ive tried cytogainer, true mass, muscle juice, real gains, mega gainer, heavyweight gainer900, n-large2. muscle juice, n-large2, and heavyweight gainer900 put on the weight faster but i gained more fat than i should have. cytogainer and true mass are mostly equal didnt gain too much fat but didnt put on weight that fast. what worked the best for me was real gains, combination of sold muscle without too much fat and added pounds quicker than anything else

******** TechxMass is pretty good. Mix it with some eggs,pb, and oats and it tastes great. That being said, when it is done, I'm going to just make my own with regular protein powder...

plus its cheap, I got 7.5lbs for 30 bucks.

Can someone link me to cytogainer on this website? i wish to buy some but don't know what brand it is.. i tried to use the find function to find the cytogainer in all brands listing but could not find it.

P.S. Does cytogainer include Creatine in it? Would that mean i don't have to make a creatine drink as well as my protein drink?

Thanks in advance!

All you had to do was type in "Cytogainer" in the search box..

Cyto Gainer is made by cytosport. It has 3 grams of creatine in it, but i would definately take a creatine supplement, instead of relying on the 3 grams.

Aside from straight whey protein isolate the only protein supplement I've used is Muscle Milk, and it had incredible results. I gained over 40 lbs, about 25 lbs of lean mass, in 6 months. Although I now prefer a fat-gain free bulk, like that allowed by using a cyclical ketogenic diet.

This is how I would rate the gainer's I have tried.

Excellent
MHP up your mass (Fudge Brownie)
great taste, mixes well, barly and oats instead of maltodextrin, lots of bcaa and amino acids
BSN true mass (chocolate, strawberry)
great taste, mixes well, just the right amount of sweetness, good to take right before bed

Good
N-large 2 (chocolate)
mixes allright, flavor is quite good, pretty cheap for 10lbs

Meh
ON serious mass (chocolate)
serving size way to massive, didn't mix well, taste was pretty good, cheap price)
Champion gainer 900 (chocolate)
didn't mix well, insanely sweet, heavy powder
Muscle juice 2544 (chocolate)
didn't mix well, flavor ok, heavy powder not light and fluffy

I don't understand how this would justify being the best weight gainer. Your arguement is that it has 600 cals and 52g of protein? wow you really sold me. This thread is stupid since people don't know anything about ingredients and just list the only weight gainer they have tried.

Eat food! Lots of food! so many of you guys rely on sups when you should be eating food!

Thats odd your one of the few saying that here. When I seen flex wheelers diet plan when he was the winner, he stuck with a lot of whole foods, in fact one famous workout instructor/model/bodybuilder I seen interviewed on here said he doesnt even take protein shakes.

Most scientists still believe that vitamins and such arent any good after being processed, I wouldnt doubt nutrients are in that same spot too. Makes me think, my fish oil pills are "cold pressed" but that dont mean anything about what happens to the fish oil, just the pills pressing.

Whats up with all the excessive fats in these things? If I stay on my diet Ill barely be over a serving of that stuff in a few days, thanks to my current protein, or it would be even less

I dont care about the taste, what about the results? Specifically, Muscle Juice 2544.

Thats for anybody, so i dont have to scroll through 85 pages, what weight gainer would everyone reccommend for best results of just flat out gaining weight off of?

(I have been on muscle juice 2544, didnt gain much, im a REAL hard gainer, however i think my metabolism is finally slowing and am considering trying it again)

I had history with Cytogainers and Optimum Nutrition Whey, both were too clean for me which is why i switched to MJ2544 (Yes i am away ON Whey is not weight gainer)

Cytosport Cytogainer!
The best of the best!
I'm a hard gainer all my life, working more than my friends, but never seen the result like they do. Keep eating big, but still no result.
I've took both GNC Weight Gainer 1850, 2200 and Mass xxx, but the result are poor.
It taste so bad too.
After taking Cytogainer just for 2 weeks, my weight jumped from 64.5kg to 68.2kg.
But of course, u can't depend on supplement without the weight and lean food also.
Taste so great(chocolate mint), easy to mix.
It has 3g of creatine too..;)

My mate swears by CytoGainer Chocolate Malt flavour.

He loves the taste in water and milk and has put on over 10kgs (10kgs = 22lbs) of lean mass in the past 3 or 4 months since he started.

He was very skinny before he started and has really filled out nicely since he started eating every 2 hours and taking CytoGainer.

Food is obviously the most important part, but he does take CG at least twice a day too to help keep his calories and protein up.

I didn't find a great gain with the Muscle Juice, the most effective gain I had was when I used MHP up your mass, N-large 2 and BSN true mass (can get expensive stacking 3 weight gainers lol)

I would take mhp one day then bsn before bed than switch to N-large and bsn the next day and did that for probably 1.5 months and gained 10 pounds from 170 to 180 plus working out 5 days a week and eating on average every 2 to 3 hours.

