On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Finally stepped on the platform

A little background. I got back in the gym 11/11/2011 (easy to remember) started lifting, nothing serious and then started getting a little interested in PL'ing about 2 years ago. I decided this year I'm competing. Been busting ass and did fairly decent on the platform. Good enough to take 1st...

How to wash lifting gloves?

Because mine reek! In the past I've soaked them in laundry detergent overnight, but the stink seems to come back. The washing machine destroys them. Any old school tricks?

Need advice for a Lat strain.

I think I have a minor lat strain, it's right under my right shoulder blade. The funny thing is I don't know which exercise caused the strain. I was doing lower body work that day, BB squats, BB walking lunges and hamstring curls. it's not super painful, maybe a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. ...

DL PR at age 47

I've been training for right at 7 years. I've used mostly full body programs utilizing DL, squat, presses, rows and bodyweight exercises. I tweaked my back a couple of years ago and quit deadlifting for a while then when I got back into it was going mostly light. My best at that time was 385...

O35 Summer 2016 Diet / Body Composition Thread

I'm sure many remember the thread last year in the Misc that scooter or whatever started. Anyway I think we should do another one for anyone wanting to participate. If there are enough people wanting to make and document some noteworthy progress until June 1, 2016 maybe we can get the thread saved...

Experienced lifters, how often do you take extra rest days off?

I have been training for two years. Sometimes I feel burnout when I don't get enough sleep in a night or when I have been training hard for weeks. Some advocate taking a week off after every couple of months but that would be too much for me. What about an extra few days off every once in a...

Looking for a few thoughts

Hey everyone - I'm an overweight guy over the age of 35. Last year I took a look at a picture of my wife and I from a recent wedding and I hated what was staring back at me. Tipping the scale at about 315 I decided time for major change and set out to get a trainer. I've now managed to get...

40yr old male, athletic but have never lifted weights until the last couple of months. I have looked up and down the beginner weight lifting posts, plans, etc.. but quite honestly it is information overload and thought if I just go and work hard for 45min-hour things will work out. My problem...

Hi all! I'm an avid bodybuilder/weight lifter who also happens to have a huge hiatus hernia, rumination syndrome and subsequent ulcers. PPI's have proved of little benefit. I have arrhythmias and terrible breathlessness at times. So, i guess i'm going for a Nissen fundoplication. The surgery...
