Oh -- I did walk for 45 minutes last night! I forgot to post that. There was something!

Morning dbflgirl, Deb & Mike!

dbflgirl, my heartrate will probably be increasing and falling and increasing and falling tonight at the game. Does that count? Plus, I jump around a lot. :D

This is done in my best Al Michaels voice, "Well fans it looks like the Gamecocks are going to fall just 5 points short of the Tigers tonight. There is only 5 seconds remaining on the clock and they are pinned on their 5 yard line. Wait whats this? There is a female fan in the tiger endzone bending over with GAMECOCKS written on her shorts. Ball is snapped....30, 25, 20, 15, 10, 5 ....Touchdown Gamecocks!!!!!with no time remaining on the clock."

LOL -- if that worked, scienceteacher, believe me -- I'd be down there running the ball! :D

I'm trying not to think about the outcome of playing the #2 ranked team with an offensive line that has several freshmen starters. I don't even want to discuss our defense.

Oh, well -- I have faith Steve Spurrier will continue to work with us and we will see great things in the next two to three years. Until then, I'm hoping for unexpected upsets!

t-35 minutes until I have to go do too much. :( :D

What you could do is do pushups everytime SC scores, and do bodyweight squats whenever they allow a score.

Good luck tonight. 5-1-1 all time against the Tigers still indicates a win at one point. Tonight might be a Steve Spurrier type of game ala Florida Gator days....up against a top ranked team, nationally televised game, playing from the underdog position...hmmmmmmm!!

I'll be rooting for ya! :D

Hi hibby, I just sat down a few minutes ago in front of the tube & they're broadcasting your game here. Saw the last couple of minutes of the 1st quarter & your boys looked decent, & now with about 5 mins left in the half it seems to me that both defenses need a good boot in the butt. Kimsquit must be wearing THAT t-shirt because despite the 14-3 score right now I think your guys have a good chance. The crowd's enthusiasm has to be worth 7 points alone.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the game.

Awww, thanks so much guys!!! It's 12:13a.m. and we just got home. What a fun game!! It was so nice to see the Gamecocks playing so hard against Auburn. Our team is mostly freshmen and sophmores and Spurrier was not left with much after Holtz, but I think he is doing a fine job so far!

I really appreciate all the support! I lost my voice for the most part. I have to go nighty night because I have to be in the dentist's chair at 8:00a.m. tomorrow for Zooming fun.

MarkY, thanks so much for being such a sweetie and for supporting the Gamecocks! I heard the ESPN guys talking about Auburn's ranking. So, I guess you think they'll drop in the rankings? I wasn't sure as they were on the road. I'm not really hoping they will or anything like that (where's that "innocent angel" smiley when I need it?) -- not trying to be mean or anything. :D

They kicked an onside kick during the game that really caught us by surprise. Nice move by Turbeville -- we weren't expecting it at all.

Thanks, JT!!

Thanks, Jason!!

Thanks, Eddie!! Spurrier is a great coach! Syvelle Newton just started playing quarterback again in the last two games & he is coming right along! He played a very short while in his sophmore year, but hasn't played QB since. He really worked hard tonight!

Hi joed! Yep, we thought the offense was doing a bit better than the defense. We will come along. :)

Hi camchad! Thanks so much! We really were hollering like crazy. It was a loss, but we felt like we played a good game. :)

Sweet dreams everyone!

I just adore women who are knowledgable about football and actually enjoy the games. My wife wasnt much of a fan till she meet me.She began asking questions because i spent so much time watching and then next thing i know she was right next to me when the RAM won the SB in 99/00.I dont know who was more excited her or me.lol
She was a bartender for the first 8-9 year we were together and all of the "boys" were always amazed how much more she knew about the game then they did.

Morning guys! Happy Saturday!

I'm heading out to golf today with my pretty white teeth. :D

I hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend!!

Hiya Mike! The Gamecocks turned in a nice performance!

Hi Gunn! :)

Hi Barb! I didn't feel overly bad about the loss. Of course I always prefer winning, but I am glad to see Spurrier doing so much with the Gamecocks!

Hi dbflgirl! The Zooming process whitened my teeth up splendidly, but it also gave me swollen lips. I don't think that happens to everyone, but my skin is sun sensitive and maybe the lamp had something to do with it. I now know I will never have collagen injections put into my lips. :D By the way, nothing about the procedure hurt. I didn't feel a thing and it wasn't really uncomfortable to have my mouth open that long (no comments from the peanut gallery) because they insert a rubber retractor (this keeps getting more funny) to keep the mouth open. It kind of reminded me of Halloween vampire teeth turned around backwards. Anyway, it didn't overly stretch my mouth open, so it wasn't uncomfortable. I listened to the radio and zonked out towards the end of the procedure. I was sleepy from the game (and the beer) from the night before.

Hi Jason! Yep, I wish the Gamecocks had won, but am glad they weren't shellacked. We're heading out to golf at around 1:45, I believe. The weather is just gorgeous -- around 80 today with low humidity.

Hi Kali! I love football!!

Hi Nuc! Yep, it was.

Hiya GF! LOL I thought the post was getting more humorous as I typed along. :D

Hi Jason! Yay! I had my best game ever today. :D

Now, my golf history is:

One year of golfing using a tee everywhere -- my first year. Brian thought that would keep me from getting frustrated as a new golfer.

Then, I took a year and a half or a bit more off because I did my contest and then went to graduate school.

After that, I started golfing again but decided I wasn't teeing it up anymore unless I was on the tee box. I began that journey in May (had to edit -- I'm so old I can't remember when I was in graduate school). I was really pounding my clubs into the ground there for a while.

