So anyways... im in the gym yesterday squatting on the smith machine. This wasnt my usaul gym and they didnt have a free weight squat. Anyhow I have used the smith machine before so im no rookie to using it... so im squatting with my friend and i go to rack it. You have to twist the bar and make sure the hooks hook on to the little pipes.. which I did.. however the hook must have not been firmly on... i step out from under the bar and as im stepping out... BAAANG the whole 275 lbs and myself go crashing to the ground. I think I did the smarth thing... rather then try to hold it up and kill myself... i just went with it. Somehow I got right back up and wasnt hurt at all... but then I wake up this AM and my back is soar and stiff... and it hurts when i lean back. =/

Sorry to hear that good thing you weren't hurt. Just rest your back and put some ice on it.

'the best you can do, just stay off lifting for a bit because pretty much every free lift stresses the back. GL man!

Interestingly enough I had an issue this morning doing squats on the Smith. It was my own fault. I was doing short sets to go up heavier and ended up getting hurt. I jumped in on 275 and didnt set myself properly and use proper form. On rep 3 the whole gym heard a crack and I felt a shock down my left leg. I could push the weight up any further and was stuck mid rep. I quickly racked it and almost fell straight to the ground. Needless to say I went straight home and used a heating pad. Damn thing hurts like hell. The ironic part was that I was using a belt for the first time in a while. Damn it
