Hi,
I'm just getting back into things after a bit of a layoff and looking to get competing again in the new year. Training's going well but what was always a sticking point for me and probably will be again, is getting rid of water @ pre-contest. In the past i've tried just about everything there is to try (or it feels like it) with mixed results but this time i'm thinking of trying diuretics as well just to see if it'll give that extra boost i seem to need. I also want to try and work into things slowly with a decent schedule rather than risk a last minute rush.
So far i've had recommendations for MHP Xpel and Dyma-Retic but tbh i'm open to suggestions since whichever I go with i'm going to have to go mail-order so I want to get it right and not spend a month trying different things due to delivery delays.
Any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated as well since as I say, i've been out of things for a while.
Cheers/tia

well first you have to be sure if you really are retaining water, or if that's just an excuse for not being lean enough.
Its simple really, you don't need diuertics. Drink 2+ gallons of water a day leading up to the show so that your body is used to ex elling water at aregular rate. Then the night before the show, cut the water out. This way, your body will regulate naturally and continue to flush even though you have stoped drinking. The day of the show, just sip at the water.

don't cut water out... YOU CAN'T TRICK YOUR BODY. Your water balance isn't regulated by the day, or even the hour... it's regulated by THE MINUTE! If you cut out water the night before a show I garuntee you will be flat and stringy and unable to get a pump, not to mention you won't shed interstitial water

What about your friend Marc Loblinger who follows the cut diet he also says he cuts the water on show day and just sucks on ½ ice cub if mouth is dry he even sips on water throughout the day as minimum as possible one
day before the show.
Was he flat and stringy on his shows ??? I thinks every person and
every body reacts deferent.

I don't care what you know or what you don't know ... but not
everything that works for you must work for everybody.
Do you think only your diet works ?????
I want to know was Marc flat and stringy on his shows ???

i haven't seen pics from marc's shows. Somethings are slightly different for different people but let me tell you, unless you have some kind of kidney dysfunction, you bet your ass your water regulation is pretty much the same

I'd just like to add that layne does know what he's talking about and his methods do work. I know first hand. I drank almost a gallon of water throughout the day before I got onstage for pre-judging and I was one of the leanest and dryest people there. Look at my avatar if you don't believe me. I'm not saying that cut diet doesn't work, I actually have the book and have read the entire thing, I'm just saying that Layne's method works well.

I'm not all that experienced with the issue but sipping water and black coffee back and forth works wonders for me.