Well, today I golfed a 100. I was so happy! I didn't realize I was that close to shooting under 100 and I three putted the last hole! Dangit! Of course, it's just as well I didn't know. I would probably have messed up more.

I know 100 might now sound so great to some people, but it sure made me happy today!

Yipee!! :D

Oh, and furthermore, my lips are back to normal size!! :D

jmc53
09-30-2006, 03:06 PM
EXCELLENT

100 is a major achievement for such a short playing time.
Yesterday I played in a mixed event (men and women partnering each other). I played with a woman who has played for about 30 years, had lessons, practices, lives near the golf course - she shot 106!

The Cocks out everything ed over the Tigers except the final score. Great game !! SS ought to be proud.

My sorry ass USC escaped again. The Snake is going to have to visit practise this week and slap a few of the linemen around. Penalties galore !!!

If the left coast USC wants to play Ohio State in the National Championship they must get past Cal and Oregon...TG we play them both at home.

My other team U Mich (by cash default...grandsons tuition) is looking mighty good. I expect them to only loose to Ohio State and come to the Rose Bowl against Auborn and get to see my grandson.

Hi Baldsnake! SOS was mad at the crowd for cheering them of the field. He said not to boo them when they lose, but we certainly shouldn't cheer them on. :p I agree with him, but we were so happy to see them actually play good football. :D

That would be an exciting game! USC vs. Ohio State, I mean. :) We beat them in a couple of bowl games right before they started winning all their games. :D

Thanks, Jason! I enjoyed my first 100! Woo-hoo! I want to be good enough to sign up for a 9-hole league in the spring and that round made me feel more confident.

Okie dokes -- I've been quiet today because the Zoom procedure really did burn my lips. They were just swollen at first, but looked like they had a bad sunburn and then they doubled in size. After that, I took Advil and they came back down for my golfing yesterday. I thought I was on the road to recovery. Pooters. The next morning (today), I woke up with a huge blister on my lower lip, a smaller blister beside it and a small blister on my upper lip. They look like the blisters you get on your feet, but more slimy. Not purty at all. Sniff. Sniff. I bought some Carmex and am putting it on my lips regularly. I don't get cold sores and I'm not used to not pretty crud on my lips. Sniff.

That's all.

Off to watch a movie! Sweet dreams all!

!

Hibby, L-Lysine helps with cold sores (unfortunately, I do get them once or twice per year). I've also had sun blisters from...well...too much sun :). Anyway, Lysine appears to help tremendously in either case. I take it every day now anyway, as it's a great amino acid. It might help you ;)

=M=
10-01-2006, 04:00 PM
Hibby I literally feel your pain. I've gotten fever blisters for years, and they SUCK!!
I've tried every home remedy under the sun..some work and some are BAD. The worst one was buttermilk-I had to drink 3 glasses a day (thanx Grandma), I though I would vomit with each one-insert yucky face here.
Lysine didn't cut, acidophilus didn't cut, buttermilk was hideous and also didn't cut it.
Carmex is ok (as OTC goes), but the prescription Acyclovir worked best-but ONLY if you start it before the blisters form. :(

I have to be really careful in the sun because of this-can you say SUNSCREEN? Unfortunately I tend to forget the sunscreen, so then I have about 1-2 weeks of pure Hell!

Sorry you have to go through it!

Hibiscus09
10-01-2006, 05:18 PM
Thanks, M! I'll call the doctor tomorrow and check into the prescription medication. I am a sunscreen addict living in the south and use plenty. I was told the protective barrier cream for Zooming had 30SPF, but apparently that did not cut it.

Thanks dbx! I'll be sure to continue taking my amino acids.

Thanks joed and SV! I remember visiting a family friend in Kissimmee once when I was little and him showing us how to slice an aloe vera plant and telling us it was good for burns. I've bought gels for sunburns and liked it, but haven't had any lately.

Hi EC! That explains it. Little B used to love going shopping at Hot Topic. :) Lately, he buys pretty cool t-shirts online and I can't remember the name of the site right now. I asked him about Dita. He said he's not familiar with all the burlesque stars in the world. He's not amused at the moment. :D He's busy doing what he refers to as "stupid projects." He was complaining about teachers who think visual learning is the best way to learn or something like that the last time he strolled through the house. He's making a model of the brain for Psychology class and was doing some other project -- I can't remember exactly what it is -- something about chemical elements and I.D. cards. :p I'm glad there are no teachers torturing me currently. :)

I'm going nighty night. I don't have much patience with this lip stuff. I think I'll take a sleep aid and wake up with a better attitude tomorrow.

Morning all!

Well, I'll try to get this week off to a better start even though one of the first things I need to do today is have a word of prayer with the dentist. My lip is really hurting.

Other than that, it's lifting and cardio. I'll probably do shoulders and chest together today and then, cardio. I like to throw chest behind shoulders sometimes because my chest just tends to get too built up compared to my other bodyparts. Doing shoulders first will force me to lift lighter on chest.

I also have to ride out to the condo to meet the security people today.

That's all I think.

Ya'll have a super duper day!

Thanks, Kris! I probably will because the lip is ticking me off.

So, I went to the dentist this morning. The dentist who originally scheduled my Zoom was not in today, nor was his technician who did the Zooming. There was another dentist there, who was older and more crusty and I prefer those types of people anyway. They tend to shoot from the hip. :)

First, I had to endure the assistant who kept reassuring me that the sore would go away (I sure hope so -- I hadn't contemplated a sore for life! ) and that it looked like a sunburn to her. She then asked if I ever had been sunburned? I told her yes, but not to the point where it's oozing puss. :p Give me a break!

