Post Personal trainers...lifestyle...practice what you preach?

As a trainer, what do you do in order to make your lifestyle easier day to day? Do you practice what you preach? For example, I preach to clients to be prepared with meals to help them stay on track. I show them by packing my meals for the day and bringing it to work with me, knowing I won't...

Career/education in fitness

I have just finished my GCSE's and am now on a level 3 sports science course in college, as well as doing a level 2 fitness instructor course at the same time. I'm planning on going to university but am not sure what degree to expect to do. The only fitness degree I know of is sports science,...

Giving Nutritional Advice??

Hi there, So I'm currently taking a personal fitness training course and I'm a bit confused on something. I know that as a personal fitness trainer it's not in our field to give nutritional advice, and if we did there could be legal complications. But I feel it's going to be hard training a...

How do you keep your integrity as a trainer?

90% of PTs I see get clients to do half squats, not touch their chest when they bench and do endless fluff exercises. Is it that they just don't know what they're doing or is their some sort of monetary pressure causing them to do this? If so how do you keep your integrity?

Certifications

So, I am looking at the possibility of getting in to personal training. When I was younger, I had thought very seriously about taking Kinesiology in school. I never did. Incetives for members to change gyms/trainers

Not that I want to create animosity between trainers and/or gyms but what are some great incentive ideas to entice people to change to your service. I'm not talking about activley going and poaching clients. I mean marketing such as "Not happy with your gym/trainer? Join with us and we...

I've seen a few posts on here, just trying to get an as up to date answer as possible. I'm taking the NESTA Cert Exam a week from Friday. Studied the manual, watched all of the videos, completed all of the quizzes at the end of each chapter. Basically I made a study guide out of the quizzes at the...

Set up

I posted a few months ago about setting up shop in my garage. There wasn't a whole lot of interest in terms of actual paying customers. I feel some of this was due to a lack of equipment. We moved out of that house a month ago. I'm hoping to move into a new house during the week but it has no...
