Hey, extra time to be even more awesome?

ahhh! You're right about having more time! and I do hope to achieve the super-awesome status 'till then ;)

So anyway, I took some time to think about my contests schedule, and well it seems like I'll do the FCPAQ show in November, however I want to do both Fitness and Figure ....it means that I have to put my fitness routine up NOW!

I had been thinking about it for a while, a friend of mine mixes music and I'll have him do mine.... my theme is Navy pinup style, and I'll mostly use Christina Aguilera Candyman song...

OK, I am so out of touch with pop culture. This is the first time I've seen this video/heard the song. It's hilarious! It has a big-band sound and looks like a wholesome 30's/40's soldier dance party. On one hand, you feel like you're looking at an old war movie. But, mixed in are some interesting lyrics...

Josie, it's also my first time seeing the video or hearing the song (without wailing guitars, it's probably not on my playlist :) ) but as I was watching it, i thought the two piece blue outfit would be perfect for you. The reason I'd choose the two piece for you is that it really shows off the abs and the lats nicely, plus I think it gives the illusion of more height. If you go with the white two piece, though, I'd definately lose the bow on the hat. That is pretty distracting. The solid blue suit to me seems to blend the torso and flatten out the muscle definition.
I can't believe I'm asking this, but what style shoes are you wearing with the outfit?

I love the music and think it will suit your personality perfectly. I like both outfits. My only worry is that the cut of the leg on the first one might shorten the leg, and I think you want as much length as possible.

I really love the baby blue too, and blue is MY color, I've emailed Sylvia Tremblay earlier asking her when I could have it and of course how much it will cost me :D

Actually it's the PinUp culture I'm obsessed about... as in really obsessed! It's the theme of my September shoot also. I'll even have retro cars to fit (someone is letting us use a very rare 50s cream collector's car... but I can't remember the brand... all I know is that it's worth 300 000$ ... let's just say I'll be VERY careful!!)
I think if fits me and this song always puts a smile to my face when I hear it, my last routine song was "I like the Way" by Body Rockers, it's such a sexy tune!!! The audience really responded to it as well!

The good news is that the upper body is putting on good mass, the bad news is that I have way too much fat

The back is the hardest part, the fat seems to stay put even though I have gained quite a lot of muscles.

Looking good as usual, Josie! The abs are definately starting to pop. I wish I could put on mass as well as you have. Once you finish your cut, that back is going to look fierce.

So we left for our country house and escaped the heat wave that struck Montreal, lucky us!!!

We spent an amazing week!! The weather was amazing, we went to the lake and even survived a big hailstorm. It was great!! (I love storms)!

I went to the gym religiously and had fun with the owner of the local gym, diet has been really good as well, (I feel bloated today but don't know why)

We made a deal, Renaud, the gym owner, and I, he will twitch my program to fit with his gym whenever I go there. It is a VERY small gym!.
He's a very nice guy!
Extremely into competitions, so of course it makes me happy
(we both get all excited when we talk about comps!!!)

On another note, I spoke with Sylvia Tremblay, she's making me the blue pin-up suit from the video!!
I love her :D
Plus it'll be soooo cheap, she might as well give it to me :p

My son as changed so much in the last 2 weeks, he's like a little man now... not a baby anymore :(

He's learned to pull himself up...
He's learned to drink with a straw
He's learned to drink under the faucet!
He wants to climb on everything BUT he's not fully stable yet just standing up! (it's a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!!)
He's has two other teeth (5 total)... but since they're not the front two... it's the fangs.... he looks like a little vampire!!! (it's a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!!)
He's learned to make grimaces (pull tongue) (it's a-d... you get the point :D)

I'll upload pics and will post some later on!