Next, crusty Dr. Smith entered as she was having the conversation with me and said it didn't look like a sunburn to him. He said it looked like a pretty bad abrasion skin injury and the tissue was definitely looking angry. I think he was thinking the patient was getting angry also. ;)

So, Dr. Smith prescribes a coricosteroid cream and off I go to the drugstore to pick it up.

Oh, and the assistant lady also gave me a lecture about possible side effects and the informed consent. It's not like I was threatening to sue them or anything. Whatever happened to bedside manner and customer service? It all seems to have gone to Hell in a handbasket.

I'm eating right now to fuel my workout.

Other Smith news:

1) Little B was harassed by a police officer yesterday. He was out driving his new car and came to a place where a police officer was directing traffic out of one of the larger churches in the area. The police officer had stopped traffic to allow the church people to exit the church. He walked up to little B and asked, "Do you own this car?" Little B says, "Yes." The police officer says, "You obviously didn't buy it. Did your daddy buy it for you? Probably. Is your daddy rich or something?" The conversation went on and little B said he just kept answering yes and no to the officer and he finally looked disgusted and walked off, waving him on to go. I mean really. Brian, Jr.'s appearance is kind of artsy/alternative and I know this is why the man decided to berate him. He's such a good kid and I'm not the type of parent to defend my children if they aren't being good kids.

Wow, am I sounding bitchy today, or what? :D

2) A happy note. Brittany left yesterday for Virginia (very near D.C.) to start dealer candidate school. I was nervous for her heading out on her own and she was a little nervous I think because she was being quiet. I know she'll do great! She'll be gone a week for this session.

I can't think of anything else. The weather sure is gorgeous here!

Be good!

Wow, that's completely inappropriate.
I don't care if the traffic cop is resentful of people who make more money than he does and the fact that he can't give his kid a nice car - there's no call for that kind of smart-ass commentary when dealing with someone who has not done anything wrong.

Man, I went to a rich-kids' high school. There were almost a dozen kids there who had Porsches... and most of them didn't deserve them.

I went to a poor kids' high school and we didn't have vehicles! :D

We have a vehicle advantage here with Brian being a car dealer, but we do get them slightly used cars and make them pay for gas, any tickets, etc. We either give them chores to earn gas money or they get part-time jobs. I think Brian, Jr. wants to go out into the world and work for his dinero. :)

Okie dokes -- I'm just now about to head out to do shoulders/chest/abs and cardio. Me and my crumbly/slimy/ugly lip. :D

I've decided to email Pam and get her to help me along my way with cutting beginning right after Thanksgiving. I think I'll do better cutting with a leader. She frowns at me if I don't do what she says and that seems to be enough to keep me in line. :D

I weighed myself this morning and am at 127.2lbs. I think I may be a little bloated as I can't imagine I'm throwing on weight that quickly. The oMoron had me at 16.2% which is a decrease from 16.5% last time. I'm thinking more like 18%ish from eyeballing myself in the mirror. ;)

Anyhoo, I feel like a blubber bootay. Maybe this should be titled "Blubber Bootay's Journal!" :D

Ha, ha SV -- you're right -- I'm probably around 20%. When you've been around here long enough, you'll figure out I only post photos of me in bikinis if I think I'm looking buff. I won't see "buff" until spring. :D

Okie dokes -- I've done shoulders & chest so far. I still need to do abs and cardio but the television dude is about to arrive to work on the television in the garage and I didn't feel like bonding. Especially with my cruddilicious lips.

I'll get around to it shortly. :)

Warmup seven minutes on the elliptical

Standing Arnold Presses*I did Arnold presses today, just to switch things up.

12 reps X 15lb dbs
8 reps X 25lb dbs
8 reps X 25lb dbs

Incline Barbell Bench Press

Warmup 8 reps X 60lbs
8 reps X 80lbs
4 reps X 100lbs *woo-hoo -- slowly increasing -- I could only get one out last time. I tried the fifth rep, but got stuck. Thank God for the Prospot. :)
5 reps X 90lbs

DB Side Laterals supersetted with Rear Delts using Rope Attachment

Side Laterals

8 reps X 10lb dbs*I always start these light to make sure my RC is in the mood.
8 reps X 15lb dbs
8 reps X 20lb dbs
8 reps X 20lbs

Rear Delts

10 reps X 30lbs
10 reps X 30lbs
10 reps X 30lbs
10 reps X 30lbs *Is it okay to lean my body back at an angle like this: / (ha,ha -- visuals) when doing these?

Pushups with feet elevated one riser

12, 12, 11 (Last time I did 10, 10, 10) *I thought victory thoughts and ARRRRGGHH but it didn't help. I just couldn't get that last rep out. LOL

Okie dokes. Television dude just rang my back doorbell and I had to talk to him with oozing lips. I could tell he was horrified by the shocked look on his face. (har, har)

That's all.

Hi, Hibbilicious! Sorry to hear about your face. Hopefully you'll be pretty again, soon! :D At least your workouts are still going awesome!

Dita. Yum! She's a very nice lady, too. Met her a few years ago in NYC at an event. Very down to earth.

And not all cops are a-holes like the one that harassed Little B. Some of 'em have power trips and like to harass kids...especially ones that look a little different from what they think people should look like...but the majority of 'em are good people (my bro's a cop). I hope Little B doesn't start listening to "Cop Killer" by Body Count a lot as a result.

Hi dbflgirl! You are most certainly not dense! :D

I didn't do the laterals with a cable, although you can. :) I did the delts with the rope. They're called face pulls -- I just forget to call them that:

http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/exercise3/facepulls.htm

Hiya jag! Good to see you! :D

Brian knows all cops aren't a-holes. My sister, Tammy, is a retired city police officer. :) Cools beans about the burlesque lady being nice. I just can't imagine being married to Marilyn Manson. I guess I don't have to. He's all hers, apparently.

