Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

OK, some discussions in the open forums and in PMs have resulted in this thread. The Deadlift thread has been a lot of fun and inspired some great lifting and improvement, so we're going to do the same with squats. Post your intention to join the comp, and post your entries with a clear video...

Ab Roll outs...struggling

I posted a question about this several weeks ago, I use a barbell because it is handy. gave it an honest go on say 3 dead-lift days sessions as an accessory, but I am struggling with it. I can stack my wrists/arms under my shoulders and begin the exercise but I can only get the bar to move forward...

Set some PR's today, hyped!

This week is test week in my program, and first day went awesome. Set a new PR for Deadlift at 425lbs x3 reps, and a new PR for Strict OHP at 200lbs x3 reps. Left a little in the tank on DL, probably could've gotten 1-2 more reps, but the OHP PR was a legit 3rm , that 3rd rep took some work...

What should I know? Returning after decades.

Ok, I lifted as a student, and then I graduated, and life happened. Moved around for jobs, well out of it by the time I settled down. Always something sucking up time end energy, never enough to spare to get back into shape. And then I looked up and saw a stranger in the bathroom mirror and...

winning the fat loss battle

Just sharing my thoughts here. I lost from 30 40 % BF (I dont even wanna count - look at my profile pics to see) to currently 13.5%. I noted that the most important thing to do, is to relook at your life. It was my life that made me fat, and made me unable to lose fat. The science is straight...

Lower back tightness

I have this when I sit or stand for long periods. I have tried a lot of different ways to loosen this up. I have noticed when I warm up on the elipticalit tends to go away could this be hamstring or hip flexor related. not painful just annoying.

Wife has expressed an interest in starting weight training, advice?

It has taken almost three years for my wife to partake in what I do, but I am still surprised she has expressed an interest. She joined a gym a month ago, and has been going to a few classes (Legs. Bums and Tums type of thing). She (and her friend who she goes with) have asked me to show...

Problem lifting with wedding ring

Does anyone else's wedding ring (if you even wear one) sometimes bother you when lifting? I've got a huge callous underneath my left ring finger, it's the only one. I'm not really fussed about the callous so much though, but worry I might either bend the crap out of my ring or pinch my finger...

Do you ever do barbell pullovers?

I never much cared for them, but did a lot of straight arm pulldowns. Really like pullover machines though. But tried pullovers with a barbell again this year and they seem to be working well. Guess I found the right ROM. I think in the past I was trying too hard on them.

Opinions on rehabbing a herniated disc

I have a bulged disc at L-4 and L-5, S-1 along with degenerative disc disease and some mild stenosis. All confirmed with a MRI and CT scan. I'm not really a fan of physical therapy BUT I believe in getting the body and the part in question back to work ASAP when the pain is manageable. For...

I'm 34. I have been bodybuilding on and off in the gym since I was around 15 but never really took it seriously until recently (I am about a stone overweight, your typical middle aged flab). Real Life Lesson in Setting HIGH Goals

“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” -Michelangelo. One of my lifters, Buddy (17-years-old), entered his 3rd Weightlifting (WL) meet yesterday in Bethlehem, PA. A few months...