Well all in all.... I had a great week as a mom!

okey dokey... today I was meeting my trainer so I did 45 minutes on the elliptical and at least a few reps of all the following :eek:

It will look like this:

Day one (Quads, Back, Shoulders & Rotators)

A1 - BB Peterson step ups
B1 - Back Squats 1/4
B2 - Leg Extension
C1 - One arm chin-up + Parallel chin-up
C2 - DB Pull Over
D1 - Unilateral DB Shoulder press
D2 - Unilateral Shoulder abduction
D3 - Unilateral Rear Dealt
In 3 weeks I add:
E1 - BB Shoulder press
E2 - Seated Row

Day Two(Hams, Pecs, tiabialis)

A1 - Leg Curl Prone
A2 - RDL Mix Grip
B1 - Unilateral Hip Extension
B2 - Pecs Press
B3 - Power flyes
C1 - Tibialis machine


Day Three(arms,abs)
A1 - Zottman curls
A2 - Midline Hammer curls
B1 - BB Triceps close grip
B2 - EZ Bar Triceps pushdown
C1 - Machine biceps curls

Today was my first plyometrics private training with Eric Chevrier... he's a beast and a heartless monster (yes that means he made me sweat!!!!!!!!)

I love him :D

He's a trainer, amongst other thing, for Olympic power lifters, Olympic bobsleigh people (how do you call them anyway??); professional football player...

So I started my day at the gym at 8:30... I did 25 minutes on the elliptical until I started with him at 9:00....
He kept me for 90 minutes... (I paid for 60) and kicked my a$$.

At one point I had to stop I was too dizzy! :eek:

I did more than my share of Overhead Squat and Push Press behind neck, I felt like I was jumping around like a fool but to my surprise, he kept telling everyone within earshot just how perfect my form was and how stable and flexible I am.
He said he's rarely seen a first timer being so good.

Me likey!

But of course... I had to do my regular training after that... so I went on and did day 3.. because there was NO way I would do any legs after all this.. (just don't tell my trainer I started with 3...

Day Three (arms,abs)

A1 - Zottman curls (http://www.shapefit.com/biceps-exercises-zottman-curls.html)
1 x 6 @ 15 lbs
5 x 6 @ 12.5 lbs
I figured that with 6 sets to perform, a bit less weight would be wiser

A2 - Midline Hammer curls
Explanation: start with the dumbbells in your hands, in a pronation grip and hold them wider than normal, about two inches away from your thighs. From this wide start position, curl the dumbbells not just up, but also IN, towards the midline/center of your body. You will finish the curls with the dumbbells in front of your chest (not your shoulders), with the inner bell of the dumbbells touching.
1 x 8 @ 15 lbs
1 x 8 @ 12.5 lbs
4 x 8 @ 10 lbs
these are a bit harder than I first expected

B1 - BB Triceps close grip
1 x 8 @ 40 lbs
4 x 8 @ 50 lbs
I figured that with 5 sets to perform I should use less weight but it was clearly not enough... will start with 60 lbs next time

B2 - EZ Bar Triceps pushdown
5 x 8 @ 45 lbs
was ok... will kept it stable for next time

C1 - Machine biceps curls
like the preacher curl machine... but the flat one.
3 x 8 @ 35 lbs
I hate this machine

C2 - Standing French Press (pulley) (http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Triceps/CBBentoverTriExt.html)
3 x 8 @ 40 lbs
I was surprised by how little weight I could manage??


In all honesty, I was supposed to do between 4 or 5 sets of all the following, but I ran out of juice after the 3rd set!!

Explanation: start lying on the floor, in a crunch position, o nly you have to hold a BB stating between your feet and holding it on top of you, you do a crunch mid-way... and another one on top... it's brutal!!!.
3 X 10 @ 45 lbs
B-U-R-N-I-N-G

D3 - Reverse crunch on ABS
3 x 6 @ BW
B-U-R-N-I-N-G T-O-O M-U-C-H

By then it was 11:30... I figured 3 hours of intense training was enough! :rolleyes:

So my "close-by-gym" ... the really fancy one with the posh housewives has declared bankruptcy!
So much for paying 3 times the price and waiting MONTHS for the renovations to be done.

They didn't even call , my hubby just happened to go... and saw the sign in the door!

Lucky me I was due to renew at the end of this month.... but Nico did last month... now he has to call the credit card company to put a stop on the payments!

