I moved up here about a year ago and i am slowly starting to explore. This last summer i finally went swimming in the rivers, went wakeboarding on the lakes, i've been goldpanning in the creeks/rivers
Well down the street from me they used to do hydrolic mining and now its basicly a 4x4 park. Every winter all the 4x4 vehicles in the area go down there for a Winterfest wheeling trip.
I went hiking down there this last weekend and this is what i found
Heres the pics

This is what the land looks like after Hydromining in the Late 1800s
If you can imagine a mountain right in the middle of that then you'll know how the land looked like before. What they did was dig a drift mine into the mountain with several shafts going in different directions and then they filled each shaft with tons of TNT and blew the entire mountain up and then used the big water cannons to wash the dirt and rock down into their sleuthboxes to collect the gold.

At the top of that mountain on the left a mansion used to reside there but they tore it down and moved it after the mine was shut down

Heres some of the drainage, people seem to like to dump garbage everywhere  Some of the garbage i found though is from the early 1900s, i found an old truck bed, some truck seats, someone dumped oil filters and old air filters, a lot of tires. I didn't hike far into the hydromining though maybe i'll find an old Model T or something

Kinda creepy walking around a cementary where several people were buried in the 1860s

It says "DANGER: KEEP OUT". Im just taking a wild guess here, but I dont think it would be wise to explore deeper.

it said that in one pic...wasnt sure if that was for the entire area, or a small part...hard to judge from the pics
besides, rules are meant to be broken...just ask the people from the descent :D

The danger Keep out sign is only for the bridge since it got washed out. Everyone rides their quad/dirtbike or drives their Jeep through the hydromining area. The bridge is dangerous because its a 100 foot fall down into the creek. You can see the sharp sides of the creek walls in one of the first couple of pics.
