Stuffed up 250 cals left

I once read that putting on muscle doesnt increase fat loss that much, is that true?

Apparently it doesn't increase the resting metabolism that much or contribute to fat loss that much but rather the calories burned from weight lifting etc are more significant for fat loss. Is it true is the whole increasing your metabolic rate to loose fat over hyped?
