I have a problem getting rid of my belly and do not have any idea what to do next. I am very fit, I work out 5 times a week if not 7, with 3 good days of heavy cardio. I do 8-12 mile runs with a 20lb weighted vest at least once a week. I have great control over my diet. I currently have been eating 500 calories per day, usually in the form of zucchini/cucumber and avacado. I have tried different diets such as Paleo, and even have fasted for days on end, gone on pure rice diet, rice and lamb, rice and pasta, spreading out meals in small portions throughout the day, meal replacements, pretty much anything I can think of over the last 6 months.

I have hardly any fat on my body anywhere. You can pinch a slight amount from my arms, but there is almost nothing on any other part of my body besides about 1.5" around my belly. Like I said I work out almost daily. The last month alone I have lost 15 more pounds and still my belly sticks out very far from the rest of my body. I am 6'3" and ~165. It seems like the more weight I lose the worse my belly sticks out and my body is almost humorous looking because I am pretty thin besides the belly. I have read mixed reports about ab workouts but my diet is also pretty lean. If I "suck in" and flex you can see nice abs, but the belly just overtakes it when I breath normal. I thought it was a stomach issue and again have tried many different tips like eating 5 smaller meals a day, juice diets, fasting. Nothing seems to work.

Besides the belly I feel great, I just feel like there is nothing that has worked for the past 6+ months???

I'm currently cutting (5'10, ~200lbs) and am confused as to the order of importance of total calories, protein calories, and macros in general.

For example, I'm cutting on ~2000 calories a day. Is it more important that I hit my protein goal (~200g), my calorie total, or my macros (~44g fat, ~200g carb, ~200g protein)? I'm just not sure if I know what to focus on. I can hit my fat and protein goals no problem, but sometimes it's hard to hit my carb goal. Or other days I'll feel full/satiated and will have only hit my protein goal for the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'll throw my measlies at you.

**I realize hitting macro goals and hitting total calorie goals are closely related.

Hi,
So I'm definitely part of the "skinny" group of people since for my whole life..people constantly keep telling me to eat a sandwich--that's because they haven't seen me sitting down (stomach rolls) or in a bikini (fatty inner thighs). I'm a 5'5" woman and around 103 lbs the last time I checked. I am 23 years old. I took a hiatus from seriously working out for yearssss and finally got back on track just because I wanted to be healthy and to cut excess fat in certain areas (believe it or not I have some despite being called "skinny" all my life).

The reason I always look skinny to people (despite lack of activity and bad eating habits) is because I have a narrow frame with small bones. I gain fat only in certain areas and it accumulates to droopy-ish flab instead of adding width and bulk to my body. I have a fast metabolism too. So even though my eating habits in the past have been horrible..fast food, packaged processed food, junk food, and lack of water just to name some bad-for-you goods..I am still called skinny. By no means was I toned "skinny"...I was naturally skinny, but flabby.

So thus I started becoming more active. I've been biking for 8 miles 5 days a week for over 2 months. There are uphills, flat roads, and downhills to those miles. I have really noticed a dramatic difference in my glutes, butt, and outer thighs. They are now firm and solid. My abs are also much firmer than before due to adding core workouts to my daily exercise routine. My cardio consists of biking (5 days a week) and using a weighted hula-hoop for 15-20 minutes on certain days. I do some resistance training with a medium resistance band. And I throw some squats, lunges, and other leg exercises/lifts into the mix. My at-home workout session consists of crunches, pushups, and more and it often goes on for 1-2 hours a day because I get so into it that I don't want to stop.

I know spot-reducing will not work. So what is a girl to do about her still flabby inner thighs? I don't want to lose any weight. It sucks when the rest of your body is toned, while your inner thighs look like a round flabby bulge on your inner leg. When I sit, you can see the fat there laying flat on the chair, and making my thighs look huge. Ew. Thanks in advance!

