Plz help. Only 5 lb increments

I go to the gym at my college so the equipment is fairly limited. The Dumbbells only go up in 5 lb increments so for example 15 lbs will be too light and I want to go up but 20 lb is too much. I need something in between like 2.5 lb increments. I know a lot of gyms have that but not my college one....

When is the best time to take L-Carnitine?

I'm currently researching fat burners and I would rather stay away from the stimulant based ones due to the scary things that I am hearing about them. L-Carnitine seems like my best bet right now. However there is so much conflicting info as to when the best time is to take it. So I guess my...

Piriformis Syndrome

I'm pretty sure I have piriformis syndrome. I'm super tight in that area of the glute, and it feels like the sciatic nerve is pinched as I've been complaining of tail bone pain for awhile. I assume that's related to the muscle spasms I've been getting near my groin. Hips are really tense too. ...

Why do people say women perform better in higher rep ranges?

I've seen this said by some reputable fitness writers. I don't understand. Is there validity to this? Or is it just those old myths that are always perpetuated.

Unhappy I need pants or capris for deadlifting!

Anyone have any suggestions on the best brand pants or capris for deadlifting? I have some I think are ok but from dragging the bar up my legs on heavier lifts the material rips. I'd also like to find some that aren't see thru! Know of anything with reinforced shins thru lower thigh?

Managing work with training and diet

I'd like some advice on how to best tailor my diet to my training and work schedules. I'm trying to build muscle and at the same time I am increasing my caloric intake. My training schedule is irregular and not ideal. I work 12 hour night shifts, generally 3 on, 4 off. Or, 3 on, 2 off, 3 on, 7 off....

Fat loss

Is fat loss really as simple as calories in vs calories out? Is there more I could be doing? I eat at least 100grams of protein daily I weight train 4 times a week, with a 20 minute cardio session afterwards. I also have one session a week that is solely cardio - for one hour.

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm not new to fitness, but I haven't "worked out" (I did pilates...) in almost a year. I'm 16, slim/thin build with all of my weight in my butt and thighs. I have almost no upper body strength. My fitness goals are to tone my arms, upper back, the sides of my...

New to bulking: how much time should I dedicate?

At the beginning of this Summer I decided to take charge once and for all and begin a clean bulk in order to gain muscle. For reference, I am 18 years old, and at the start of the Summer I was probably 5'5" and 112lbs. For all intents and purposes, I was "skinny fat." I did light cardio training...

Unhappy Do you feel weaker during your period?

I just had a god-awful workout. Second day of my period. Most of my lifts went down 10-20%. Came home and all of a sudden I'm super achy and I can tell I'm going to be sore, even though I've been lifting regularly. Is this normal? I feel super ****tty that I was so weak today :(

Is there any hope for my body?

I've been following a lot of fitness models lately on Instagram. Most of them used to be overweight, so that's even more inspiring and tells me I can do it too. I am female, late 30's, only 4'10" and currently 120 lbs. I was my heaviest in January 2015 at around 145. My goal is to be down to...
