Hey guys, this is my time posting here since its the first time i am going to compete, its in 8 weeks and it is a natural show and i think ill be going to the teen division, the competition its the musclemania world championship (or something like that) and its in the universal studios so i think its going to be organized, a promoter of the show its the one that invited me so i think i have a good chance to place well.

The problem its i dont have any experience with contest preparation, i think i look good most of the time so i am scared of trying to cut or something and losing my fullness, since i am naturally lean i plan to add 2-3 more pounds in the next 4 weeks with a very basic thing that i am doing eating chicken breast and rice every 2 1/2 hours. ( plus my supps ) . But i am not sure what to do the last 4 weeks, any help would be appriciated :P.

If you havent seen pictures of me here you go, all of this pictures are recent.

wich me luck :D

David, congratulations on deciding to take the plunge into competition. You certainly have the physique for it; if you prepare properly you should do quite well.

As a suggestion, you ought to consider Shane Giese's series of articles on his preparation for the 2004 INBF Wisconsin Naturals, where he won the Teens and the Men's Lightweight class. I was there, and IMHO, Shane's conditioning was probably second best only to the overall winner, who was older and more experienced.

Go through the articles and see what you can learn. The series starts at http://teenbodybuilding.com/shane14.htm; the succeeding articles link from that page. Your physiology may be different, but the guiding principles should be the same.

I would recommend Shane's new training tape at http://www.feldmanbrothers.com/forsale.htm, but it's too late for that for this show. Still, you ought to get this for future reference.

Buena suerte!

Well if you are going to compete you will be drug tested and then once you past it you can shut up all the punks in the teen section.
Good Luck
Cant wait to see how you look.

you should enter the men's open division as well. If you get lean enough you will do quite well. Very impressive.

However good you think your genetics are, and no matter how good your genetics are, dont overestimate them.....by the way you sound, your not taking it seriously enough, you'll end up coming unstuck in the last few weeks and have to do something drastic to drop extra weight to get into good condition.

Start cardio now.....dont care how lean you are or think you are, start it now, you cant afford not to.

Dont have carbs with every meal, if you do that your body has a constant supply of carbs and will use that over fat for fuel.....if you restrict your carb intake during the day it will help you get leaner faster than having a small portion with each meal. Trust me.

Have the majority of your carb intake for the day with your breakfast....

thanks for the advice :D, but believe me i do take bodybuilding seriously, if i do things like that is not because i am cocky or anything like that i jus think thats how my body responds better, oh yeah i cut the carbs at 6pm :P, what do you guys recommend to drop the water

str8flexed
09-20-2006, 08:47 AM
why do you cut the carbs at 6? that's not really sound scientifically. there is nothing that happens after 6 pm that alters the law of thermodynamics.

DON'T DROP WATER

I agree with Layne about entering the open.

Lou typically runs high school, Juniors, Novice, and Open at his shows, including this world championship. Enter at least the Juniors and Novice.
But, based on past levels of competition at this show, I'd expect you to do quite well in the Open also.

You can go to the Musclemania website and browse the photogalleries to see the level of competition at past shows.

What? No... IMO, you need to start timing your supplemental carbs i.e. breakfast and around your workout and save the other times of day for protein, fats and fibrous carbs. Of course carb cycling is effective if you perform it right, on the other hand if you don't it can also hinder your plan. Here's a good link:

You look a lot like the dude at the bottom of the page, but I then saw you had different names.

IMO you look great and I think you will be better in 8 weeks when you are leaner.

Wish I looked like that at 19.

Good luck

You look kickass, and youll blow the teen divison away -

My advice - cough up the dough and pay Layne for doing your contest prep - if anyone can get you shredded its him.

Considering the toil of training for a competition, what layne charges is hardly a scratch for what youll get.