Hey all,

Long-time lurker finally posting to get some advice, mainly on my abs and whether I have loose skin or a little more fat to lose, and perhaps a bf estimate. Every now and then, it distracts/discourages me, so some outside opinions could help!

About my fitness: I was overweight my entire life through my late teens, at which point I started to starve/yoyo for a few years down to about 175lbs - 180lbs (80 lbs lost). A year ago, I finally joined a gym and have been doing bulking/cutting cycles since. Now I am 24, 5'11", at 178lbs, but (I think?) my body looks better than it did last year.

Having put on more mass, my current plan has been to cut down to 160lbs to see what happens with my stomach. Just to hear what they had to say, I have talked to doctors who say it is loose skin: one said smart-lipo could fix it (to which I replied, "then so wouldn't cutting?" and he said no...), another said I'd need a tummy tuck (which doesn't seem worth it at $6,000, but I'm in an industry that requires a good body, so if that's the only fix...).

Anyway, I'm successfully cutting with my diet (80g carbs, 190g, 120 g fat). and gym workout (standard lifting plan, occasional cardio because I like it), but, I dunno, validate that pushing through the next few weeks to 10% body fat is the way to go, or suggest something completely different!

I feel like I've tried it all at this point. I'm committed to keep fighting the fight, I guess I just need help picking the battle!

Thanks! Now for pictures.

5 - 10 years ago (still too tender to post pictures from my obese teen years, but it might be important to note that, even at my heaviest, my stomach has always had that ridiculous "ledge" lip with all the fat directly above the belly button. It was never a big round belly that deflated into this shape, it has been the same shape that got smaller for the first few years, but has barely changed since then (at least as far as my brain can see.)

Pictures attached:
(Roughly the same weight a year later after going a little up and down with mini bulks and cuts.)
1 year ago body
1 year ago close up
Today body
Today close up
Last Month full body
Last Week full body

Thanks again! I know a lot of these threads come up, but I could really use some personalized feedback.

Hello, my name is Mike, a 20 year old from New England.

I'm 5'9"ish, 220 pounds. My main goals are conditioning and general athleticism, as I'm trying to succeed at joining the Military. My workouts are primarily focused on Bodyweight Exercises, Circuits, and HIIT. Recently, I have started counting calories, and have lost 20 pounds in about 3-4 months. Unfortunately, I can't give you my body fat percentage from measurements, but from examples I've seen, I am about 25-30% BF still.

As far as my diet goes, I am aiming for 200G Protein, 200G Carbs, and 44G Fat (40P, 40C, 20F).

I'm currently eating at 2000 calories a day, which, according to various online calculators, puts me at about -500 calories for a deficit. I plan on eating back half of what I lose from exercise.

If anybody could offer me any advice/input, it would be greatly appreciated, as I'm trying to learn from those who are more experienced than me. This is my first cut.

Thanks in advance!

Water: 60%
Muscle Mass: 63KG
BMR: 1950~

As you can see above, not really dramatic results, I just want to reach it slowly but surely.

I do have little fat around my stomach area, but I know that I have a six pack beneath the fat because I can see my middle abs. I believe that I need to go down to about 10% body fat to see my abs.

In conclusion, I am on a 1,500 calorie diet, with 90-100grams of protein, and no gym, just walking. I am not expecting to lose much weight at all, just body fat %, as I believe my weight is pretty healthy anyway, a 2-4 kg loss is all I'm aiming for. Is 90 days realistic for a six pack? what do you guys think? any advice?

To be honest I don't really care if i don't get those amazing abs, I just want to lose that little stomach fat, and since I have a lot of muscle mass (64kg), I think there's a good chance of seeing my abs.

Also, when i say 'diet' I don't mean those fad diets. My diet if fine, I am just eating 500 calories less than I normally do (with more protein intake) which will help me get the body fat down I believe.

All answers appreciated.

What kind of BF Calipers do people suggest?
Preferably NON digital, reliable and an accurate BF Caliper.
I want to measure my BF with the skinfold test, and going to the doctors and getting it checked is not an option
