I loved World's gym in Feasterville PA. I trained there once in awhile as well when living in PA in the early 90's. It was a bit more old school at least back then and not so Foo Fooey as the gyms today that cater to EVERYONE including the dorks that read the Wall Street Journal on the end of a Bench Press between their set of 4 with 135.

This really does NOT belong in this thread but I want to post it. PLease read it and don't respond to it or this thread can go too far off topic. It just relates to my last post.

One prerequisite MY gym If I owned one would be: You may not wear black dress socks with sneakers in my gym. You may not bring a Cell phone onto the training floor or newspaper. And lastly, if you aint sweaten in 10 minutes, please move to the beginners section located on the far side of the gym.

Seriously, I'm not saying my gym rules over any one elses in fact it's not perfect. We don't have my suggested beginners section of men although, they do have a very Ladies Gold's which is nicely equipped and exclusively for women. And you will notice that the majority of woman that use the Main Gym are the ones "in the know" The ones you wouldn't mind working in with you. If having a seperate section for the "foo foo" chicks works then why not have something similar for the dorkey, nerdy guys???

My home gym is 24 Hour Fitness Meridian, South of Denver. However since I travel for a living I get to workout at 2-3 different gyms each week. I sure get to see the best and the worst. I have a few favorites I've found over the years that I seem to go back to everytime I'm in a particular town.

24 Hour Fitness, various locations in So Cal. People bag on this chain all the time, but I think it's great. I joined in 95 and paid 15 ('95-01) then 30 bones a month; from just about any point between LA and San Diego there are at least 5 different clubs within a half hours drive, great when you need a change of pace (which you do from time to time) or when you're just off your beaten path for whatever reason. None of the clubs are 'bad' and some of them are amazing.....huge, arena-sized facilities with plenty of everything including elbow room and natural light.

It thought it was brilliant marketing when the went from Family Fitness to 24 Hr Fitness. They realized they'd save money by just staying open 24 hours a day and having just one desk person and the cleaning crews work over night versus having the staff do opening/closing procedures, hiring security guards and alarm systems and all that. Cheaper just to stay open. Plus there have been those times when it's late but you're not really tired and it's great that you can just roll in there any old time and do whatever you want.

They have good equipment and maintain it well, my main complaint is they dont enforce their own rules - dropping ****, not reracking, gym bags and crap all over, not wiping sweat off the machines.

Because of my job, I workout near whatever hotel I stay at when I travel.

For the past 3 months I have been at the Gold's Gym in Lathem, NY

When I'm home I work out on Maguire AFB, NJ. They have a great gym with top noch equipment comparable to Gold's or world gym...

Classic Gym

A stuffy little place with a bunch of clueless clowns running around benching.

The place has a big picture of Arnold wearing a World Gym t-shirt with "Classic" mspainted over the word "World" so that you can still see, if you look closely, the word "World" in the background. I LMFAO when i saw it.

Still, its the only place in town with a squat rack, and i love it :D