Hi Diane,
It sounds like Brian jr. did exactly the right thing by answering all questions politely. So many kids would get "smart" with a cop like that - and that's when things get out of control.
I hope the lips gets better quickly - are you banned from kissing in the meantime?

Hibiscus09
10-02-2006, 03:11 PM
Hi Jason! Yep, Brian, Jr. is actually a very polite kid. He will stand up for himself if someone pushes too many buttons, but I'm sure he was afraid somewhat as he just started to drive and it was a police officer. Now, Britto actually asked for an officer's badge # once in Charleston. She's a spitfire. LOL I asked one once if he had bothered to get any training to operate his radar detector. Oops! The women in the family are the smartasses! :D

Nope, no kissing. :( It's making me sad. I look like the Cryptkeeper.

Hi Jason! We're playing the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday evening.

Let me check the line in the paper. . . . right now it's USC by 6.5 points. To tell you the truth, I don't know how we'll do. I think we're a better team if we're playing well. Who knows which team will show up? :p

Hi Chris! Ha! I'd better stay away from that stuff.

Oh -- and remember how I said I was bloated yesterday everyone? I weighed 127.2lbs? Well, today I weigh 123.6lbs. Good grief. LOL I knew I hadn't put on weight after a week of not working out.

Okay, so today I really am going to do cardio and abs ;) and keep doctoring my lips and meet the security people at the condo and meet the furniture people at the condo. . . I don't know what else.

I hope ya'll have a fantastic day!!

:D Hi dbflgirl!

Okay, so I think I may have a little black rain cloud over my head lately like Winnie the Pooh. I dunno why. :)

I went out to meet the security dudes and they had been waiting 30 minutes for me to arrive because apparently I had the time wrong. They were fine, but I hate keeping people waiting.

Then, the furniture chick came by and she didn't have my barstools or endtables -- just the bathroom mirror. Now, these are the furniture people that the condo people had contracted to help buyers and they have plans of the condos, etc. I worked with them because they would know what would fit since they had all the dimensions, etc. The mirror she brought was gorgeous -- kind of funky with Zebra print stuff on the frame and if you touched it, it actually felt like animal hair. Only problem was it was practically bigger than the bathroom itself. There was no way it was going to fit over the sink! :D So, I told her maybe I would use it on the foyer wall. I think I'm going to have to send it back, however, because Brian says the walls don't have normal size studs in them and they won't hold a lot of weight. That mirror was HEAVY!

Next, the curtain hanging dude shows up. He hangs the curtains and they look all purty, but I asked him where the pull thing was to close the drapes. He said these are pocket/rod curtains and they're not going to close. He also said there wasn't enough fabric there to close them anyway, plus they fit too snugly over the rod to slide. The furniture store lady ordered these also. I plainly told her I wanted the curtains to draw (A) for security reasons as we're not going to be there all the time, and (B) to keep the sun from damaging the furniture. *sigh*

Okay, so I was very nice and all and I'm waiting for the furniture store lady to call me back. She'll be in tomorrow.

That's it for black cloud stuff today. :D

My lip is slowly getting better. :)

I think I'm going to have to send it back, however, because Brian says the walls don't have normal size studs in them and they won't hold a lot of weight. That mirror was HEAVY!

Are you sure that Brian is not using this as an excuse cause he's not into zebra fur?

Seriously though, without getting all technical on you, if the studs will hold the roof up and/or carry the ceiling load (presumably they do) then any weight mirror will be fine - provided you use the correct type of wall anchor for the weight of the mirror.

Hi FM! :)

Hi Jason! Ha,ha -- actually Brian wasn't the first person to make the comment. It was the head constructions guy and the guy that financed the condominium project. They said something like it used to be a warehouse and the walls were added after the fact. They also said they used thicker sheet rock, but narrow wall studs. Brian said he thinks they're thinner metal things? Anyway, I don't know if one of those butterfly hangers will work. Does any of that make sense? I know nothing about such.

Oh, and Mr. Brian never has anything to say about home decor except give him a recliner and a television. :D

Hi Barb and dbx! :)

I'm going to do arms today sometime. First, I'm going to clean a lot. Fun, fun. ;)

I'm not a fan of those drama-queen television programs either. The one that bothers me the most is called "Beyond Boundaries" and has a group of physically disabled people dragging themselves across Central America. All of this TV talk is confusing me. Are there really other channels? The only station I get is FoodTV. :p

Happy Thursday! Anything fun planned today?

Morning, scienceteacher! :) Your weather sounds much cooler. Brrrrr! I hope I break my personal best also, especially since that's what happened last weekend. :D

Morning, Kris!! Hope things are going great for you! I have back/bis/abs today and maybe cardio fun. I'll decide while I'm out there. I have not watched a lot of the channels like FoodTV or FitTV. My daughter loves Rachael Ray -- is she on FoodTV?

Yep, she is. She's too cute! :p Superchatty and full of energy. I like Giada deLaurentis a bit more.

I've seen FitTV on occassion, but I can't get interested. There's something so PBS about the workouts.

How's the bulk coming along? I haven't seen you mention anything in regards to non-Mother Nature weight gain in a bit.

That's because I'm stuck at 123.5lbs, but it's my own fault. I'm eating anywhere from 1,800 to 2,100 calories depending on the day. I need to be eating 2,100 calories every day, but I don't have time. :D I must focus better!

I was all excited two days ago because my weight was 127.something pounds and then my period started. LOL Oops!

