What is the best thing to eat after a fasted morning workout?

I only have time to workout from 5am to 6 am, so I wake up and go straight to the gym to workout without eating. What is the best thing to consume after my workout? Is it carbs (oatmeal) or protein? Thanks for any help.

Exclamation HELP! How do I know when I have reached my genetic potential?

Hello there, I am a bit confused when people say that when you first start training in the first year you can put on around 20 to 30 lbs of muscle in a year and about 10 lbs in the second year and the 5 in the third and about 2 lbs a year after that if you "TRAIN PROPERLY". I've been training...

The Food Porn Thread!

Okay so we've got Meals Eating Now to post the stuff we're eating. But like many other inhabitants of this board, I'm currently knee-deep in contest prep and can't necessarily eat whatever I want. I feel there should be a place where we can post and share pictures of fantasy cheat meals,...

Working out without eating enough

I have heard that eating after a workout is essential for gaining muscle. I am just curious whether working out and not eating is equivalent to not working out at all. For example, I sometimes lift immediately before going to sleep. Would that be the same as not working out at all? Also, does not...

Is cutting really that easy?

I've never cut before, but I'd like to very soon. I have been taking adderall and being a bit lazy lately, and I noticed a difference in my body fat. Not too extreme, but definitely noticeable (I check myself out a lot so I'd know lol). Adderall completely kills your appetite so I haven't been...

Basic Nutrition

Hi, I'm new, trying to get back into it... The nutrition page is a mess. Is there an article that deals with the basics of what I should buy and eat, i.e. the first page of a book. I know I should be eating proteins, good carbs and natural fats, but sometimes I like to start from the...

Protein Cheesecake: 2:1 Ratio P/C

I like things that taste good. I analyzed cheesecake recipes from America's Test Kitchen, Chantal, Joe Pastry and even Paula Deen to come up with this, and I've eaten one every night for the past 7 nights. My criteria for this recipe was that it must look good, taste good (even to my wife),...

Your cut / bulk cycle?

So I'm planning on bulking for 2 months (+300 kcal daily average), then do a 2 month cut (-500 kcal) and see where it takes me. How does your cycle look like? Any suggestions?

Need some advice?

So for a bit of background, I'm 17, weighing about 150 lbs, have lost about 50 lbs since January as I was pretty fat, and now I'm in what I suppose is the 'skinny fat' stage. I have some muscle, but I have a fairly thin layer of fat covering my chest and abs, so I look pretty bad to be honest. Now...

Help to start getting my father active, need to set up nutrition.

Hello everyone just a quick question. My father is in his mid 50's, he is 5'8 and 229 lbs.. sadly hes pretty overweight. I promised him I would help him start to cut down the weight. Question Eat less calories the next day to compensate?

If I typically have a "bad eating day" and feel I ate a lot over my calories for the day, my usual approach is to eat 1200 calories the next day to kind of "erase" my overage I did the day before. Now, in my mind this would put me back on track to go about my normal eating routine. Is there...

Half rotisserie chicken

I often buy a half rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods. They're pretty cheap and make a great way to get in some good protein when crunched for time. I remove ALL the skin before I eat it. Why BMI is misleading

Had a doctors visit today. My stats are 5'9 and 171 pounds and about 15% BF. My pic here is pretty current of what I look like now. The docs office had calculated my BMI at 26 which puts my in the obese category. My ideal BMI weight is 154 pounds, lol. To get there I'd need to loose 17...
