Yes, congrats on the PB! :)

How was your trip?

trip was bad, it was for work. They only send me to other work sites to fix major problems. Hotel was ok, food sucked. I busted my hump and get nothing, not even a pat on the back....

anyway, weigh in tomorrow is cancelled, i'm holding uber water from all the extra sodium....

I understand. I do the same thing after trips away from home. I need time to bring the body back to baseline.

Nice workout Mike, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I took a small MIA at the end of last week and you had been on vacation before that :)

I hope the shoulder/back workout goes well, those are always fun to do.

Do you refuse to fly? Or will you fly but hate every second of it? I always hate the landings but don't mind the rest of it. I always think something is wrong based on sound on the landing lol.

Grats on the 100 lb incline presses. That is a pretty big milestone. How are those pushups to failure treating you? At first they are pretty nice then towards the end I always end up hating life lol, atleast it is quick.

Also, I noticed the 800 lb plate squats, that is damn impressive, keep up the good work. I am back into my normal routine now so I should be around alot more than I have been for the past week.

ok today was going to be shoulders. I started the workout...

I had a killer headache before going to the gym, but I decided to suck it up and go anyway. As I strained during the presses, my killer headache got worse. It was throbbing something fierce. I dialed it in and went home to take some aspirin. Normally a simple headache wouldn't stop a workout, but this was killing me. Oh well, the 2 aspirin knocked it out and I was fine for the rest of the afternoon.

So, I cheated badly this weekend. I had my 30th (yuck) Birthday party and father's day, so I basically went completely off my meal plan. I stepped on the scale today and was not happy with how much water weight I had accumulated over the weekend. Friday was 231, today was 239! Oh well, I've been in this forum long enough to know that the water weight will take a few days to drop off.

keep it up bro... cheese was my downfall too i can eat as much sugar as i want no fat but as soon as i would start with cheese its over so i know to stay away its a lifestyle not an activity keep it up hve days where u have what u want to eat and keep it going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you on the cheese. When we were in Chicago I went to this ethnic market and found some Armenian string cheese. It was incredible. We just fnished the second one the other day. No more cheeses for a while for me. :o

okay so yesterday I took my son down to the pool and I was tossing him in the water. I must have pulled a muscle in my lower back right above my hip bone. I didn't feel anything until maybe 3 hours later, but man that sucker hurts! It hurts the worst when I shift my weight, bend over, or lay on it. It is very tender. Because of the pain, I didn't do hack squats today. Otherwise it was a pretty nice workout:

Legs

leg press
270*8, 450*8, 560*4, 450*8, 360*8, 270*8

seated hamstring curls
90*8, 135*6, 90*8, 45*8

single leg extensions
45*8, 55*7, 65*6, 20*8

I've had some pretty nice success by alternating some weights. For my chest workout, I lift very heavy on incline press one week, and the next I lift for reps. Using this same thought process, I'm going to alternate my leg workout. One week I will use the leg press, while the next I will use the plate loaded squat press.
I know they have to work different muscle groups because in the leg press I can't get much more than 600 lbs. While in the squat press, I can very easily go over the 800 lb mark.

okay so yesterday I took my son down to the pool and I was tossing him in the water. I must have pulled a muscle in my lower back right above my hip bone. Take it easy on whatever may effect the lower back, back injuries are pretty much the worst ones if they get bad enough.



I've had some pretty nice success by alternating some weights. For my chest workout, I lift very heavy on incline press one week, and the next I lift for reps. Using this same thought process, I'm going to alternate my leg workout. One week I will use the leg press, while the next I will use the plate loaded squat press.

I wasn't much into the exotic cheeses, but does anyone remember Baby Bells? The small serving cheese in the plastic wrap? I used to eat those by the costco pack, they were delicious. And nothing makes a good sandwich like the right type of cheese.

Awesome workout despite the problem with your back.

If you are doing well on that type of routine (low reps one week, higher reps the next) you may want to look into P/RR/S training. It is great as you will be throwing a different stress to the muscle every week. If you want more info, pm me.

Yes, I remember the Baby Bells. Anyone ever have "squeaky" cheese? When I go to Wisconsin I have to stay away from dairys or I leave with a bag which never makes it home. :eek:

:cool: I am a sick person...I wouldn't mind having leg DOMS every once in a while. Currently I am having some killer chest DOMS from Wednesday's workout.