I'll keep plugging away. . . . :)

Lori, the problem with hot here is that it's usually hot and very humid!! Yuck! I love warm weather also when there's not much humidity. Luckily, it's the time of year now where the humidity isn't as much of a factor. :)

Here we go again -- talking about the weather in my journal. Am I exciting, or what??!! :D

Today's workout took 43 minutes, not counting the warmup. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I guess it's under 45 minutes, so I'll take it. :D

Warmup 7 minutes on the elliptical

Superset Pullups and Chinups * I was a little down on these because I haven't been doing them regularly enough. Pooters. A friend told me today I need to be more consistant. Pooterhead. :D

Pullups

4, 3.5, 3

Chins

5, 4.5, 3

*Sad, sad performance. *sigh*

Close Grip Seated Rows

8 reps X 90lbs
8 reps X 100lbs
5 reps X 110lbs

[This was an improvement over last time, which was 8 X 80, 8 X 90, 5 X 100]

Superset Wide Grip Pulldowns with Straight Arm Pulldowns

Wide Grips

8 reps X 90
8 reps X 90
8 reps X 80
10 reps X 60lbs*I think I was just feeling frustrated today and did that set just because

Straight Arms*I did these standing straight like Christopher suggested. I may have to throw my ProSpot out the window because it frustrates me so much psychologically to have to do lighter weights than I did at the commercial gym.

8 reps X 30lbs
8 reps X 30lbs
6 reps X 40lbs

Straight Bar Curls with ProSpot Bar*I really like these. My biceps get pumped and numb and it's kind of cool. :p

8 reps X 40lbs
8 reps X 50lbs
8 reps X 50lbs

DB Alternating Curls -- drop sets*I picked up 25s and my biceps just felt fried. I wasn't going to be curling those today.

5 reps X 20lb dbs, 5 reps X 15lb dbs, 5 reps X 10lb dbs
5 reps X 20lb dbs, 5 reps X 15lb dbs, 5 reps X 10lb dbs

Then, I walked over to try one more set of Straight Bar Curls and could only do 4 reps with 50lbs. So, I thought @#$! and walked over to do another drop set and couldn't curl the 20s!! LOL I guess I was done.

I'm going to walk in the hood later.

Oh, and pooters & pooters -- I headed in to make my shake and I only had 1/2 scoop left! I hadn't even noticed I was running out of shake. I think I've been focused on my lips. Ha,ha So, I had 1/2 scoop protein shake, 4 BCAA pills, a scoop of glutamine, and 5 egg whites for protein. Whatever!

That's all I have to say about that.

Ta-ta.

Ha,ha So, I had 1/2 scoop protein shake, 4 BCAA pills, a scoop of glutamine, and 5 egg whites for protein. Whatever!

That was a great workout Hibby :). Ever thought about trying flavored BCAAs like Xtend? It's a bit pricey, but they're delicious. You can make a gallon and drink sip from it all day too. I'm hooked. I reach in the fridge every morning and get a quick glass of watermelon flavored BCAAs to "feed" my body, 1st thing. Xtend has citrulline malate & glutamine in it as well. It's great any time of day. I'm actually about to try MRM's brand (called BCAA + G) tomorrow when it arrives. It's cheaper and has more servings than Xtend, but I'm crossing my fingers on the flavoring :) Sorry for the supp rant :D

I also use watermelon flavored Xtend. I mix a scoop with a liter of water and drink it during my workout, then I put a scoop in my PWO shake. It tastes pretty good.

Dbx, do you take BCAAs even on non workout days? Let me know how you like the MRM brand.

Mark, if you fllow Scivation's advice, you should probably mix (depending on your weight) 4-5 scoops to drink pre/during workout and then 1-2 immediate post. And yes, I do drink them on "off" days. They can be very beneficial to drink 1st thing next day after previous day's workout. They're also effective for cardio to save burning muscle, and especially, valuable for low calorie/cutting phases too.

Scivation is capitalizing on the fact that they're the first company to effectively mask BCAA's horrible taste with a great flavoring system. They just raised their already pricey price $5 more! Hence, my venture to try another brand. When comparing profiles between the two, it appears that MRM actually has the cheapest price per gram servings of L-Leucine. I'll be glad to tell ya how it tastes, and should be able to do that tomorrow.

Hiya MarkY! Thanks to you too!

Morning, Jason! The lips just have a little owie left, so ginger kissing going on here. :D

We do travel sometimes to see the Gamecocks. We're not going to the Kentucky game (this weekend), but we will be traveling when they play at Vanderbilt. Brian, Jr. wants to give Vanderbilt a lookover for college, so we figured we could do a dual purpose trip to Tennessee. :)

Happy Friday everyone! I'm not sure how today is going to shape up. My brother is in the hosptial in Aiken for an intestinal blockage.

http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/002927.htm

I just googled that article quickly, but that doesn't look like fun. I don't know what is causing his blockage, but he has had hernia troubles before and I noticed the article mentions those. In any event, my brother is five years older than me and about a year and a half ago was at 500 plus pounds. Over the last year and a half or so, he's lost over 200lbs. I'm not sure what his exact weight is now. I'll have to ask him. I know by appearance he looks half the size he used to be. He did all of this through nutrition and lots and lots of walking.

Anyway, he's the only person in my family of 16 who has been morbidly obese and I have been so happy to see him losing weight. He can walk without a cane now and actually moves around well like a healthy person.

That's all. I may be going to Aiken today.

Ya'll be good!!

