Figuring TDEE (lifting cals/BMR variances due to bodyfat)

Two questions: How would you figure/estimate calories burned while lifting? -How would bodyfat% affect someone's calculated bmr? i.e. when you put in your info into a bmr calculator, bodfat% isn't accounted for. I would assume that someone 200lbs at 5% bodyfat would burn more calories/day...

Battling Leptin or Not?

I have a question for those who are well versed in Leptin. I've been eating hard for the past few months, and my body always fights me when I get into the 210lb range. I recently hit 212lbs, followed by a drop down to 205lbs, and am now experiencing an absolute loss of appetite. The meals I...

Waiting 30 mins to drink post WO shake / eat meal

Is there any validity to waiting 30 mins after your workout to consume your post wo nutrition? I heard that since the body is still releasing large amounts of anabolic hormones, its best to "ride the anabolic wave" and wait 30 mins instead of drinking it immediately after. Thoughts?

Overeating and NEAT

I was wondering how NEAT is affected by overeating. I know I can start sweating if I consume a ton of food (Man v. Food guy calls them the meat sweats). Was wondering how much NEAT is increased during really huge overeating events. For example I went to the Bellagio buffet over spring break and...

Will eating carbs before running hurt fat loss?

If I do a target keto diet, will eating carbs before running stop my fat loss? I know the point of ketosis is to use fat for fuel and not carbs, but I need carbs for my lifts. So will eating before my workouts/runs stall my fat loss?

Do BCAAs elicit an insulin response?

Wondering for the sake of IF. I know that there's about 4 actual calories per gram, so following Martin's guidelines that would be 120 calories before breaking the fast. Would the BCAAs provoke an insulin response that would nullify the fast? Or is the fast maintained despite taking BCAAs? ...

Metabolism slow down with age

I was wondering whether there have been any studies done on how fast the metabolism slows down in age, or whether there have at least been speculations from credible sources. I'm most interested what the difference between a teenager's metabolism (say, at age 18 - 19) and a young adult (say, 24 -...

Is there any reason to cycle carbohydrate intake, or is this just broscience?

the only sensible reason I can think of to cycle carbohydrates is if you wanted to cut calories really low, say, 1500, and still eat plenty of fat and protein while trying to avoid ketosis for some reason. Is there any other reason to cycle carbohydrate intake?
