Hi all,
I am really trying to lose some weight. So far I have started going to the gym, and doing some weight training. Also I have cut out all fast food's, and fried foods, and have instead upped my intake or fruits and vegitables, and grains. My question is about the cardio side of things. Last night I tried to go for a jog. Man I barely got to the end of my apartment complex, before I was gasping for breath. My lungs where really tight. Could I walk for about 45 mins in the morning, or evening instead? Does walking do anything? I apprciate any replies =)

Actually some studies show that power walking( fast paced walking) and even walking are more effective in burning fat- aim for 45mins every morning on an empty stomach. Main thing to remeber when losing weight is diet, you MUST follow a low calorie(bodyweight in pounds *10), low fat and low simple carbs diet spread over at least 5 meals. Also ensure your protein intake is sufficent( at least 1 grams per pound of bodyweight).

I go for a power walk ever nite before bed. It works for me. But as far as the diet goes.... there are far too many diets that work. I use a high fat and protein diet with literally 0 carbs except after a workout. I have lost alot from it and maintained all muscle. also fitnessman and msfit swear by this type of diet.

i think there could be too things, either u havent been doing anything (seating around for too long), or maybe u have asthma.. i read a magazine article saying that some percentage of the population in the U.S didnt even know they had asthma becuse it developed when they were older. so maybe check with ur doctor.
peace

PS
unless u were trying to run all out on it which u shouldn't only jog at around 65% power.
