Behind The Neck Jerk?

I'm wondering if there's really any merit to them, or if anyone on here does it? Convinced by a Jamie Lewis article I tried it today, and while I had no shoulder pain lifting, I had trouble getting the bar down from the lockout. I also read a post by Christian Thibadeau that said that even pro...

Power Snatch Versus Power Clean & Push Press

Hi everyone, I'm changing up my routine from a Bill Starr type of setup (which I've followed for years with good results) to a one lift a day type setup where I just hammer the crap out of a key lift each workout. One day is for each power lift, one day for overhead pressing, and I wanted to...

Critique my clients

Hey guys, I've dabbled on and off in "the lifts" for a few years now, and just recently got serious about coaching others (been a general strength and fitness coach since 2005). Figured it's always good to have extra sets of eyes and varying input, so I thought I'd post vidz of the people I train. ...

Problem

Whenever I snatch or clean, they come out as power snatches and cleans, never do I go lower. If I attempt a 60kg snatch, I fail because I try to power snatch it, something is stopping me from going lower so I can catch the bar. It's not an issue of flexibility. Are there any specific exercises...

Starting oly at the beginning of March

I've got a powerlifting comp on Feb 26th, and then I make the switch over to weightlifting. I have a few problems - I'm horribly immobile and can't even begin to do an overhead squat or full snatch. I do mobility work daily to address this. I'm also not feasibly able to get coaching, as the nearest...

first 100 kg snatch

Beat my previous snatch record by 10 kg today lol. It's all behind the technique. bLrvlqfisFU This is a 4 month progress from empty bar to this. What do you think? IMO I should be covering the bar more and pull the bar upwards not back. I tend to do that with cleans too. A really bad habit.

Assistance Exercise Programming

After my next competition I am completely "renovating" how I am training. Too much maximal weights in the squat and dead lift (I wanted to get to 500lbs in this lift, but now I don't care) have rendered me slow and my second pull acceleration is beginning to deteriorate. I am planning on basing all...

hip injury from jerk (possibly). any idea what this is?

I think I've tore a small stabilization muscle in my left hip with the jerk. It the inner hip/groin area if squeeze my legs together and I'm also unable to jerk. Jerking or doing lunges causes similar pain. Oh yeah, doing leg raises and crunches also causes pain in the same area. I can squat...

Lifts critique

Hello, I've been doing Olympic lifts for 7 months now. I have a coach, generally things are going well, except for some flaws. Snatch- my hips are late, if I use them when the barbell is at knee level lift looks, feels and is very very good. Unfortunately, for some reason this happens pretty...

Recovery to Jerk Transition

I feel like I'm doing something incorrect whenever I transition from a clean recovery to a jerk. I manage to get a solid clean, weight is stabilized with 4 fingers under. But whenever I go for a jerk from this position, I feel a surge of pain in my wrists. Anyone got any tips how I should...

Question Weight lifting shoes specifications?

Hi, in my country (Chile) it's so difficult to find weight lifting shoes for sale, so I decided to try with a shoemaker, I'm asking now to you guys about the shoe specification (I'm not sure, but I think there is a minimum or maximum of the heel, for example), where I can find some complete...

Random Question...

Does anyone else feel like they've been hit by a truck after every competition? I find it strange considering one performs almost 3x more lifts during training than competition.

Oh, Olympic Weightlifting, How Beautiful Thou Art.

Do you really want to know how beautiful and poetic Olympic weightlifting is? Pause Pavarotti at 2:02 RdTBml4oOZ8 Then pause Kendrick at 10 seconds in, WXEq3OeD68o&list=FLLZ1V2gM7LtKAsKJqy2wrtQ&index=9&feature=plpp_video Then play Pavarotti while watching Kendrick.

Power Clean/Hang Clean Form Check

I know I'm terrible at these. Sometimes my elbows don't get up fast enough and whatnot. But I just started doing these and really would like some help. I know that running shoes are horrible for this too... I'm just waiting for my lifting shoes to get shipped to me.

A few questions

I started training WL a while ago, but think I jumped into it too quickly (5/6 days a week, heavy sessions, lots of BS/FS and olympic lifts/accessory work). Its a shame as I had a great gym with lifting platform and good lifters to train with. Anyway, life has changed and I've ended up in London....

Clean grip question, shoes question, and routine request

Hey guys, I'm looking to do some Olympic lifting and was wondering how wide a normal clean grip is if I don't want to regrip for my jerk. Also, should I be using a hook grip for clean, snatch, and jerk, or what? Also, what are some of the typical routines for Oly lifting? Right now I'm just...

Newb Question: Are power snatches & power clean & jerks allowed in competition?

Hi, I'm a home gym guy who's been looking to add some excitement to my routine. I've always meant to do these lifts consistently but haven't gotten to it till now. I'm hardly "Competitor Material" but was wondering if the power versions of snatches and clean & jerks are allowed in competition? I...

Your lifts after 2-3 months?

Been about 2-3 months since I began oly lifting. Was just curious and wanted to compare what kind of numbers others were at after about 2-3 months. Current C&J: 95kg (just made 5kg PR today) Current Snatch: 75kg Bodyweight: 92kg (started at 97kg)