Great physique, tons of potential...good luck and listen to one experienced competitor, and one only.....too many opinions going into a big contest such as this will only confuse you.

i am 19 y/o, thx for the compliment :D

Hey guys how do you think its a good idea to pose slowly , i am thinking in slow posing i think it suits my body and i dont really like the dancing style for posing, i prefer something classic kind of shawn ray posing style.
Do you think its a good idea ?

I think you should do slow posing! It looks better and gives the judges a better view of every muscle.....

The evening posing to music is not usually judged in most federations, so your objective is to entertain the audience and catch the interest of the photographers in the evening. I'm reasonably sure that in the Musclemania judging format that is the case as well -- but it's worth checking with Lou to find out, or whoever you are in touch with in that organization.

The daytime 60 second inidividual routine, if done, is what matters for the judging. So...be sure to hold each pose long enough for the judges to evaluate (and appreciate!) what you have accomplished. Don't waste time with lengthy transitions -- they just need to be smooth and not reveal weaknesses, so they are NOT moments to let down and relax and take a dep breath! It looks silly, by the way, to just do your evening routine but without the music (there is no music for the routines during the judging), as the movements do not make any sense by themselves (usually).

It's best to have two routines: one for the evening to entertain; one for the judging to show the judges what YOU want them to notice.

Good question though...one that most competitors never ask and often don't understand.

yes pose slowly make sure you take the time to make sure that they can see every straition and they get the chance to really see what you acomplished with your training. impress them the way you have impressed so many on thos forum. just make sure you dont go so slow that you run out of time to really impress the judges. and like kentmaroon said, show off!

Doing great in my preparations had a little cold and a little accident while riding my bike these days (got hit by a car hahahaha ) but i am doing great right now nothing serious happened and i am training haaaard believe me. I know some say that i shouldnt train that hard approaching to a competition, but i am nowhere near a pro i cant worry about injuries right now.

Hey guys any tips on tanning would be appreciated i have no idea what to do with my tan.

I will upload some pics later i think i am looking good, some new details in my legs while keeping the size i am really happy :D

....and Davids back is very massive and awesome!

I know I have an obscure non-profile here! as a teen I played Tennis, got an injury, had to rehabilitate, went to gym, got interested, lifting weights heavier and heavier was fun, never competed, kept on untill 1986, but continued to pay member card untill 2001, mostly to support young bodybuilders. I envy you guys, nowdays you can take a pic, and 30 seconds later you put a pic on the net, and 2 minutes later you can get replies. Back when I was a teen it took 10 days to develop a photo, and you had to end a whole film-roll. and the gyms...they smelled awfull.

But back to David!
The First competition is always a good lesson, and you should stress your marvelous latspread!!! Slow Movements is classic so do them! Don't dry out!
and keep an eye on the judges while others compete, so you get an idea what body part they praise this time.

..David..
09-30-2006, 02:48 PM
If i dont dry out then what do you recommend ? just carb down and then carb up ?

Definitely use pro tan!!! It's the best. OPur it in a bottle, use the brush that comes with it...Have someone do your backside...Preferably a girl! LOL! The day of the show, You sould bring some Pam cooking spray and the left over Protan.... at the show backstage, spray the protan on, and brush into your skin...It looks great!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice and even, no blotching!!!

Thanks for the sidechest picture!!!
The arm looks marvelous, good balance between biceps and triceps, the chest on the other hand could use a few more pounds. Don't get me wrong your chest is great! but your awesome arms overshadows it!

the legs looks ready too!

took a few more looks at your back, no acne there, good sign, the V-shape is good (awesome actually), some guys only have the Y-shape on their latspread, but you have a V-shape.

"don't dry out" I wrote, because I've been around in the pumping rooms, and seen guys and girls faint, and had to be picked up by ambulance, and I know many first-timers are nervous. And it's for some reason stone cold in the rooms behind the scene.

About tanning, leave that part to pros, or it could become so very very wrong. Too many use parents "painting them" becomes too dark.

nothing I wrote above is meant to be negative!!!!
