Thumbs up Sticky Thread Sticky: This week in the O35 II

On this day BLK00TJ is competing at the 2015 Mid-Atlantic State Championships and Military Nationals. I've competed alongside this lifter and his squat is nothing short of elite. Yesterday I had a few surprise PR's in the gym (sorry no pics or vids) Barbell Bench 265 x 6, Dumbells 110's x 9,...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Feedback on my diet

Hello. I was wondering if you guys could take a quick look at my diet and share your thoughts. Last time I had a question on how to implement the flexible dieting, but now it's more about the numbers I used to begin with. In the last year I've lost around 32 lbs and lower my body fat, but I'd...

Reality check

I have two questions that were on my mind for quite some time. For a natty, (jokes aside, no TRT AAS PED etc) is it possible to BP three plates? I was close once, one crooked rep all I could do. To think of it, I have never seen a natty doing it, in real life I mean. Question two, any of you fine...

Seemingly inconsequential yet important squat tips

Even after 7 years of lifting, still learning new stuff. Doing smolov, and the frequency / volume is enough to start tinkering with things just to make it easier. A few dozen youtube videos and who knows how many websites a tip of many that I played with actually had astounding results. ...

Talking When to start first bulk - Over35 Skinny Fat

Hi all, I have spent a lot of time since my previous post just spinning my wheels, not getting very far, so I wanted to ask a few questions. Basically, I'm almost 38y/o, lifting on and off for the past 18 months. 1,65m 'tall' and 60kg at the moment, around 16%BF. Truth is, I've been...

Dumbbell Side Bends

I'm wondering what has been the experience of others with this exercise? Did it make any difference if you did them? I've read that some bodybuilders believe they just add to your waist and work against the tapered look that bodybuilders strive for. Others disagree. What's your take on this?

85-90% of genetic potential in first 3 years of proper training / diet? You agree?

Hey guys - do you agree with the premise that you hit 85-90% of your genetic potential in the firs three years of weight training? I've always viewed Sean Nalewanyj as a no nonsense, well informed resource, but not sure if I buy this. I know there are many lifelong lifters in this forum, so who...

Coach's muscle is a good sign of a good coach

Hi, My first gym visit was 10+ years ago, at the age of ~23. I might have gained ~10lbs over that 10 years (from 175lbs to 185lbs, height 6'1'' btw). I was with a coach last year for 3 months but then he quit :-( for job change. I'm seriously considering a coach after 10 year's effort but very...

I absolutely love the flexibility of going to a 24 hour gym and I would never go back to a gym with regular business hours. There is one thing I really miss about my old gym though, which is getting to it! I used to be able to walk out the door and be there in five minutes. After a commute...
