The Truth about IF - HGH NOT Anabolic WTF?

Hey guys, I've just checked out a new video by IFBB Pro Ben Pakulski on IF and Growth Hormone.. He says, 'Growth Hormone is NOT anabolic on physiological levels, you're not going to get bigger with Intermittent Fasting.' I was like WTF? What's your opinion about this claim? If that's true,...

Why doesn't skipping BrkFast on IF result in lower energy/focus? Explain with science

I suffer from poor energy levels throughout the day, but after a Blood Test that showed nothing I've realized I just need more sleep than most (7.5 or 8 solid hours isn't enough for me, I need 9). I used to IF, for about a year, I didn't look at the science, it just felt natural for me. I...

Minimum amounts of saturated fat

I've been thinking about saturated fat as I eat very clean. Currently on mini cut at 2400cals 140p, 120f and the balance in carbs. Of my 120g fat about 20g comes from saturated fat (bread, butter, milk, an egg a day etc). Is that enough? Is there a minimum suggested amount of saturated fat? We...

Filling remaining calories on a bulk.

What difference would the type of calorie make? If I meet my 0.8-1g/lb for protein and 0.4-0.45g/lb for fat, and fill the 60% of the remaining calories with some complex carbs ( veggies/fruits ) Best advice on filling the remaining 40%? ICE CREAM? Those remaining calories are often about...

Complete proteins

Would nuts like cashews, pistachios or walnuts combined with legumes like peanuts be a complete protein. Also would you have to eat with almonds (which I've been recently told are not in fact nuts) to get a complete protein. I'm just curious... I usually meet my protein intake through other sources...

Dietary Fat Intake Recommendation Source

Basically the title. I never got to see the clinical study that resulted in the recommended dietary fat intake and I can't work PubMed to save my life. I was also reading this thread and this thread that kind of go against the whole ".45-.5g/lb optimal range". So uhhh yeah.

Question Macronutrients management regarding carbohydrates

If I set my protein intake to ~0.8 g/lb and fat intake to ~0.45 g/lb, and fill all the rest of the calories with carbohydrates ( it was mentioned in the stickies to fill the rest of calories with whatever you like ) , wouldn't that result in any unwanted fat gains? especially on rest days? or...

Am I losing too much weight too quickly?

Ok, so I was pushing 180 on October 1st, and now I'm coming in at 163-164. That's with me weighing at the very end of the day, after having consumed food and water. I have been eating super clean with only 2 carb binges, but I am afraid I am losing too quickly. I work out 5-6 days a week, and the...

I use a Sorbitol based artificial sweetener. approx 2 grams of Sorbitol per tsp. Can consuming too much of it lead to side effects? If so, how much is too much? ( I consume about 16 grams daily )

Question Why should you keep fat lower than carbs?

I know that keeping fat relatively low helps keep you lean and has been advocated by bodybuilders for decades. But why? What makes fat so apt to making your "gains" mostly fat? Is it because your body doesn't use it as a primary source of energy or what? Just curious.

Refined Sugars - The New KILLER

Refined sugars cause obesity and serious diseases like cancer and heart disease. We average 130 pounds of sugar per person in the U.S. The question is, why do we eat sugary foods and drinks, when we know it's bad for us? One researcher said the desire for fructose is wired into us because in...