We did join the gym on the other side of the street, it's a hardcore gym... with all the machines I need and then some, a working sauna (!!!!) BUT it seems like a big meat market.

We'll see how it goes ... at least I'll be able to take a few saunas from now on :D

I have NO clue! I never count calories, I work with portions.
My guess is that I'm eating close to 2000 +/- 300 cals, I'm starting the low carb stuff now, I was supposed to start 2 weeks ago but since the comp got postponed... well I splurged a bit :D

I've noticed a few "persona" in the new gym, but of all of them, Mrs Cougar is clearly standing out more.. :D she has a nice body but trains so badly! I have never seen anything quite like this.
There's also Ms Anorexic (she used to train at my other gym though)... she must weight 90 lbs.... and has spent AT LEAST 1:30 doing cardio! That upsets me very much!

I'm glad you like the new gym. I belong to two right now. The only confusion is on how each plate weighted machine is set. Other than that, I love the flexibility.

LOL, the man was amazing (IE IT FREAGING HURT) somehow he looked like an exact copy of my real dad... I was mesmerized, had he be younger than me, I would have been sure we were related... wait maybe we are??? :confused:

Anyhoo, the point is, he a great massage therapist, he took care of a few problems I had, namely the butt pinch (seems like my hip flexor is not moving properly...amongst other things) he took care of the stiffness in my shoulders and neck... all is not fixed but it is a bit better, I was even able to manage a 15 minutes jogging session this morning. I'm seeing him again in 2 weeks! (well I'm on the waiting list!)

He says my body has to get used to the baby + coming back to a strong workout regimen too but that I'm not a lost cause :D

I have a really tight muscle that runs down the back of my hip and through the glute muscle on my left side. It sometimes bothers me so much. Lately it's been ok. I don't think a massage would help it, though, because it's so deep.


He did not only massage me, he made me move in a few ways to "unlock" things, I was very aware of my nudity underneath the towel, when, while lying on my side... he was standing behind me and he made me do the pelvis tilt :eek:
But it did work :p

I found a daycare for my son so today I had to go visit it and meet the lady to make sure she doesn't eat babies for breakfast :D I left home at 9:30.... and of course I packed my son's food.. but forgot mine... so I ate when I came back home ... at 3:00 :eek:

well the thing is I'm a very small person, Even when I weighted 216 lbs, people assumed I was a lot lighter, so when I have a bit extra fat, I look normal, but when I don't, then I'm extra small and all dressed up I'm often told I'm skinny (and it pisses me off because I have BIG muscles and boobage so I cannot be skinny!!)

Anyhoo, just to give you an idea of what I'm looking for... this is the abs I want back (well the lean part.. I want bigger and more defined abs)

LMAO Here's a story for you... my dad is a gentle giant.... sweetest man ever but he used to be compete in Bodybuilding... he's 6'3''... and IS HE HUGE! He's got the biggest hands I have ever seen... when I turned 14, we moved, I learned later on that he thought too many guys were hanging around the house ;)

Anyway, the first day we moved, my step-sister and I went for a walk and I met a boy at the local park... we were just walking back towards the house together when my father drove by... he was looking for us, to let us know he was going to get more boxes at the other place... when he saw the boy, he got out of the car and looked at the boy and told him "you.. if you ever get inside my house I will break your legs"

Well I ended up dating the poor guy for a year and he NEVER came inside :D

Aw Josie, don't beat yourself up! Kids get a lot of benefits from being in daycare. I know you have probably read this. It teaches them social interaction with other kids. Even getting the dreaded daycare colds better prepares their immune systems for being around other kids so they don't get as sick when they start school. Yeah it is tough as a parent to have to leave them there every day, but as long as you find a good place where they have a lot of interaction they will do great. :)

I totally understand. I think ANY parent feels a bit guilty when you walk out the door and leave the little critters with strangers. You feel like you're abandoning them. While all mine were in a day care, I made a point to go by and take them to lunch (McD's) once a week if possible (when they were old enough, of course). It always made them feel really special. When I took them back afterward, they were always "beaming" with pride that daddy had taken them to lunch....different from the other kids :)

Snatches are difficult aren't they? How do you find your balance and shoulder flexibility in the OH squat?