Has anyone tried the new Applied Nutrition Critical Mass 4.4kg, it's basically Interactive Mammoth 2500 4.4kg Weight Gainer but a new improved version with way better ingredients.

Nutritional Information per 235gm serving (dry powder);
Energy 920Kcal
3846Kj
Protein 52gm
Carbohydrate 155gm
Fat 11gm
Ingredients;
Protein blend (Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Egg Albumin, Calcium Caseinate), Carb Blend (Maltodextrin, Fructose, Waxy Maize Starch Fractionated, Inulin), Fat Blend(MCT, Flax Oil Powder, CLA, Soy Lecithin), L-Glutamine, Tricalcium Phosphate, Natural & Artificial Flavours, Bromelain.

I've just started to use this and seen good results, I have previously used USN Mass and STS as well as mammoth. I saw good results with mammoth and managed to put on around 3 stones of lean muscle mass in around 5 months or so.

Out of the few that I have tried, I like BSN TrueMass for results. It tastes good and seems to work well. Only problem is mixability. I see that a lot of people say that it mixes well but that has not been my experience. I gets really clumpy. I have found that if you leave it long enough it eventually mixes itself but if you want it on the spot it is going to be clumpy.

On a note for all of you people who get upset if you don't gain 14 lbs in 2 weeks, it isn't the powder. Bodies can't put on more than like 6 lbs of muscle a month. And that is with optimum conditions.

But Mass Gainers do help

I found the BSN mixed well, maybe it is the way you are mixing it that is causing the problem. I always use a shaker cup, either the bodybuilding.com one or my other one with the wisk ball that mixes really good.

I always put the milk first than the powder and shake away. You have to get a shaker with some kind of agitator inside like the wisk ball it helps a lot. Don't ever try to mix with a spoon lol bad plan.

Yeah I guess that was my problem. Just put the milk, then the powder, then stirred with a spoon. Definitely still a good product, clumpy or not.

just gonna toss in my .02, carbs are dirt cheap, so that really plays a factor when considering the price difference. personally, i'd rather put in some oats or something other than the malto that most cheaper gainers have

I use Optimum Serious mass and I mix it with Optimum 100% Whey to get the prtoein content up. I pre-mix a days worth with whole milk. I take it 5 times a day and with the milk it comes out to around 400 Cals a serving.

Powder costs me around $80 a month

If I were to use MHP Up your mass - and take 5 servings a day (400 cals) with whole milk, I would go through 5 tubs a month

powder would cost $160 a month

Question I have is Up your mass worth the 100% price diff?

I had earlier given feedback about real gains( didnt read your post properly). Anyways Great Gains is a great product too, especially for those who are hard gainers or don't take enough carbs throughout the day.
You should consider taking Real Gains, since it is more balanced than Great Gains. (If you are serious about Gains).

You should take one serving in divided doses throughout the day, since it is highly potent. Good Luck with your goals!

I honestly think mass gainers are a waste of money.

I went through a tub of BSN True-Mass and Cytosport Cytogainer. Started the one right after the other ran out. Gained maybe 2 lbs on taking two shakes every day.

The only real benefit I can guess from having a mass gaining shake is it is a convenient way to take in a lot of calories.

Best thing to do IMO is the following:

4 tablespoons Wheat Germ
1 Cup Whole Oats
Scoop of Protein Powder (I use 100% Whey)
Throw in some fruit and/or yogurt
Add milk and blend.

You get around 500 calories and quite a bit of protein.

I am going to pick up a Weightgainer today, thinking either true mass, mutant mass, or maxx mass or w.e

Yeah Quickmass is definitely the way to go. I've tried cytogainer, true mass, mutant mass, moster milk, muscle juice, and monster maxx and none of them compared to the results I got. I was having about 1/3rd of the proper serving size for Quickmass (it was my first supplement and I didnt read the directions), yet i still put on 12 lbs in about 2 months. My BMI went down a bit too (but i forget how much). And with all the best ingredients in weight gainers that some dont have ( 3g of creatine and glutamine per serving), while having a fairly low sugar content, this is clearly a high quality product. It is inexpensive, yet isn't jloaded up with dextrose/maltodextrin as the main carb source. A decent source of quality, complex carbs are provided. And finally, it doesn't have low quality protein such as soy protein, which can siginificantly hinder your ability to gain muscle mass due to its testosterone-reducing effects. There is caseinate protein which is slow-releasing to give a steady does of protein throught your day, as well as whey protein which is extremely beneficial within the first half-hour post workout. Great poduct, I daresay!

the one with the most amount of calories in a serving

Except the serving size can vary. What's the point if they market it as 1800 calories per serving but you need 3 huge rounded scoops (450 grams) instead of 1 (150 grams)?

