Olympic lifting a good place to start?

I have never lifted weights before and wanted to know if olympic lifting would be the place to start. I do MMA so I am pretty good shape I have just never lifted weights before and want to get into it.

olympic weightlifting 5-7 times a week?

hi guys im new to OL, up to now ive just been doing SS and soaking information of that sorts I was wondering how come olympic weightlifters train 5-7 times a week? wouldn't they overtrain eventually? Any information on the subject would be much appreciated, don't mind a big read

a dumb bumper plate question...but I cant resist

can u mix bumper plates with regular plates? lets say I had an oly bar and the large bumper plate on each side. Could I then just use smaller regular plates to up the weight? for instance 35's or 25's etc

question about high pulls

At the top of the pull, is the motion purely vertical like an upright row or up and backwards kinda like a horizontal row? I see both kinds but cant find a consensus on whats considered the correct style.
