what do you guys consider a reasonable gain in LBM for 2 shows1 year apart? Also, for those who have competed in more than 1, what is your average yearly gain? I was thinking 4-5 lb is reasonable. REMEMBER WE'RE TALKING NATURAL!

some of it would depend on how long youve been training...a guy who has been doing it for 5-10 years aint gonna gain as much as a guy in his 2nd year etc

a sleep lifter we are young so we will pack on muscle faster than a guy in his early 30 or late 20

we could put on 10-15 or even 20 pouns

A lot of it has to do with bodytype and many extrinsic factors.

Roughly 6-7 months of gaining followed by 4-5 months of cutting for the show. I would say a dedicated individual training properly with excellent nutrition and rest could gain 6-10 lbs of strict LBM. This is a relatively new trainee 1-4 years experience.

there's no sure way to tell, could be 5lb muscle 35 lb fat/water, could be more muscle. It depends on how your eating and lifiting is.

As for gaining 15lb in an offseason, it's not impossible, but go to the store and look at 15lb of beef...thats a ****LOAD of tissue to synthesize naturally in 6-8 month offseason.

i was 128-130 lean mass on august 26(day of my comp), today i'm 143 lean mass, i only trained seriously for the 6 months before my competition and 4 of those were spent dieting, lifted on and off during high school and barely lifted in the summer and fall prior to this spring.

thats awesome man! If you are new AND spent all that time dieting you have too things going for you: 1. A ramped up metabolism and highly anabolic state.
2.) Newbie gains.

Basically your body is on overdrive because this is all new to you. On average though, do you think you can gain that between shows consistently?

13 pounds in 12 weeks? most likely not, i've already seen gains begin to slow, most of that came from a hypetrophy specific and escalated density training program back to back. i would definately say anywhere form 5-10 pounds but as we get older the gains in size will diminish but improvements can be made every year.
