View Full Version : 2 Month Spring Break Plan Needed

Okay -

Here's the skinny. Over the last year I managed to drop approx 115 lbs. This was mostly all fat. I've NEVER been a muscle guy. In fact, I've never even lifted weights. Anyway, I'm going to Spring Break this year and it's the first year I can go to the beach without a T-shirt.

At present, I'm about 175 lbs, 6'2". My waist (around the naval) is 33". (And, I'm 35 yo +) My goal for Spring Break is two fold - 1.) have a six pack and 2.) look the best possible in swimming trunks.

Now, here's the deal! I HATE weights and would prefer to just run 10 miles a day... BUT, I know this won't get the results I want. So, I want to know the best plan for an overall look that will give me the quickest results. Normally, I'd research this, but as I only have two months before March 1st, I need to just get a plan and stick with it.

As a side note, I do NOT wish to get "big," I just want to be muscular. And, I'm not too overly interested in spending huge amounts of time each day at the gym. [Almost sounds like I'm not willing to put forth the effort - not true, I am!]

Finally, I have printed out the list of workouts given on one of the stickies, but this still means me picking and choosing. Anyone with a detailed plan (idea) for the "anti-weight training look good in two months" thing?

Avi

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but two months isn't much time to see drastic results. Are you planning on making this a "lifestyle" change? Meaning are you going to continue to lift even after spring break?

I would recommend that you start Rippetoe's program which will put a new lifter on track. But I am unsure about your commitment level. Not trying to be rude here. Just pointing out that two months is not that much time to see drastic results.

okay.. you said that you've never lifted weights, right? since you've never lifted weights in your life.. I would advice you to start with a low volume, low intensity mesocycle that is designed mainly to increase tendon and ligament strenght.Once a foundation is made you should increase the volume and intensity towards muscle growth.. I am sorry but I don't think that you will see much results in the next 2 months.

You're pulling this answer out of your ass. You don't know what the guy looks like.

OP, post your pic and what you were doing previously (were you lifting weights?)

No I was not pulling that out of my ***. Read the OP's post. This comment by the OP is the sign that you didn't read. "In fact, I've never even lifted weights." I find it very hard to believe that someone who has NEVER worked out before will be ripped in only two months time. If you think that can happen too, then I have a bottle of Cell Tech to sell you. ;)

Really? Is that a 2 lb bottle? Awesome.

To the OP, yeah, if you've never lifted weights before you're a little late on starting for Spring Break. And what the hell are you doing going to Spring Break at your age?

Guy what the heck is someone your age going to springbreak for, I hope you are taking your kids with you because otherwise that is just kind of pathetic and it really won't matter what type of shape you are in you are still going to be the lame ass old guy trying to party with college kids. I am in my mid 30's and would not think of going to Spring Break, go to Thailand and molest girls you big perv.
If you are going with your family I take everything back and good luck gaining the weight. Actually on the right program you can make pretty decent gains, at least 5 pounds lean body mass. Newbie gains are the best. A good HST program, type it in the search engine, would be a good starting program or a Max OT program.

Maybe he's too busy hitting the weights?

he must be out running to get big! What an idiot! If it was that easy, everyone would do it. I commend him trying, but he is just not ready

Man.... You guys are a hoot. For all who really offered some advice - I appreciate it!

Point 1 - I didn't respond because I'm not online all day.

Point 2 - My committment - maybe you didn't see that I have been committed to losing weight for over a year and have managed to loose 100 + pounds!

Point 3 - I must have forgot to mention that that I go to Spring Break EVERY year - of course, I didn't think that really mad a difference.

Point 4 - for the lame asses - I happen to do work AT spring break!

Point 5 - someone mentioned that you don't have a pic from which to judge. This is true ( I will do a self pic today or tomorrow and post). At that time, two things will be obvious. 1.) I LOOK 25 and 2.) I'm not too too far from being muscular seeing that I don't have lots of Fat.... that only leaves bones, skin and.....

This was my first post and I can now see why the admins posted the "must read" sticky.

One more thing

I'm no idiot guys and gals.... I know two months gives nothing in the overall picture.... I'm only saying I want to be "the best possible."

Thanks to Jason_bh, fabian1984 and Wh0died for the serious responses.

Fabian1984 - can you translate "low volume, low intensity mesocycle" for me? Or, point me to where I can find a regime like this?

Wowzer!

Uncle Gadget???

For getting the most out of these next 2 months, I'd suggest doing a high volume type of program. Maybe a push/pull/legs split doing it twice a week. Make sure you eat right. I know that it can be difficult to make sure you're eating enough after losing so much weight - a little paranoia is likely to surface - but realize that you can asses yourself along the way, meaning that you can take a look at yourself in a month and if you've put on more fat than you're comfortable with, you still have a month to get rid of it. Something else I might suggest is going on creatine 3-4 weeks before spring break. It might help you look a little bigger.

By the way: congratulations on your fat-loss. Do you have an problems with loose skin? (everyone notice the correct use of the word "loose")

Hey thanks for the response. Can you give me a little more detail on "push/pull/legs split." I'm not at all sure what this means.

Loose skin - lol.... I was worried about this. I have a little. It's not to obvious. Luckly, (so to speak) my fat was stored in an area that "can go back." If you're interested, you can see some before and after pics by going to 43things.com and searching Avichai. In fact, it gives my entire regime from when I started. The "after" pics were taken when I was around 215 lbs or so.

Thanks,
Avi