The best weight gainer in my opinion is Amplified Mass XXX by GNC. From the previous Mass XXX this one has improved on a lot of things, some of them being added creatine or better taste. Amplified Mass XXX has a weird effect on me, such as that I never get tired. By this I mean that I would fail on my set that I am doing, wait for a couple of minutes and be good to go full strength for the next set. It might be the added creatine to the shakes, but whatever it is, it gets the job done.

The best flavor that I recommend would be Strawberry, if you dont like strawberry, try banana then. If you are trying to gain weight, you should definetily try Amplified Mass XXX made by GNC, because I have tried various types of proteins, including CytoSport weight gainers, but none of them came even close to this one.

Here's my mass gaining shake:

1 cup Low Fat Yogurt
1.5 cup Milk
Dymatize Whey
1 cup Oats
Ice

54g Protein
82g Carbs
9g Fat
510 kcal

All all store bought (minus the powder). WAY cheaper than any mass gainer powder out there.

Here's my mass gaining shake:

1 cup Low Fat Yogurt
1.5 cup Milk
Dymatize Whey
1 cup Oats
Ice

54g Protein x4=216
82g Carbs x4=328
9g Fat x9=81
510 kcal [approx. real amount of cals]=625

All all store bought (minus the powder). WAY cheaper than any mass gainer powder out there.
That is an impossible nutritional value you have there...

Anyway, my shake that I drink everyday goes like this:

0.5 a cup of oats
1 banana
2 scoops of Syntha 6 (delicious, especially the chocolate peanut butter flavor)
1 cup of FF milk
[I freeze it for about 2 hours than stir it together to form a thick creamy liquid that I eat with a spoon. Taste pretty much like ice cream.]

58g of protein
94g of carbs
15g of fat
750 calories

Yeah, based on the formula ... Real Gains seems like a much better product compared to Great Gains. I just recently started taking Gainmax by SportPharma. We'll see how it goes but, so far it's been good.

GainMax by SportPharma is owned by Universal, and we expect almost equivalent results from both of them. although preparations are a bit different.

GAIN Max gets great feedback here. It's a solid, fast/slow release blend of pro/cho. How is it working for you guys?

The best way to gain lean, long lasting musscle mass is Protein. We all know the basic building blocks for animal tissue is protein, a complete protein. You can't beat 98% absorbtion, and that's what you get with hydrolyzed liquid collagen protein. 1 fluid ounce has 15 grams of protein and only 60 kcal! Even the best whey isolates fail to come close to that. If you break down price per absorbed gram you would be saving money at a dollar an oz. That's exactly what the best stuff costs.

Surgical hospitals use this stuff to heal wounds. Assisted living centers rely on it to keep 100 year old men from turning to dust. It makes you heal tissue like wolverine and grow musscle like Bruce Banner has just been kicked in the junk! It's the real deal and the wave of the future. It's poised to overtake all those powders in the industry today. It simply is the best way to supplement a bodybuilders protein needs.

So train insane and put the right stuff back in and you'll get big.

The premium brand is Provide Nutriton. Regular w/sugar or Sugar Free. About 30 bucks for a 30fl oz bottle.

If you look at the nutritional facts for the best products, all for a serving size of 100g, it is much easier to select the right one for you (as long as taste and price isnt an issue).

here are the main nutritional facts for the 5 gainers I considered:

Real Gains l cyto gainer l true mass l complex gainer l serious mass

calories 393.5 l 380 l 434.4 l 393 l 374.25
cal from fat 34 l 40 l 96.5 l 42.42 l 11.976
fat 3.8 l 4 l 11 l 4.84 l 1.347
sat fat 1.9 l 2.3 l 3.4 l 2.47 l 0.449
carbs 56.1 l 50 l 52.4 l 51.5 l 75.449
sugars 3.2 l 4.67 l 9.65 l 3.65 l 5.98
protein 33.5 l 36 l 31.7 l 36.36 l 14.97

These figures are based on a serving of 100g, (figures calculated using nutritional information from the bodybuilding.com store)

based on this, I am considering either universal's real gains or optimum's complex gainer. serious mass and complex gainer went straight out of the running, and i figured the difference in fat between real gains and cyto gainer outweighed :) the difference in protein. ( especially since I am looking for a weight gainer to use in conjunction with optimum gold standard whey)

Any thoughts?

