My parents are both in late fourties with very bad backs and completly ouy of shape. There lower backs are so bad that they have trouble induring minuit walks at times. i was wondering if anybody out there has had a bad lower back and managed to find a way to combat this sort of problem and get iin great shape.

around 3 years i suffered a burst disc in my lower back which put an end to my normal daily routine for about 3 months. walking is a definate must as the motion of walking is good for the back. stretching is very important. training the abdominals. a high protein diet. also i would recommend a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement. the worst thing to do is just sit around and do nothing. you have to get out there and do something about it. 40's isn't old but you have a bad back then you feel 90. the combination of these things got me back training and working again. get active and stretch and life is all of a sudden "great" again.Richie
