BCAA'S...are the benefits worth the cost?

Thumbs up finally hit 3 plate deadlift... (weak) @ ~148lbs

skinny bastard here. more reps, lighter weight or less reps, but bigger weight?

so atm im like doing any excercise from 8-12 reps x 4 sets, if i can do more than 12, i add weight. however my mate is trying to convince me to do 5 reps but add more weight and do 5 sets. which one should i choose?
