Sticky Thread Sticky: O35 Official Deadlift Competition Thread

Since we lost the last deadlift competition thread, it's time for a new one. Ideally we can get this stickied, and get some mod reps for the weight class winners. I'll be checking the contest regularly to update standings. Since the thread may last longer than a year, we can declare winners at...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

What would you have done?

I've been on StrongLifts for a number of months now, and I "stalled" on bench press very recently (180lbs). But I'm not sure whether I was overly cautious. On the fourth set of a recent workout, I only managed to do 4 reps on the 4th set, but did 5 reps on the fifth set. On the following...

Arnold Classic ov 35 ed.

So the big show is this weekend, who do you have winning and why. Yeah, yeah, i know it depends who hits their peak... bla, bla, bla. I have Dexter J. for the win; he got up to 270 and at 40 something he seems to always be shredded. What say you?

Things are different when you're fit.

I ripped my pants today and it was just one funny gym joke after another around the office regarding my ripped pants. Yet I have a feeling that if I was overweight, it would make people awkward or the jokes would be a little more mean spirited. Am I right?

12 Week Transformation, Want to Share!

I think this is my first thread in O35, as I can now officially post here, lol! And thanks to DD for mentioning that it won't be quite too narcissistic to splatter my story all over BB.com, but hopefully to lead inspiration instead. ;) But some proof that us oldies but goodies can still fight...

Dealing with Pain

Guys About a month ago, I was doing dumbbell bench press. My left elbow had been creaking/cracking for the previous couple of weeks. Anyway, on the upward push, it cracked pretty loud. It hurt, but not extremely bad. Kinda like cracking your knuckles, but on a larger scale. So, I went for...

38 years old struggling in bench?

Trying to get some logical, bro science, and sensible answer to my dilemma in compound movements (ratio). my OHP is currently at 205 / 1 RM while bench is 255 / 1 RM? I had a mild to somewhat severe AC joint injury ( not seperation) and it does bother me especially during flat bench. ...

Am I wasting my time for my goals?

I lift about 5x a week, I eat 1g/lb of body weight practically daily, yet I don't think I'm eating above calorie surplus. My goal is to grow muscle. I have gained about 25lb in weight in the past 6 months.

When can expect results?

I just started week 7 of Jim Stoppani's Shortcut to Size program and I'm trying to get a sense of what kind of results I should reasonably expect to be seeing. My lifts have gone up some in terms of poundage since I started, but I'm not seeing much in the way of changes in my physical appearance....

Trouble Cutting Body Fat

Hi guys, I need a bit of help because I'm a bit stuck. I'm 42, 178cm tall, 82kg and in the process of cutting. My calorie intake is about 1800-1900 every day. At least 200g protein - carbs under 50g and fat about 60-70g. According to my Beurer scales I started at 19.9% body fat - that was the...

Trainers

So I was given a birthday gift of some free sessions at my local gym. I had my first session with him last week. I was given a booklet (workout journal) prior the the training and and filled in the front part and even wrote down my goals on a sticky note for the trainer to see. My goals were as...

My dad wants to get in shape at 47

Ok guys, here it goes. My dad is a 47 year old man in decent health, but he is a little overweight. He is about 6 feet tall and probably 210-215 pounds, carries most of it around his stomach/hips area along with some in his love handles. He wants to get in shape, but works a very busy schedule and...

Speaking of Cardio on a Cut and Muscle Loss...

I understand and appreciate this theory (that cardio threatens muscle loss) as it applies to "some" people - maybe like serious body-builders, but I often see regular Joe's worried about this. I have a different idea on how it works. To me, it seems that a regular Joe, who is not at 6 - 10% bf,...

It shouldn't be any different

Weightlifting and working out shouldn't be any different when you're over 35 than when you're under 35, or when you're under 25 for that matter. Exercise is a fountain of youth. At 35 and older you should still be at your prime and you should stay in your prime and take it to the grave, whenever...

Cardio on a cut. Any real life experiences?

I am doing 3 cardio sessions a week on my rest days from the gym. I need to either drop more calories from food or burn more as my body is just not shedding fat like it did when I was younger. I only do a 30 minute hill climb on my bike. By "only" I mean it's all I do, not that's it's easy. My...
