Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Ov35 Bench Press Thread!

May as well throw this one out there so we have all 3 major lifts represented. :) Open to ideas as to how things should run but here's how I see it..... - must be Flat BB Bench only (using an OLY bar). No Incline Bench, Decline Bench or DBs. - Raw lifts only. No shirted benching. (wrist...

Sticky Thread Sticky: O35 Official Deadlift Competition Thread

Since we lost the last deadlift competition thread, it's time for a new one. Ideally we can get this stickied, and get some mod reps for the weight class winners. I'll be checking the contest regularly to update standings. Since the thread may last longer than a year, we can declare winners at...

Being a Mansloot and T

Just curious if anyone has blood work that suggests that T is spiked during periods of heightened sexual activity. I would be especially interested to see bloodwork during periods of monogamous activity vs. periods of being a manwhore. Just remember feeling alpha as phuck when I had more than one...

Hello to all, I'm posting this here because: 1) I just turned 35 2) I was hoping to find someone with similar experience, or at least someone who can relate and give advice In October, I weighed 180lbs with a 40 inch gut, and around 30% body fat. I'm 5'8". I was the classic skinny...

Possible tendon injury?

I'm worried that I may had injured or done something to short bicep head tendon. Yesturday, I finished working out my arms, mainly my biceps and today I woke up with slight faint blackish colour in front of my deltoids where the biceps tendons run through. It doesn't seem like I have raptured it...

Knee pain when squatting

I've done squats on and off since high school and never had knee pain but a couple weeks ago I felt some pain in my right knee on my last set. I don't think it's anything serious. It's not bad pain just a noticeable difference in that knee. It's near the top of the knee and almost feels like...

Yoga at +35

...or in my case 52 years old. Started back lifting again after an extended layoff and my flexibility, which has never been great, is woeful. Squats and deads are helping a little but considering Yoga to free things up. Anyone else out there an advocate?

Good weight lifting gloves for hand injuries?

I broke my hand a few years ago, boxers break, and had a plate and screws inserted. I have a lot of pain doing longbar curls on a preacher bench (my favorite exercise). Due to the surgery, my hand swells and I'm always worried that I'm doing long-term damage. I haven't worked out in 2 weeks because...

Working out late at night and eating afterwards?

I usually work out late at night, sometimes as late as 11pm. I work a regular 8-5 job, so I need to go to bed shortly after working out. So my question is, should I have a protien drink afterward, even if Im pretty much going right to bed after I shower? The Pro is: I want to take advantage of...

How to Warm up - Alan Thrall

A topic that doesn't get the attention it deserves (isn't this the most important part of your workout?!), thought I'd share Alan Thrall's latest video where he (as usual) covers it thoroughly. Thank you Alan Thrall! I can't say enough good things about his "how to" vids (his gym footage is...

Probs estimating BF% (Pics)

I have been using a Omron body fat scanner for the month that I have been on a diet/cut. My weight has dropped 7.5 lbs since jan 1st and I have dropped 1" off my girth. My goal is to drop a total of 22lbs by June 1st. It's a tall order but I am totally focused (almost obsessed) in getting there. ...

Burning Out?

Hey guys, I am only on my 3rd month at the gym, but due to circumstances with a busy life, I can only work out at 10:30 at night. This has been going well for quite some time, but I am up with the kids at 7:30am, so even 6 hours of sleep is a luxury. my current gym schedule is 5 days, working...

Recovery time.

How much more recovery time do you all need between heavy days since you hit mid 40's and beyond? Compared to when you were in your 20's. I'm talking about a kick ass squat or deadlift day hitting 5-7 sets of 2-5 reps at around 80-90% and then some assistance. Or are you the same. This is more...

Reverse curls ?

Way back in the time of the dinosuars, I used to be a curling freak. I was very strong at it, and I did all kinds of variations of it, for my workouts, including reverse curls. I remember that I used to reverse curl probably 80% or 85% of what I could curl normally, with a curling bar, and an...

This Week in the O35 (pics/vids)

Hey guys & gals, Can we start a revolving pic thread? I think it'd be fun if we had a "current" pic thread. Sort of a "What did you do this week?" thread. Rules: 1. Pic/Video must be of you 2. Pic/Video must be LESS than 7 days old 3. Poster must be OVER 35 YEARS OLD.
