drove out to the mountains (i live in alaska) with my gf and hiked the steepest trail around here. it's about a mile up and it's steep pretty much the whole way. i haven't done much cardio this summer, so i didn't know if i would do well or not. well, i get these second winds sometimes, so by the time i was at the tree line, i was practically jogging.

my gf stopped and picked berries while i went up a bit further. the leaves are all turning yellow and red, so it's a great time for hiking. i love getting up there and looking off the backside of the mountains and just seeing more mountains and the ocean. no civilization. i'd love to have a cabin with a view like that one day. i'll try to scan some pics when they get developed.

No bears:o?

haha, no bears. it isn't usually an area where you find anything larger than a bird. even if there was a bear around, i'm sure it got the hell out of their after hearing a hiker we past, singing "99 bottles of bear on the wall."

we DID see a moose though, which almost ended up on our hood. i hit the breaks, and my bowl oats which was on the dash, ended up splatting up against the windshield. oops.

That would be great to hike in a place like that. Don't forget to post some pics.
