Right, here is my say on this.

De Luca could probably afford to have a bodybuilding.com gym franchise WORLDWIDE!! Potentially as an investment it is a very very good idea

HOWEVER

By the naming a gym bodybuilding.com as sad as this sounds you are probably going to only really atract a minority group... Many people MIGHT be kinda of against/scared/nervous purely by the name of this gym..(e.g. thinking it is for hyooogge steroid abusers - A typical stereotype of bodybuilder)

If you could flash the stereotype of bodybuilding.com then yes this would work..BUT even with bodybuilding.com gym's they'd probably still take a load of money due to interest predeominately from men..however getting a female market is likely to be a difficult task.

I mean..what do you think people would be more attracted to PURELY by name:

Bodybuilding.com Gym

VS.
**Local area** e.g. Arizona Health and Fitness Suite
Greens Health Club
Temple Gym (Dorian Yates' gym)
etc..

You'd probably find the "Average" gym person/someone interested in getting fit would probably rather go to those if they looked in a local directory..than go to a OMG OMG HYOGE Bodybuilding.com Gym

As sad as it sounds...seriously you have to think about the MAJORITY of people....that would probably be fazed..simply by the name of a gym :(

Anyways hope that helped a little..i'm sure many would disagree but it's certainly a factor to consider

P.S. I'm not saying it wouldn't work..cause it obviously would I mean bodybuilding.com is a HUGE company making millions..and there would be no reason why opening worldwide gym's wouldn't either

BUT anyways..why suggest it! De Luca's got nuff money as it is! Don't give the bugger any other idea eh Ryan!! :p

So do I still get free membership? lol, anyways, Poster #8 is pretty much right. Who cares about the name though, I WANT A BB.COM GYM!!!!(with store) Then I would buy my stuff there...and workout there. Don't put a misc section tho, :D

There probably is some truth to the idea that the general public would expect a gym carrying the name "Bodybuilding.com" to be a sterotypical male testosterone driven environment. However Gold's still carries that burden too despite most of their gyms being what we have now as a typical club.

So I have a question, seriously, and not just related to naming a gym "Bodybuilding.com" but for everything related to Bodybuilding.com. What would you suggest as the best ways to shed that stereotypical image and be more accepted to the general public?

So if the gym is a no...can they atleast open a retailer? I preffer to go to a store than shop at a cyberstore.

Thats actually a pretty good idea. I agree though about the name because I know for example my mom who likes to work out or other people would be a little hesitant about going to a gym with the words bodybuilding due to all the stereotypes. Oh, and a gym should be opened in Sedona, there are no gyms at all over here.

It is interesting how prices vary around the globe when you add in shipping. I remember being at a show where there were a number of athletes and fans from Australia and New Zealand. They were all customers of BodyBuilding.com because they told me even with shipping from the USA, the prices were still cheaper than at their local stores. I would have thought the same would be the case in Europe?

I guess the closest gym to Sedona would be in Flagstaff. That would be a far drive to go to the gym and really difficult in the winter!

A gym in Sedona would be a challenge financially I would think. As I recall there is or was some club that had gym facilities and that was it. The demographic is Sedona is something like an average of 50+ but with a fairly high income. But it has a relatively small population. Maybe a gym combined with other sports type activities.

Shipping stores would be pretty helpful but I still would think that a Bodybuilding.com store would be more efficient in sales since not too many people approve of Cyberstores.

They should turn into a franchisor..they're would be 100 million stores instantly. lol