I would rather be working than packing...which I have to get back to soon. :(

haha imagine this... i did all these pulsed squats and then ran with my dad for leg day on tuesday..... sat on a plane for like 8 hours on wed and walked all over SAN and CHI airport.... talk about leg soreness :P

that was a good workout, i was ogling those military presses... takes alot of core stability to put up 175lbs upright without swinging like a monkey, looks good :)

and that back stuff, your right... ill even not feel it as much when i work out, but have back pain a day later. and its not quite the same kind of soreness as with other muscles, have to be careful and stretch. in fact i could use my chiropractor right now :P

so it is 2 days after my leg workout and I am more convinced that alernating each week between the press machine and the squat press is a great idea. I can definetly feel both of them when I am using them; however I really don't get the DOMS with the squat that I do with the press. I've become one of those sickos :D I look forward to that pain, for some reason, I think it means that I had a nice workout....oh well

chest and cardio is tomorrow

weight loss has been at a stand still, nothing happening on THE SCALE. However, I am starting to see changes and I'm very pleased with that. The scale could never change again, and if I keep dropping fat, i'm fine with that.

here are some of the changes that i'm talking about; these things haven't happened in a long, long time so i'm pleased as anything!

1. on my inner forearms, veins are now visible
2. during arm workouts, my forearms look shredded! This is only during specific arm movements, but, wow!
3. on my fat gut :D it used to just be a round mound of fat, now it is evident that I have the start of some abs. It is NOT a six pack by any means, however, there is definetly 2 lines running on the outside of where the six pack would be, (again, A HUGE improvement from the roundness of before)
4. I can actually see a huge difference in my chest/upper body in the mirror. I rate this one pretty high, because I find it very difficult, besides looking at pictures, to notice any change whatsoever, but this change is visible even to me.

There's probably more, but I have to go to work.....it would probably be easier if I bought a camera so I could post pictures....

I like alternating exercises, keeps the muscle and the mind form getting bored. Good stuff on the visible changes, those are the motivating things that keep us coming back for more. Good stuff Mike.

ok I'm back from Florida, but Im now at my parents house to celebrate my 30th birthday party with my side of the family. The bad news is yet another day without going to the gym, but the good news is that they have a pool, so I got a killer cardio session in earlier this morning.

My conference in FLorida was okay, we were in a nice hotel, but they booked us solid so there was hardly any free time. They had some nice food to eat, and I did eat somethings that were off my diet, but I was able to load up on protein. When I stepped on the scale yesterday, I weighed 234! That was awesome because I know i'm retaining some water from one stop on the way home with some fast food. I met some pretty cool people down there, including Lee Labrada, Marc Lobliner (Scivation) and I got to meet The Beast...those guys at Scivation are awesome!!!!

Tomorrow I will be leaving my parents house and traveling to Allentown, Pa to shop around for some apartments. I'm hoping this is as quick and painless as possible....

Arms/abs on Monday....have a nice weekend all!!!

ok here's the scoop....

I wasn't supposed to start in my new position for a few weeks, but there was some issues that arose that made me start there last week. Yeah....and I don't get my new place to live until the middle of August. That means that I'm stuck in a crappy, (and I do mean crappy!) hotel for the week, and then I get to travel back home for the weekends. It is not the best situation, and I can't wait until I get the middle of Aug!

The good news is that while I was up there last week, I got a chance to look around and found the Gold's Gym where I will be working out. It is soo much nicer than the gym I work out in now! This new gym is about 10x the size of my current gym and has newer weights and newer machines!

I worked out twice in the gym; a chest workout and a leg workout. The chest workout was standard, and i'm not going to post it here. The leg workout was pretty amusing, so I am going to post that:

Machine Leg Press
180*8, 270*8, 360*6, 450*6
Now these numbers were VERY VERY LOW for me and I was confused as to why I couldn't lift more. I was thinking that I lost huge amounts of muscle in the 2 weeks that I hadn't done legs :rolleyes: after much confusion, I finally figured out that the there was a STARTING WEIGHT ON THE MACHINE OF 100lbs! That meant that I needed to add 100lbs to the actual weights that I had loaded on.....

V-Squat machine

Ok, I'm back, it's been a crazy insane month. We have finally moved into our new place and are busy unpacking. I thought that I had found a nice gym, but even though it is close, it takes forever to get there because of traffic. Tommorow I will be driving to a gym that is closer to my house and checking it out. Hopefully it is acceptable....
I will now be posting with greater frequency as I attempt to hit my goals....

the gym that I visited today is within 3 miles of our house and has all of the equipment that I use, so my wife and I will be joining there. I had a workout today, but it isn't worth posting here. The long layoff and hotel stays have wrecked havoc on my system....one day at a time I guess....

Yeah the weight is dropping and I hate it! Battling mentally with it but to get ready for competition its a must. I am much happier at 255 so I will be happy when this is over. I wanna eat something besides chicken/brocolli.

Looks like you are having some great workouts. How is your new place?

Sorry I haven't been by for awhile, my new schedule is just killing me, I think when I finish this 18 month blitz I may look like a 65 yr old lol. good stuff again. Check your form if your delts are feeling the brunt. They do get worked but as you know the chest is where the burn should be. I have the same issues though.

thanks clown. If I roll my shoulders back, I don't feel it in the delts as much; the problem is that it is totally uncomfortable. I miss the incline bench! It is the only thing that my new gym doesn't have!
