingredients: 1. Water 2. Yeast (or other leavening..) BUT..it is light right after baking, and when the time goes by, the water evaporates. They said that this evaporation causes the bread to be less light, because the...

Diabetes, Insulin and Nutrient Timing

I have found little resources (magazine articles, books, web pages, etc.) that address the dietary needs of individuals seeking to trim fat and build muscle. I have been an insulin-dependent Type II diabetic for just over a decade. Insulin has a tendency to make one gain/retain fat. I work-out...

Macronutrient Percentage Calculations

Ok, so my main issue here is trying to do the math. I'm not exactly gifted with numbers, so I figured someone here could help me out. Does someone know how I go about calculating macronutrient percentages from a calorie total? For example, a 3500 calorie diet consisting of 287 g of protein, so the...

Bulk/Cut Micro-cycling.

Hey guys! I'm going to explain the easy process first, then lay out the science behind it. 1. Find the BMR for your target weight. 2. Calculate your estimated calorie burn for your workout only; don't worry about the rest of your day unless you play sports or your work is highly physical, etc....

Build Muscle and Loose Bodyfat

Every other day I do strength training and the rest of the days are cardio days. I try to burn 4000-5000 calories a week on eliptical. My goal is to loose 5 lbs in 15-20 days while building muscle for strength. Is this realistic and can anyone recommend a good diet? I eat a lot of vegetables,...

Quick Cut Diet

Alright guys. Here's the deal, for the past 8 months I have bulked, a total gain of 19 lbs. and only 3% bf increase. I feel like I did well. I definitely have learned a lot! I gained quite a bit of size. I was honestly surprised at the increase of size in my chest and legs especially. So now...

Carb Backloading - Is this sustained ketosis?

I've started experimenting with backloading my carbs and am curious as to whether anyone is testing their urine for ketones at various points during the day. Does backloading carbohydrates keep you in deep ketosis (as in the state you're left in after the prep phase) or does it slowly bring you...

Glycogen depletion for better health

As there is often a debate about whether or not IF is merely a convenient method to eat larger meals, it does appear to really have health benefits as well. Here is a recent (March 2014) study that recommends depleting glycogen (once in a while) is an efficient method for 1) increasing glycogen...

Is fasting really good for you?

Okay so IF and the Warrior diet are pretty popular on this board so I thought that I would pose a question. Is fasting on a regular basis healthy? -For the longest time we have been told that 5-6 meals a day, keeping the body in a constant state of digestion is the best method for all around...

Sugar... could it possibly promote more fat gain? (NO broscience please)

So I've been wondering this question for a while. Obviously we have cals in vs cals out which dictates weight gain/loss. So now of course, assuming we're eating in a surplus we're gaining a certain amount of muscle/fat. Now the proportions of these obviously depends on a few factors, the main two,...

Feast fast method?

Thinking about doing one big cheat day a week followed by a full fast. So it would be probably 4-5000 calories. I'm already lean, have a good amount of muscle and I'm only trying to drop around 10 pounds. I would do this on my heaviest training day, and then rest on my fast day. I've plateaued and...

Over the past 2 years I have conducted over 10 months of diet experiments using some extreme diets. I used extreme diets because it's way to isolate variables and amplify effects. I started with single food source diets for 4 week intervals to include: 6.75 lbs of potatoes / day, 36 eggs / day...

Stevia during fasting

I've been searching through PubMed for a while, looking for some studies regarding Stevia's impact during fasting. Yet, I only seem to be finding irrelevant pathways and pharmacological studies. On the internet, some say it's okay, others say stevia causes an insulin spike, making it bad during a...