I tried mutant mass a while back, weight gain was ok. But about 2 weeks into taking it i started getting really bad stomache aches. I went to the docs and it was some sort of gastro inflamation due to the callories and oils in it. Took about 2 months before the random stomache aches went away. I might have just been sensetive to it though. Best weight gainer without creatine i've used is atlas super weight gainer. its 1200 cals and 80 grams of protien. No crappy cheap carbs or sugar either, probably why it tastes so bad. I gagged sometimes from drinking it, but i prefere to feel sick while drinking something and get results than enjoy the taste and get little or no results.

By far, ON's Pro Complex Gainer, Double Chocolate. 650 cals, 8g fat, 85g carbs, and 60g protein, plus it tastes great compared to a lot of gainers. I take this for extra calories and to aid in recovery post-workout. ON's quality and low prices make it well worth it.

Iso Mass Xtreme gainer, I gained 11 pounds in 10 days

were talking about gaining muscle.. not fat. lets be real, you know you didnt gain 11 lbs in 10 days unless you used this in conjunction with some crazy AAS cycle.

fwiw.. i use cytosport cytogainer.. its by far the best tasting shake with the best mixability and if used at half servings, it'll last a lot longer and still give you ~28g of protein and ~420 calories with milk (16oz).

my vote goes for Cytogainer. i've also tried nLarge2, ON pro complex gainer, isogainer, and a few others i cant remember.. and i always come back to cytogainer.

im not too sure about that, i tried it out since my brother bought the HUGE ASS bag of it.. and the mixability wasnt really that great, the price was pretty high, and the taste (vanilla custard) was alright at best.

if it works for you, go for it.. but i also looked up reviews since i had never heard of it and people are also complaining about the mixability. its not really bad, but you get little chunks in your throat. i use the GNC shaker cup with the metal ball inside it.. and it mixes everything else very nicely so its not my method of mixing

Doesn't Up Your Mass have 510 calories per serving? If it had 802 I'd buy it in a second...considering one serving is only 132g...it's really the concentration of these weight gainers that matters. I mean, Vital Russian Bear 5000 has 2600 calories per serving but each serving is 635g (4.1cals/gram). I was bored so I decided to calculate the caloric concentration for every weight gainer on this website:
h-t-t-p://w-w-w.bodybuilding.com/store/gaintop.htm

The two highest concentrations I found were in these two:

Champion Super Heavyweight Gainer (4.5cals/gram)
Xtreme Mass (4.49cals/gram)

After that there was a dropoff to about 4cals/gram (most hovered around that area). If anyone can find anything that has 5+cals/gram let me know.

Weight gainer's typically have a high volume of protein in it alone with carbs and calories. Personally myself I stack with the BSN product line and consume the True-Mass lean gainer AND ON 100% Whey (I use the ON Whey in place of the Syntha-6).

For the basics if your looking to use a gainer and want to put on healthy mass, Just watch your caloric intake along with your protein and carb ratio. I like True-Mass because the sugar level is fairly decent and the calories from a serving is perfect for maintaining a balance between your actual foods and the shake. Still got to eat if your looking to get big. If you are consuming more protein than you are carbs in a shake, then make sure in your meals you eat a good source of carbs to balance it out. Do the same if it's the other way around; if your gainer has more carbs then eat something in your meals that has more protein. So yes your alright to take the whey in addition to your gainer, just watch the protein and the carbs and make a good balance for yourself.

MHP Up Your mass worked pretty good for me and it tasted AWSOME! I just switch to Champion nuntrition though

Dude Up your mass from MHP tastes Awesome..in vanilla that is. Most people on here say everything taste's great (Cytogainer...tastes like crap, serious mass....it tastes okay, ON Pro Complex...good product and it doesn't taste bad). But if you want to taste perfection everytime you down a protein drink, then MHP Up your mass is the bomb. No lie it tastes like something out of dairy queen just with milk added and it even tastes good with water. I didn't gain a whole lot of weight off of it and I know that's what you guys are looking for, okay so maybe you don't care about taste, if you're man enough to down eggs you can drink anything...I'd go the ON Serious Mass route, it's cheap and it's got too much power to boot as well. With two scoops in milk you can get 1630 calories and if you add some ice cream and peanut butter....you can get over 2000 calories just from 2 scoops, 50 g protein, 250+ grams of carbs....get the 12 lbs bag..for 38.99.....competition...zero...weight gain....astronomical. I don't know about you guys but I want the quickest gains possible, if you want to be monster I mean an absolute monster where women stare at you like a Greek God, use serious mass...I always get compliments from chicks at the gym who say i look bigger than ever!!

If you had to pick just ONE weight gainer (protein powder), what would be the best one?

Please pick product and include the brand. Give your reasons. The best answers will be displayed on the main Bodybuilding.com site for millions of people to see!

(Note: This is not a discussion about how or when to take weight gainers, if you should take weight gainers, or why some weight gainers are NOT good. Just list your absolute favorite weight gainer and give your detailed reason.)