Morning, Jason! LOL -- I love the expression "Crikey!" I was counting my parents in that number and I'm the fourteenth child -- the end of the litter. :)

Thanks about my brother to both you and SV! *bighug* for both of you. :) Well, it's all been resolved while I was sleeping. They went ahead and did an emergency surgery on him and said his intestines were just all twisted.

Johnny had this going on: Twisting or kinking of the bowel (volvulus) Yuck! Theys straightened it out and he is fine and sleeping. I'm going to call him later after the drugs wear off and see how long he'll be in the hospital.

Thanks for the congratulations, SV. :) I was very happy to see him finally care enough to do something about it. He has worked all his life and was laid off from a job he had been at for some years. Noone would rehire him and he decided it had to do with his weight. He found a new job in the last few months after losing a lot of the weight.

So anyhoo, I'll be here today to bother ya'll afterall. :D

So, I cleaned a lot today and had lunch with Brian and he's heading home now and we'll do our hood walking. :)

I thought I'd give ya'll an update on my brother. It turns out I was wrong and not a good weight guesser for how much he had weighed. He said he weighed over 600lbs and is now just under 300lbs. Anyway, he's 6'3" and has some more to go, but I'm glad he's lost so much.

I also found out the incision for his surgery today went from right under his breast bone all the way down to his lower intestines. Yikes! They cut out the twisted up intestines (hope I'm not grossing anyone out) as opposed to straightening it out. Apparently, it was too twisted up and damaged looking.

Other than that, everything went fine. They said his blood pressure was good and that was great news because he took blood pressure meds for quite a while when he was very overweight. His other bloodwork turned out well also.

Just thought I'd update ya'll on what went on. He's out of work for three weeks, but seems to be in good spirits and feeling alright. :)

Very pleased for your brother. He's done so well to lose all that weight.
He was a big bloke wasn't he. Crikey! (Threw that one it cause you like it).
Last of 14 kids - did you ever have new clothes or was it always hand-me-downs? You must have a squillion nieces and nephews.
For CGBP, depending on width of grip, something more than half and less than three-quarters of normal bench press weight is about right for most men - I'm guessing it's the same for women.

Hi Jason! Yes, he was a big bloke! :) It's strange because he was always trim through his mid-twenties. I don't know what happened. I'm glad he's doing better with it all now.

Yes, always hand-me-downs. I never even noticed until I started dating Brian and had to go hang out with kids who had more. I remember the first time I had dinner at Brian's house I was wondering why there were two forks on one side of the plate and an extra fork and spoon at the top! WTH? :D We always went rushing for forks and thought they were weapons if someone else tried to get our food. ha,ha Just kidding! ;) We really didn't have extra flatware, however. :p

I do have quite a few nieces and nephews, but not as many as you think. The most children any of my siblings had was four, and some have never married. I guess they want some alone time. I can relate! LOL

Thanks for the info about CGBP. I had my hands about 6 to 8 inches apart and kept my elbows close to my sides. I don't do flat bench presses, but my inclines are at about 100lbs, so I guess I'm doing alright.

Hi EC! Naps are a wonderful thing. :)

Hi fitty!! Thanks!! How do you like these tater tots? Ha,ha ;) Just teasing! I actually do love tater tots w/catsup. Yum!

Sweet dreams, all!

I can imagine.
Confession time - I have something of a cutlery fetish (I just really love nice chunky flatware), and when we have guests Michelle thinks it odd that I make a big deal out setting the table just right. Now don't tell the others about this, knoeledge of my cutlery fetish might ruin my reputation as a knock-around good old Aussie bloke :)
Have a great Saturday - hopefully a score in the 90's followed by a big gamecocks win. (I just got back from a 79 - not good for me).

Morning, guys -- happy Saturday! I slept until 9:00. It was wonderful. :)

Brittany arrived home safely last night from her first week of dealer candidacy school. She's still sleeping, but when she called home during the week seemed to be having a great time and meeting new friends. :)

Hi Cervasa! Thanks for visiting my journal. GO COCKS! right back at you! Yuck on the wedding! I hate when people plan stuff on Carolina football night. Don't they know anything? LOL I feel like we can win against Kentucky. Hopefully, the Gamecocks will show up ready to play hard. :) Oh, and we get to go to the Vanderbilt game. I'm excited about traveling to see them!

Ummmm, enjoy the wedding. :D

Hi Barb! That did scare me. I've constantly been somewhat worried about Johnny anyway. I'm so glad to see himself into better shape. I hope you have a great weekend also!

Hi Jason! LOL about the cutlery. I set the table correctly now. There was no way I wasn't learning once I met Brian's mom. I think my fetish would be the china, however (although I like pretty cutlery also and little B demands that I buy substantial cutlery because he hates any of the real dainty stuff). I love pretty dishes! My sister is worse than me. She has started resorting to storing sets of China in her garage because she has nowhere to put her new sets. :D

Ha! I wish on the former and I sure hope so on the latter! Sorry about your 79. It's difficult for me to say that, by the way. When Brian gets grouchy over a 79, I want to make him eat my Cocky headcover. I suppose it's all relative, however, and want you boys to be happy with your golf score also.

Happy Saturday!!

Hi Lisa and Lori! Hope both of you have a fantastic weekend! :)

I forgot to mention in my last post that I have contacted Pam (bodybuilder/nutrition lady). She is about to do the Nationals in November and has placed second the last two tries in Lightweight Bodybuilding. I hope she wins this time!! Anyhoo, we set up an appointment for Tuesday at 5:00pm. I seem to do better if someone is watching over me (i.e., I'm more consistent because I know I'm going to be calipered and get a report of how I'm doing. I like good reports. :D ). So, once I meet her, I'll feel compelled to be good. Fun!

