Count Basie

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage ....
Ok, so it was only a dream. William "Count" Basie I am not. Though if I could go back in time, I would love to have been on the scene ....
But since that's not gonna happen ...
Let me introduce myself ... I'm a 40 year old professional, recovering addict who has decided that his major and main underlying addiction is food. It's one of the reasons, if not the main reason, that I've spent most of my life being on the heavy side (never obese, just with pot belly of varying size). It's one of the reasons I have never been able to look like I've wanted to. And, most importantly, it's one of the reasons why I will die before my time.
So -- changing the tone of this post -- I'm putting my life back on track. I'm learning about my issues with food and learning how to manage them in the right way. As part of this, I'm getting back to the gym. Actually, I started getting back to the gym a few months ago but then got waylaid by a series of colds that went through the house and a recurring back spasm. But, I'm getting back to gym, working on my diet and trying to be heathier.
One of the keys to recovery in an addiction is brutal honesty. I intend to use BodyBuilding.com as my vehicle to keep my honest. I intend to post frequently to my blog to keep me honest (we call it telling on ourselves). I'm going to post here on my training and food regimen.
Please give feedback. I would love to establish an online support network that would help me on my journey. I've looked into other support groups (like Food Addicts Anonymous and the like) and they're just not good fits. The focus is different and the goals are different. My goals are more in line with goals of people like you. It's just that my path to getting there is (or may be) different.
In the end, I'm going to be healthier; healthier still with your help.
Thanks. I look forward to making new friends.
Bill