Mass-Tech from MuscleTech is most definitely the best all around mass gainer on the market that I have encountered thus far. Its high potency formula of complete protein, creatine matrix, and slow digesting, complex carbs, makes it among the wisest of choices when looking to add lean mass without too much excess body fat. It mixes excellently with milk and takes only a shaker bottle for it to mix. Mass-Tech goes down smooth, tastes great, and provides its users with quick and explosive gains in both size and strength.

I see, CytoSport's Cyto Gainer is the top seller (their Muscle Milk is popular too but I think that's used for something else?). I guess we can deduce that since most people use CytoGainer, that means more people will recommend it? I would also like to hear from people who have used Muscle Juice (cheapest per calorie) , ON Pro Gainer and Serious Mass, and Super Gainers Fuel (highest serving of calories/protein/carbs/fat),

Cyto Gainer may be the most popular, but is definitely not the best. It causes a huge retention in water weight that makes the user look bloated, not muscular. Not to mention this water weight is essentially "false" weight and is removed (urinated out) with in a few days of discontinuing the product.

I have the same question!

I don't know the "right" time to take it, but I've been taking mine as a meal replacement. Usually post workout and it's been working well for me so far.

Also, how come they're so expensive? I was looking into buying either Muscle Juice or ON Pro Complex Gainer, but then I realized that the first has 19 servings and the latter 14 servings, and this is for $40.00.

Im sure has asked this before, can someone explain?

The reason they're expensive is because it's a full meal with the proper ratio needed for gaining weight. You generally want a ratio of carb/protein/fat to be something along the lines of 50/30/20 or 40/35/25.

If you used your example of using whole milk and ice cream you would indeed meet your calorie needs, but your ratio would be off because your fat intake would be greater than your carbs and to make it worse a lot of this fat would be saturated fat and your carb intake would be composed of primarily sugar.

And for price it's not really that bad. I'll use ON 100% whey and Pro Complex gainer for this example since is was one you were interested in.

2 scoops whey + 3 cups whole milk(at $3 a gallon) = 690 calories @ $1.71 a serving
1 serving Pro Complex = 650 calories @ $2.42 a serving.

Currently I'm using Universal's Real Gains which comes to 600 calories @ $1.714 a serving.

When you factor in a better carb/protein/fat ratio and convenience I'd say it's worth it.

After all this I'd still recommend making your own when you can though lol. Just use whey, milk, fruit, natural peanutbutter, and oats. You'll get the same range of calories for even less than any of the options I've said and it's MUCH healthier(and taste great). I only started using a gainer because of convenience and I hate using and cleaning my blender everyday lol.

Just finished a month's tub of Nature's Best Mass, taste was good 7/10, mixabilty 10/10. Not quite sure how much lean muscle mass I gained, but I dropped maybe 3% in body fat and at the month's end. I'm back where I started, so I'm guessing 2-3lbs in a month.

Overall good for lactose intolerants.

My favorite gainer is quickmass by far. I've used a few different types like muscle juice, cyotogainer, and mutant mass but none of them helped me like quickmass. Its solid product that mixes well and taste great too.

Cyto Gainer may be the most popular, but is definitely not the best. It causes a huge retention in water weight that makes the user look bloated, not muscular. Not to mention this water weight is essentially "false" weight and is removed (urinated out) with in a few days of discontinuing the product.
Word, I was on CytoGainer for the 6lb tub over summer. Deff got good muscle gains from it, but also added lot of water weight. I stopped using it and lost 6lbs after a month. But while on it, I gained 6lbs...
Getting a 10lb tub of Iso Mass this week to compare.

Cytogainer WORKS. Just not well haha. I gained plenty of weight from it. Mostly good, but some bad. It did work, but like others have said, you become bloated from it. My face looked like the face of a person who was supposed to be 250 lbs.

I'm finishing my tub of CytoGainer, and honestly, the bloating and water retention isn't worth it. I can obviously tell that I've gained weight, but I don't even know if this is legit weight, quoted from my girlfriend after finishing a shake. "You look fxcking pregnant" and I'm a slim kid.

Hey there Sir...
I like Serious Mass best. I've used Muscle Juice and it works just as well but it's much sweeter-has three times the sugar of Serious Mass. Serious Mass for me drinks well and the weight comes on...gotta give it some time though...if you have trouble gaining, you can drink a serving and then take a nap, and drink another serving before bed and wake up in the middle of the night drink another serving go back to bed...drink a serving first thing in the morning, and a serving before and or after weights...eat at least three whole food meals...Jesus Christ is Lord!

Have you seen the new one?

The best weight gainer is good old fashion food! add another meal to your already clean diet. 5 more ounces of chicken breast and a few more cups of brown rice. I would try this first versus the gainers. Most gainers increase your BF so byt he time you diet back down and cut the fat your net gain is still not what you expect. Try adding another meal. Good luck.