Hey Hibiscus, I thought about you on the way home from my barn party last night. I usually listen to Sirius satellite radio and the radio classics channel. Well, last night, the radio classics channel was carrying the Gamecocks game, so I listened to the game until the first half ended.

They won 24-17!

You have a lot going on for such a young lassie.

Cocks kicked some butt....good to see. My USC (mostly freshmen) will get by Oregon but( Cal who should have never lost to Tenn. and who should be in the top 4) will stop my Trojans. I think for both of us its wait 'till next year. My money (literally) is on U. Michigan this year. Tuition for grandson would buy a new Lexus.

Wow -- lots of visitors.

First, I'd like to say that when Brian woke up this morning and got out of bed (which always wakes me), I was thinking, "Man, I can't believe he is getting up early again on a weekend!" I groggily asked, "What time is it, sweetie?" and he said, "10:30!" :eek" Holy Moly, we never sleep that late. Yesterday was 9:00 and today 10:30. I guess I can't use the "I'm tired" excuse this coming week. (Hey, and I'm talking about an excuse for not working out!)

Hi Kris!! Happy Sunday!

Hi Simpy! Thanks so much for visiting my journal. I'm thinking you're a Wildcat fan? I can relate to the not being happy and being used to losing. I'm a long suffering Gamecock fan. :p

I can't wait to see how you do in your contest. Regardless of the outcome, you look awesome!! I know it's hard work and you have obviously turned it in! Not long now!!

Hi Baldsnake! I'm glad your USC won! My USC is a lot of freshmen also. We have one senior on the offensive line, two on the defensive line and Syvelle Newton, our QB. I think most of the rest of them are freshmen. My money is on Ohio State. Cal could come back into the picture, but I sure hope they don't. ;) Other than that on your schedule, I think Notre Dame has a decent team so they'll be tough. Maybe you guys will come out better than you think.

We have the hurting part of our schedule coming up soon. :p We've already played Georgia and Auburn *sigh -- those are our losses* and in the future we have Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida and Clemson (I'm hoping we at least pull out an upset and beat one of them). Next week is Vanderbilt. Hopefully, we'll cross over that hurdle with a win.

Hi batts! I sent you a PM. Thanks so much about my brother!

Hi ScottC! A barn party sounds like fun! Thanks for visiting here. Thanks for listening to my Gamecocks! They had Kentucky down 17 to zip and let them come back some. I wish they would do better holding on to nice leads. So, does Spurrier apparently. LOL

joed, yep -- he looks like he's about to blow a gasket at times! He's as entertaining as little Lou was when he'd go up and down the field acting like he was about to spontaneously combust! :D

Hi Deb! Thank you very much!

Hi Jason, yes he does!! :D Okay, for anyone else who's fallen asleep due to all my ramblings today, wake up and listen to parental bragging!!

Brian, Jr. has been invited to check out the S.C. Honors College at the University of South Carolina because of his PSAT scores (he scored in the 99.something percentile) and he made it into the regional orchestra after auditioning Saturday morning. :D Yay! We have been receiving so many invitations to dinners and the like for colleges. We may go to the S.C. Honors College thing because it's followed by being able to attend "Frankenstein" at the Koger Center for the Arts. We loved "Dracula," so I might actually get little B to that dinner. I don't think Brian will go to college in South Carolina, however. He wants to travel.

Next, is All-State tryouts, but I'm not sure whether Brian will want to do that or not. They practice A LOT! He likes his cello more when he's playing for himself than he does when he's going to tons of practices. We'll see. . . .

Hi MarkY! Sorry about your SunDevils. Thanks about my brother and the Gamecocks!

Hi SV! They did! Yay!

Hi Lori! I'll be sure to let you know what Pam tells me. She's probably going to break into song, "Fatty, fatty two-by-four, can't get through the kitchen door" or something like that.

Okie dokes -- leggies later today, but it will have to be afternoon because I need to get some food into my system!

Be good and Happy Sunday!!

Warmup 11 minutes on the elliptical

Wide Leg Box Squats*I haven't done a box squat in years. :p I used my high stepper with enough risers to where the box was 1" below my knee cap. That seemed low enough as I was going below parallel. I also had a very wide stance and tossed my bootie way back. I let my bootie touch the box, pause just a second for the weight to transfer & then, drove upwards. That way I'm not using "springing" momentum. I really feel these in the hamstrings and glutes and inner thighs. :p In case any of you were interested. :D

Hi Jason! Me too! :)

I golfed a 52 on the first nine and then we were getting kind of perturbed with the walking foursome in front of us. We were in a cart and are pretty fast paced when golfing. We kept coming up on them and waiting and waiting. Then, we tried to entertain ourselves by just playing putt putt on the greens. We just couldn't take it anymore after nine holes, drove around them and just golfed in the last few holes.

I don't know why they never offered to let us play through. Usually people do & we do if we're a foursome and a twosome keeps waiting behind us. Anyway, I asked Brian if he thought it was because I'm a female. He said maybe. Heck, I was doing just as good as they were. :p Or maybe they weren't too nice or not too bright or figured they just didn't want to let us play through. :) There was noone in front of them. I dunno, but we were definitely getting impatient and bored. They stayed on the green so long, we didn't know what they were doing. :D

It was a chilly & cloudy day also and we wanted to get home to pig out and watch football. :D

That sucks those idiots did not let you guys play through.
It's called golf Etiquette. You or someone in your group should have spoken up when you met up with them on a T or something. I know I would have. Just asked nicely if you can play through.