It is part of the fitness side of competing, I started it to gain more strength, and learn how to use explosive movements to develop muscular power, as well as the ability to generate a large amount of force quickly. I'll try to do it in my "off" day. My coach recommended it and I have to say I'm quite happy!

To be quite honest, I'm rather good :D LOL
BUT I have remember to push my shoulder a bit more to the back... not because I can't but because I'm afraid to fall back Eric says that I will fall quite a few times, so I better get used to it now LOL

Right now I only used the big bar and it's enough :D and I think I'm already addicted :p

I've over trained once... I did not listen to my coach who told me to rest for a whole week after my comp... I blew up like a balloon!!

But you kinda of reminded me to be careful!
Especially since I have all kinds of aches and pains! :eek:

Yep, you have to pay full price even though you may only bring him a few times per week...if you want to "keep your spot open". Or at least, that's the way it works around here....or back then...or something :)

Hubby started snoring after I had slept 15 minutes... so I couldn't fall back asleep... until almost 3... when Rockwell woke up screaming, (he has separation anxiety... it started a few days ago) so I had to rock him... but as soon as I tried to put him down it all started over again until 5 in the AM.

He woke up again last night but I decided to let him cry it out, it took quite a while but it worked.

I feel like such a bad mother!!!! but I know If I go every time he'll start waking up every nights!

That has to be way more than your body weight. You must have to strap yourself in so the weight doesn't pull you off the ground... :D

I don't want to in any way diminish Josie's thunder (because we know she's a total powerhouse), but it's likely a pulley setup difference. If you're using a cable crossover station with adjustable height, it's likely got several pulleys involved. This lessens the force required to move the weight. If you are on a pulldown station, the odds are that you have only a single pulley that transfers the weight directly. People always ask me why they are so much stronger on one machine or another -- it's all about mechanical advantage. Take a look at your pulleys next time you're in the gym :)

Actually I am much heavier... I'm 150 lbs! (which means I've lost 5 lbs in 2.5 weeks!!! :D

LOL actually I lift the same weight consistently and I use 4 different gyms, only one has a different weight, and you're right for this one the pulley is different.

I always use this type (http://gymratz.co.uk/commercial-gym-equipment/usrimage/dual_adjustable_pulley.jpg) when I lift 135 lbs, but can only lift 85 lbs on the high pulley that isn't adjustable (you know the one people usually use to do triceps rope pulldown)

I'm heavy... but not big
The last time, I was at 125 on stage, and at 5'1" this seems like a lot, but a size 0 was too big on me.

This time I think I'll be around 130 -135 on stage and I have a big round butt now!!! YEAH ME!

The reason you're heavy and not big is because you carry a lot of muscle. I've always wanted more muscle, so feel blessed. I can lift so heavy and it still takes me a while to put on muscle unless I'm willing to really eat everything in site and just get big -- which I'm not. ;)

The figure routine is only 30 seconds as opposed to 90 -120 for fitness

nah I'll stick with figure, here they like us very hard so I'll be ok, I can't see myself do bodybuilding at all, I think I really like the feminine aspect of figure and fitness and I wouldn't appreciate competing if it wasn't for it.

Before I post the workouts, I have to say that I spoke with my first boyfriend yesterday... he's professional HipHop dancer and will prepare my Fitness choreography.

It's in 10 weeks so I'll keep in mind that I might not be ready on time for fitness, even though I will work hard to make it happen. figure is dead on though!

I bought my new suit today, it's pink and very nice!
I'm trying to sell the green one now :rolleyes:

Yesterday I went to the gym with Julie, then went to MAC and spent my hubby's money on new makeup :D and we all went out afterwards
... I wasn't supposed to cheat.... since I have no cheats left...

well I did and feel very bad today! :(