I've been on Cyto Gainer ever since I started lifting, and while it put on 30 lbs in a year, I have plateaued at 195 and can't seem to put on any more pounds, and it has been 6 months! Any suggestions?

Try and take in another 3-400 calories a day. About 70% of which should be from protein 20 from carbs etc. Guys that have trained in past who've hit plateu's before simply up the calorie intake. Also what is your bodyfat % and if it's low attempt a bulking phase but for the first 3 weeks of your bulk phase doing your basic gym routine and not adding too much to the weight sets and reps. More weight and more reps fires up metabolism boosters slot better then most long cardio workouts do so it'd be pointless to bring in more calories and increasing your workload right away. Packing on muscle is like anything else, it's hard to get it fired up but once you do, you will be well on your way.

Also consider IsoMass Xtreme Gainer. With 65g of protein and 650 calories per serving you can't go wrong. It is a bit pricy but if you've got the money don't be afraid to try it. It adds an additional 1950 calories to your daily intake. There really is some truth to the statement you get what you pay for. Another decent gainer ones from Optimum called Pro Gainer again another good but pricy choice.

I started working out off and on about 5 years ago and started out with GNC brand protein and creatine. The protein didn't taste that good and the creatine just made me bloated. Then someone turned me on to ON's Gold Standard and have been using it for about 3 years. That stuff is awsome, it taste great and works alot better than GNC products.I don't bloat with and I keep a pretty hard and lean body with it. I've aslo started taking ON's Casein and their Recovery 2:1:1 and I have seen even better results with them. They both taste and work great.

My straight answer: Mix the following and make sure you use exact gram amounts:
? 266 g Prolab N-Large2 (apprx 7 scoops)
? 35 g Higher Power Casein Power (apprx 1 scoop)
? 9 g Total Body Research Colostrum
? 80 g Garden of Life Super Seed
That makes for a total of 390 g of the best MRP or Weight Gainer. Using 92 g of this provides you with approximately 28 g protein, 35 g carbs, 5.5 g fiber, and it?s also a good source of vitamins, minerals and omega-3 oils. Personally, one dose of this keeps me full for at least 4 hours, so it?s also good for when you want to lose weight, because you don?t eat so much. I should also mention that is costs $3.85 per serving if you buy from BodyBuilding.com.

Elaboration (for those who like to spend time reading):

So, for a long time I?ve been experimenting with different formulas in order to find the right combination of protein to carb ratio (P/C) and fiber while having a good taste.

Why the concern fot a P/C ratio? The right P/C is 0.77 to 0.8 or 3 parts of protein for 4 parts of carbs. When I say ?right?, I mean a P/C ratio that will have the optimum effect on your hormonal system right after eating, thus putting you in the most anabolic and illness-resistant state possible. This is well documented by a doctor called Barry Sears; his 15 years of research has helped people fight obesity, diabetes, chronic pain and inflammation and other various conditions. The Zone Diet he developed even helped me focus better for my studies, sleep better and be less stressed. Dr Sears has a series of supplements including an MRP with the same composition as the one I developed. The difference? The one I showed you here is 1.5 times cheaper while still having the same effect.

Why Prolab N-Large? Because it?s a good base protein to start with. Its P/C ratio is close enough to what I desire, so it needs little supplementation, and it?s loaded with vitamins and minerals.
Why HP Casein? Because Casein digests slower, thus keeping you fuller for a longer time. And you got your portion of whey from Prolab anyway. The other reason is because HP is much cheaper than any other; why pay more for the same product? Because it has fancier labels and is better promoted? You don?t want to pay someone else?s marketing campaign, do you?

Why Colostrum? Because it adds to the P/C ratio, and it gives better taste to the whole formula. Some may believe that it is also effective at boosting anabolism, but that doesn?t interest me; for one thing, it?s definitely not bad (I haven?t seen anyone saying colostrums is bad).

Why GL Super Seed? Because it?s the only fiber product that:
? Mixes well with the rest powders and in the liquid after.
? Has various fiber sources including Chia (Very Good)
? It has both soluble and insoluble fiber
? Contains omega-3 oils
? It?s the cheapest of its kind

ON's Natural oats and whey, blended with whole milk. Or skim milk and some flaxseed oil...Throw in a banana for another 100 cals. Yummy.

Or just blend up some whole food... If I can't down the rest of a peanut butter sandwitch, I blend it up with some milk and drink her down, theh, bub. Or blend up some sweet potato, oats and milk.... mix 'er up! Down some cals, deah, and it's always easier when it's in liquid form.

As far as blending whole foods goes, I guess that's an individual thing. I find a lot of things much more difficult to stomach when liquified.

