**CYTOGAINER LEAN MUSCLE MAXIMIZER**
My first log! Well more of a review really...
About me:
Male, 18, 6'0", 160lbs
The review:
I started cytogainer approx. 2 weeks ago in hopes of gaining some lean muscle mass (strength + bodyweight increases). I'd heard some good things about this product and loved using muscle milk so i though I'd try it out. I ordered a 6lb tub of Chocolate Malt and had a very strict regiment and diet.
----------------
Best ways to use Cyto Gainer:
*Before: Drink 45 minutes to 1 hour before your workout. You will notice higher energy levels, especially at the end of your workout.
* After: Your muscles absorb 80% of the amino acids and carbs necessary for repair and growth within 30-45 minutes after your workout.
* Evening: helps muscles rejuvenate overnight for faster recovery between intense workouts
-------------
I followed these instructions exactly and supplemented with a healthy and large diet. My tub is now 1 serving away from empty and I thought I'd share some experiences with the product.
Flavor -- 7/10, not too bad considering all the stuff that's wrapped up in the weight gainer, but there were a few times when I felt very queasy after drinking my shake... I gagged quite a few times, but this may not be so much of a flavor thing as a "my body cant handle this thing".
Price-- 5/10, the 6lb tub cost me a little over $30 and only lasted around 2 weeks. That's over $2 a day and with no results -- see next
Results -- 2/10, I honestly noticed nothing different. I was 160lbs when I started taking cytogainer, and I'm still 160lbs... Maybe I didn't give this weight gainer a fair time trial, but I was still expecting some better results. If anything, I was more tired after taking my shakes and I noticed no changes that I could attribute to the product.
---------------------
A recoup:
I used the product 3 times a day, as stated in the label and noticed no changes. Overall, a bad experience. If anything, cytogainer gave me reason to feel sick with no weight gain! :(
Maybe I just did not repond to this product, but either way, I was not pleased with the results.
------------
Here's the product description for some further reading:
CYTOGAINER
LEAN MUSCLE MAXIMIZER
Cyto Gainer is a calorically dense, easy-to-digest lean muscle maximizing formula.
Benefits of using Cyto Gainer:
Combined with a serious strength training regimen and a sensible, healthy diet, you will notice immediate gains in muscle mass and bodyweight when supplementing with Cyto Gainer.
* Efficient: Cyto Gainer is almost entirely complex carbs and ultra high quality whey protein. The protein is glutamine-rich, partially pre-digested whey peptides for easy digestibility - it gets into your muscles fast. Carbs are complex maltodextrins from corn hybrids - stabilizes energy and prevents sugar crash.
* Growth: Promotes an anabolic environment in your body - no more muscle catabolism due to lack of calories
* Digestibility: Allows massive caloric intake without the digestive distress and extra fat of solid meals
* Convenience: Mixes instantly in water so you can ingest calories immediately after training. No blender required.

Ive got to disagree with you.
I met with a personal trainer before I started working out and have a very strict regiment.
I gained 30 lbs. from Oct to Dec, and my strength improved dramatically.
I'm still gaining strength, but no weight.
In the future, please do some research before making such claims.

euh... cytogainer will give you the extra calories... but if you dont get enough calories in your diet, then you won't gain weight.

hmmm.. that could be it, but I honestly think I was getting more than plenty to begin with.
Thanks for the observation though

there are other possibilities bro.
I am doing more cardio <-- which could be a factor
But all in all, I'm just trying to relay my experiences with the product. I only used it for two weeks and maybe that's why I didn't see any drastic changes. BTW, There are better ways to go about suggesting things rather than telling me I'm ****ing moron. And yes, I DID my research. :)

if you started at 130ish and are now at 160ish at 6' id say youre an ecto
ectos dont need cardio at all, if youre trying to build muscle its ALL in your diet
if you expected to see results in 2 wks you must not have been doing this very long...
ive used cytogainer alot and while it is expensive it is an effective weightgainer

if you really are serious about bbing drop the swimming & up your cals, carbs, and protein
or
you can keep swimming but youll have to SERIOUSLY up your cals, carbs and protein to see any results
IMO for us ectos bbing is 85% diet and 15% training

has anyone noticed that he says he gained 30 lbs in 3 months (Oct - Dec). I find it very unlikely that it was clean weight. Even if it was a full year in between, that is very difficult and if it is true, then the product has helped tremendously. If you gained that much weight in that period of time, why did you switch to cytogainer? Bodybuilding is about consistency, not quick fixes.

Well I wasn't eating healthy before I started working out, and I had literally no muscle mass. I started the product two weeks ago... I started cytogainer because I had tried muscle milk as a protein shake and liked it, and cytogainer seemed to provide all of that protein plus more...
ohh, and I stayed consistent with my workouts and diet, wasnt trying to fix anything at all. I just think I should maybe go back to my old supps (Animal Pak and Pump), up my diet, and go from there.
again, this is just my personal experience with the product. Conclusion: it's not for me.

I hear ya. Lift Heavy, Lift with strict form, Lift till your nuts fall. That is set one, repeat. Add a clean, high calorie, high protein (1g per lb of body weight) and should start seeing some mass.

I'd say with Cytogainer you probably didn't give it enough time. 2 weeks isn't that long to see weight gains and even if you were to, it probably wouldn't be more than a pound a week. So, either give it another shot or try another one. Keep at it.

From a guy who went from 165 to 200lbs in a year, I can tell you that you're probably not eating enough/often enough. Gaining is simple...err maybe a little bit more difficult at your age of metabolism. If you've been working out for a while now and gained weight/strength and suddenly it seems you can't go any further...guess what...honeymoon is over. The period where you can gain size and stay ripped is pretty much over. You can now either bulk up or cut down and rip up...not both. Time to learn how to bulk :)
The key? eating. Always. If your 160 and want to be 180...start eating like you weigh 180 already. Stop the cardio and focus on wieghts. Especially at 18....unless your a sport runner...it's unneccassary and hindering your gains. Bulk up til about the end of March (use Cytogainer...real gains etc...whatever) but EAT good clean foods and plenty of them. Find a caloric needs calculator to figure out how many calories you need to maintain 180 lbs. Eat THAT much (and a little more)...then after you've gained all the muscle you can without getting tooooo fat. CUT!!! But that's another thing....
P.S. If you ever seriously wonder why you're not getting results from the proteins/pills/creatines/NO's etc....turn the label over and over til you find the word SUPPLEMENT..as always...the change starts with you.
- Good luck bulking :)

P.S.S.
If all else fails.....SQUATS SQUATS SQUATS...your legs harness a serious amount of potential for wieght gain/testosterone release and oxygen usage.

I completely agree with Aecannon.
Gaining weight comes down to calories expended vs calories consumed. If you didn't gain any weight that simply means that you used nearly the same amount of calories you consumed. So logically, to gain weight you need to increase how much you are eating or decrease how much you are expending. If you dont want to stop swimming you need to eat more. No supplement, creatine, or anything is going to get you to pack on size if you aren't eating enough food.
Do you keep track of what you eat or have a typical day's diet you could post up for us?
Also, when you started using cytogainer did you use it in place of something? Say you would generally eat a pre workout meal of xxxxxxxxx then once you got cytogainer you just swapped your meal (or other shake) for cytogainer? Same question for when you used it at night.

Someone once siad:
130-170 Easy
170-190 Hard
190-210 Damn Hard
210-230 Excruciating
This seems to hold true all across the board (assuming a similar height). What got you to where you are now won't cut it anymore. I found this out the hard way.
