USDA's MyPlate suggests cups of red and orange veggies, weekly

error in thread title: SIX cups weekly http://www.choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/vegetables_amount_table.html I'm aware that the USDA is sellout scum with an agenda but I don't see how they'd benefit from promoting almost a full cup of carrots/tomatoes/squash daily, aside from the other...

bodyfat set point

I have always wondered can one actually shift their set point to lower bodyfat levels? Let's say if one were to diet down to reasonably lean condition, let's say @8% bodyfat, then, from that point can one really increase their caloric intake slowly and deliberately over time without adding too much...

Do You Need a Caloric Surplus for Muscle Gains?

Hi, sorry if this is a cringe worthy noob question, but do you need a caloric surplus for muscle gains? If you are working out with intensity, pushing yourself to your limits and consuming high quantities of quality protein such as 1g per pound of body weight, can you make muscle gains without a...

No carbs post workout

So I was on simplyshredded.com under the Interviews section because I was curious to see some diets. I noticed a lot of individuals followed a similar protocol: in their meals leading up to their workouts, they consumed a great deal of carbs, but all the meals post-workout contained no or low...

Fiber

Just curious, is there any downside of having a high fiber diet? I have read a nominal range is about 40-50 grams per day, but is there any negative effects of going over this as long as bowel movements are consistent and of a good consistency (ie no diarrhea)? Thanks for any feedback.

Post Meal Frequency

I am aware the stickys here by Ms. Emma, in read the frequency one. I didn't really see what I was after though. My question involves getting the last 4% +-1 of body fat gone. I'm at 9% right now and I feel I'm getting into a bit closer to the elite league. Not there yet obviously. My question...

MCT's in Coconut oil.

So if medium chain triglycerides (MCT's) are fats that go directly to the liver and burned for fuel, they are literally the only calorie that cannot be stored as fat. Don't have a source but I've heard it and understand it to be true. Coconut oil is about 2/3 MCT so does that mean only 1/3 of...

This question is for the educated guys who know a tonne more than the rest of us. I want to ask about MPS and want to know exactly why meal timing for the most part doesn't matter. Using an example lets say a person did a hypertrophy training session which hypothetically induced a 24-48 hour...