I have been on my winter mass building phase and decided to give BSN True Mass a go, having tried a few of the popular gainers in recent years, I found most of them to be very hard on my stomach, makes me gassy and they sit in my stomach for hours, makes it hard to eat my regular meals.

got a tub of Ture Mass strawberry and from the first shake on, I was in love, it's doesn't have a sweet tastes which makes the drink feel very light, it tastes like strawberry icecream to me, 600 calories per serve is pretty much standard, so for me, the taste and consistency won me over...

I've been a hardgainer all my life and experience massive swings in my weight depending upon my diet, training regimen and supplements. So a weight gainer has always been of the utmost importance to me.

I've used the following weight gainers throughout my training history. These are listed in decreasing value/efficiency in my opinion/experience:

Cytosport Cytogainer
Ultimate Nutrition Muscle Juice
MHP Up your Mass
Champion Heavyweight Gainer 900
******** Tech X Mass (Vitamin Shoppe brand)
Six Star Muscle Gainer
Prolab N-large
Optimum Serious Mass

The criteria I've used to judge this have been 1) results (obviously), 2) taste, and 3) filling (how full the shake leaves me). I really don't care much about price because I don't think the prices differences are that significant between weight gainers, and they all get expensive. The best results I've ever tried have always been with Cytogainer, for me it's my tried and true. It has one of the best tastes (I drink it with whole milk) and leaves me empty enough to continue eating. My second place is muscle juice, whose taste I find to be slightly less pleasing than cytogainer but still a very good shake overall. The rest fall in varying degrees of satisfaction which I'd be happy to discuss with anyone if they have any specific questions.

Now to address the last two which I know have received high ranks from many individuals. Prolab simply made my stomach very very sick which obviously doesn't go well with trying to put on weight.

Now, I know Serious Mass is loved by many, but my issue is the serving size. It says two scoops but I believe this to be very misleading since the scooper is not the conventional scooper but instead more of a shovel/trowel. Even cutting it down to half a serving left me very very full all the time. Now I use my weight gainers as a subsidy to my eating, not as a meal replacement. I think for the slight additional caloric value Serious Mass is not worth the filling level of the shake.

I am currently on Universal Real Gains but have not progressed far enough along to give my opinion yet but so far I've really enjoyed the taste and have had no digestive issues.

I've tried a few different ones... but my favorites:

Weight Gainer: GNC's 2200 Gold (I break it into 3 shakes per day with 16oz of whole milk or orange juice)
Protein Powder: Monster Milk (50g of protein and 350 cals a serving! it is by far the worst tasting crap ever, but by far the best protein supplement I've ever used)

My brother swears by MegaMass 4000 as weight gainer, and his own, home made protein shake (whole milk, whole eggs, a lil sugar, & sometimes throws in some peanut butter)

He's 6' 3" or 4" about 195... 6-8% body fat (he has an 8 pack, the lil bastard!) and is benching over 300lbs! He was about 150, maybe 155lbs when he started.

I would like to try some ON products for gainer and protein supps, but I've got some of the other left from a big sale GNC had at Christmas, lol

Under 500 calories!!?
I`m not convinced the body would take up IGF1 from the diet - Colustrum might benefit L.G.SYN?? I believe that there is all the glutamine that the body could possibly benefit from in a whole protein source - Soya 10.8gms per 100, for instance. Ingest a lot of protein and you`ll get a lot of glutamine. I`ve experienced psychic abnormalities through over ingestion. There is no proof that CLA WILL AID IN FAT LOSS what-so-ever, and do you want a product that contains protein from cows blood, and is full of fillers? I`d much prefer Myoplex Deluxe to that one - Try adding ground almonds to it, and mixing with soya milk - the strawberry flavour (real stawberries), and then tell me that you`ve ever tasted anything better.

RealMass by gaspari mixes easily without a blender ive gone threw a couple tubs and gained some weight, but musclejuice is great if you have a blender i throw in the full serving with some milk, and add some oats, bananas, eggs or peanutbutter depending on the day and im looking at 1500 plus calories in my shakes

I would like to try some ON products for gainer and protein supps, but I've got some of the other left from a big sale GNC had at Christmas, lol
your bro is a smart man

Hi,

Im just starting to get back into some training and looking to BULK up as I am quite on the thin side, I have gained 10kg (22lbs) in the past working out using Musashi Bulk (A few years ago). By the looks of it "Real Gains" is the stuff to use now?

Is it this stuff?

Real Gains (Universal Nutrition) 3.18Kg?

I am looking to work out 4 times per week and want to consume as close to 4000+ calories per day to gain some weight. Mixing with Light Milk and maybe the odd banana thrown in.

Is real gains for me?