Yep, since it was chilly I was not feeling like I was staying warmed up while golfing and my swing was feeling stiff. It's no fun waiting. :p We enjoyed the front nine, but it was going to be a very slow back nine because we were breathing down their necks the last few holes. Plus, Brian is like you with the waiting and I figured we'd better leave before he killed someone. :D I had thoughts in my head that if he would take the two men on the left, I would take the two on the right. :)

Hello :)
I'm just popping in to say Thanks for the nice comment you left in my journal. You look great too!!! This is a killer workout damn women!

Quick question I have done SLDL's with DB's but switched to the barbell because I couldn't hold the damn DB's as they got heavier. I have straps (never used them before :p ), do you like using the DB's rather then the barbell? I've been having some wrist problems so Im not sure which would be best. Anyways awesome workout .. keep up the good work! :)

Hibiscus09

Hi Booty! :) Thank you! No, I prefer to use the bar. I just throw in dbs to switch things up. I use straps for the heavier dumbbells and as I go heavier using the bar. I just got new straps a couple of weeks ago and was able to go up to 140lbs with the bar. It made me happy, happy. Before that I was using 90 or 100lbs with the bar. Anyway, the straps really do help! You should give them a try!

Hi Jason! :) It is feeling better. By lunchtime today, I was plenty hungry and feeling fine. Thanks!

Okie dokes -- just did Chest and then took a 40 minute jaunt around the neighborhood. Normally, I would do chest & tris, but I just did tris and I didn't want to do them again today. I need to revamp my workout schedule. It's not the way I like it. I think I'll work it out for next week where I do shoulders and hamstrings together and quads and calves together. I don't like doing quads and hamstrings on the same day because my hamstrings need more help. Speaking of which, while I was walking! My hammies were mondo sore. My quads were a bit, but nothing like the hamstrings. My bootay is a bit tender also. :p

Okay, while on the neighborhood walk I saw yet another insane neighbor. We've got some special people in this hood. They get so indignant over stuff. So, a dry cleaning van was going around passing out flyers for home dry cleaning service. The neighbor lady came out screaming at him like a banshee. I mean screaming. Of course, she got our attention, so we watched her in action. She was really screaming at this kid driving the van who looked to be high school age -- yelling at him that there was no soliciting in the neighborhood. Well, his flyer passing outer buddy was across the street and a few houses up and another neighbor was out in the yard. She starts screaming at the neighbor, "SOLICITORS!! SOLICITORS!!" Then, the guy in the van drove over to pick his buddy up and she's chasing the van down the street. LOL So entertaining! Crazy people.

That's all the excitement for tonight!

Oh, and she can only be topped by the whack job that lives down the street who takes it upon himself to call people and let them know when other people's dogs are pooping in their pinestraw or yard. :D When he called me, I really didn't know what to say. LOL I was dumbstruck that he was so concerned about my pinestraw. :)

What the heck is pinestraw?

My next door neighbors let their dog out and she comes over to my swale to poop. Why doesn't she poop on her own damn swale? Grrrr.

We have leash laws, but sometimes the doggies get free anyway. I don't mind the doggies, but my neighbor behind me has a huge cat that likes to visit and traumatize my bunnies. I love the bunny rabbits we have in our yard. I'm just amazed the man down the street takes the time to call to tell on people's dogs when they're not even in his yard. He's a grump! Oh, and he calls animal control all the time too and people's pets get toted away. We really don't have a big loose dog problem, but occasionally you see one who has managed to break free. :D

Ummm, that's a joke about the pinestraw isn't it?

In case it isn't coastalgirl :D , it's used for mulch in flowerbeds and natural areas. We have lots of pine trees in the South. :) Maybe not that far south?

For a session or three, why don't you try a little less pre-exhaustion - say 5 reps at 25 & 35 (instead of 8), to see if you can get a few 40's under you're belt - you can always go back to 35's at higher reps after you have a crack at the 40's.

You've certainly got some kooky neighbors - sounds like some of them need a job or a hobby. I used to have a neighbor (when I last lived in a city) who would rake up all the leaves in MY yard and leave them in piles for me to collect - problem being I had a native bush kind of garden and the leaves were natural mulch for the plants. After he raked them up I would go out and kick the piles around until they were all scattered again. Same guy had a white pebble driveway - he'd rake the pebbles up to his car, then pull his car forward one car's length so he could rake the pebbles under his car, then pull his car back and removed the tire marks in the pebbles. he would fit right in there in your neighborhood.

LOL, Jason -- we do have some major whackos in this neighborhood. In the newsletter, they're always posting descriptions of vehicles and tag numbers (if they get them) of those who they think are driving unsafely. Brittany thinks we should go around and get the tag #s of all the neighborhood board members and start falsely reporting them to the traffic police. :D Oh, and luckily none of my family has made the neighborhood "police report" yet. :D

One time they put a request in the newsletter for those of us who don't work to please go around the neighborhood (it's a big neighborhood!) and roll people's Herby Curbies (trash cans) back around to the back after the garbage men came so they wouldn't be sitting out all day. Now, I don't work but I'll be damned if I'm making it a project to roll the neighbor's herby curbies to their backyards. :D I do that for next door neighbors who are out of town, but that's as far as it goes. :)

Great idea! I almost asked for suggestions and then forgot. I'll start giving that a try and see if I can break through this stalling point. :)

Am I coastgirl now? :D

Ok, we call that mulch. Maybe pinestraw is a SC name? We do have pine trees here. In fact there are two in my neighbors yard that are always blowing pine needles onto my screen enclosure. It's impossible to get them out (it's a two-story enclosure).

Hmmm... dog poop in front, pine needles in back... maybe it's time to move! :D

Pinestraw is a type of mulch:

I guess we just call it pinestraw. I'm glad we had this discussion. It's about time to replace ours. :)
