i read in a magazine that people who eat fish oil capsules or tablet at least once a day lose fat faster than those who dont, is this true?
btw why do bodybuilders take em? i never understood it

Fish oil is a source of good dietary cholesterol. Good cholesterol is the raw material the body uses to ultimately make testosterone and other sex hormones.

There are other good reasons. I suggest "Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill" by Udo Erasmus.

Most people don't eat enough oily fish or other sources of Omega 3 fats. Fish oil are a handy way of making sure you don't go short.

There are some studies that seem to show that exercise after taking fish oil may increase fat metabolism slightly, but the amount is going to be small.

The benefits of fish oil are very considerable: heart, brain, joins, eyes, skin, etc., etc. I started taking it because of an eye problem for which studies have indicated can be helped by fish oil. The problem has cleared up and I hardly have any trouble with it these days.

I'm completely sold on the stuff. It's worth shopping around for the best offers and quality: some taste heavily of fish and others in the same price range do not.

im new to supplements so i dont really know whats good and whats not

is 3 grams/day enough? I only weigh 105 pounds

In my opinion, the essential supps for any bodybuilder are multi-vit, cal/mag if female, whey after workout, and fish oil.

I've just read an article under my other hat as breastfeeding counsellor about how rickets are making a comback because children now are not taking cod liver oil routinely, and mothers are now getting pregnant while deficient in Vit D.

While wearing one of my other hats, (tanning salon owner) the trade magazines are blaming the increase of rickets on the dermatologists and sunscreen manufacturers!