Thanks

How does your diet and training look? Make sure if you're getting enough calories from quality whole foods first. If you find that you're then still not gaining weight steadily, you may want to look into adding a weight gainer with balanced carbs and protein. Just make sure it's not sugar-laden. The great thing about gainers is that they digest well and don't kill your appetite--Great for hardgainers who have trouble eating enough quality calories.

Adding 3000 calories a day all at once seems a bit overkill. I might try stepping it up gradually.

Maybe you are training too much?

5 days is a lot and not much time for your muscles to recover.

I have read a lot of posts on Cytosport's cytogainer, and I do think it is one of the best overall. If you are looking for the most calories per serving, which is what will make you gain the weight, look into Optimum Nutrition's Serious Mass or Champion Nutrition's Superheavy weight gainer. All three are great products and I have heard great things from all three.

Would my local GNC sell it before I trekked down there? If not what is the best weight gainer from GNC?

Guess it would help to post some info

I was 145 and I started creatine. Two weeks later I was 155, for the last week and a bit I have not put on anymore weight. I am trying to eat more, but I am getting sick of peanut butter and oatmeal lol I am definitely less than 10% body fat. I am seeing strength gains but not size like I would like. I want to get up to a lean and ripped 165-170.

Cytogainer is designed for lactose intolerant people and I was told by the fellow at sports nutrtion depot that people make minimal gains off it. To be used only if your lactose intolerant in his opinion.

I have tried ISO MASS in the past and felt it was quite good, however it does contain alot of creatine in it which is upto you if you want that.

I'm a dealer hunter and if you can order from BB.com- there prices come out better. If you must go in person I'd recommend checking out Sports Nutrition Depot or even Pur Nutrition if your in Ontario and chances are they have better prices or will beat GNC's for you. I've found the people at SND to be more truthful and helpful.

easy to beat, it has 140mg of cholesterol pr serving thats way to high 50g of proteins pr serving is standar carbs are 75 pr serving lower then standard..

combine standar protein serving, lower carbs and way to high cholesterol makes it not so good.
im impressed why people wote it so high when is a health risk in the long run if u take 2 servings a day as minimum as most people do...

water weight? lactose intolerance? R U KIDDING?! U GUYS R GOING NOWHERE FAST!
a weight gainer isn't going to make you big. it's eating enough calories to grow that will, and a weight gainer is just a PART of the DIET. don't look at weight gain over a few months...look at it over years...look at the reigning worlds strongest man Zydrunas Savickas...in 2004 he was 330 now he's 380 that's 50lbs in 6 years...stop reading FLEX you're not going to be 285lbs. of muscle drug free if you're under 6'3" at least; CALORIES OVER YEARS and weight gainers are just a supplement to the DIET...

So I decided to contribute to the knowledge base by compiling a list of the popular gainers and calculate their calories per $$$. I did this for myself because I want to buy a gainer and just wanted to compare their prices easily. For each gainer I used the largest quantity you could buy, all through bodybuilding.com

In order of best value (calories per $):

UN Muscle Juice 2544 670.82
Muscle Asylum Mass Impact (buy 1 get 1) 583.07
PVL Mutant Mass 517.88
ON Serious Mass 512.95
Dymatize Mega Gainer 474.83
MGN Muscle Mass 464.73
Prolab N-Large II 360.07
Universal Real Gains 354.84
SportPharma Gain Max 347.85
ISS Gainer Matrix 328.65
ON Pro Complex Gainer 314.39
BSN True Mass 298.58
CytoSport CytoGainer 290.89
Gaspari Real Mass 286.23
CytoSport Monster Mass 283.71
UN Iso Mass 282.65

So there you have it. I guess just pick your price range, then look for what specific nutritional values and ingredients you want in your gainer.

If you want a comparable number to see where your favorite gainer fits in, the formula is (calories p/serving x number of servings) / (price).

Am I the only one that doesn't use it as a meal replacement but uses it with my meals? Instead of a soda or water, I usually just drink it with my meals as my beverage of choice. Mix it with milk, split it in half if you choose. UN MJ 2544, mixes very well in a shaker and goes down quick, is smooth and not very thick at all, basically chocolate milk.

No, it shouldn't taste that bad or be that hard to get/keep down. UN Muscle Juice 2544 taste great in the chocolate and is pretty smooth, a little thicker than chocolate milk, and mixes quite well. 16 oz. of milk or water and you got roughly 900-1200 cals.

That's the way to do it if you need more mass. Lot's of guys use it in place of a meal and then wonder why they're not gaining. If you're not gaining, you're not eating enough. I know it's hard, I'm around 335-340lbs. and the more I gain, the harder it is to gain. Give it time...it takes years to be the best in the world. DRUG FREE POWER
