I have never ever purchased a weight gainder protein shake before. I always just mixed 18 oz. of milk into a protein shake and drank. Are there any members here that swear by weight gainers, and have had good experiences with them. Also, any negative feedback in terms of taking a weight gainer related to health, bloading, fat gain, etc... I want to hear your experiences!

I have been looking into trying Universal Real Gains, this product seems to stick out against some of the others I have looked into.

I have also looked into:

CytoSport Gainer
Nature's Best Isopure Mass
ProLab N-Large II
Ultimate Nutrition Muscle Juice

Feedback would be greatly aprreciated to which gainer is the best overall quality, price, serving size, taste, etc.....

I'm a skinny 17yr old 139lbs 5'8 guy and have been looking for a gainer aswell the past few days. Cyto gainer has gotten the best feedback almost everywhere I've went and I will probably go with it aswell.

Also, when is a good time to take a protein bar? Prior to workout your suppose to have a gainer shake, do you have a bar aswell?

Im probably going with these supplements:
cyto gainer chocolate mint
gnc mega men multivitamin
+glutamine/flax seed/oil for shake

sorry if i hijacked your thread!

The best time to take a protein bar would be as a snack in between major meals. Maybe between Lunch and Dinner. And take your gainer before or after a workout. All depends on when you lift. I am 5-9 about 200 pounds, about 9% body fat, and I hit a stand still. It is hard for me to get above 210, and I think i may experiment with a gainer just to see if increasing my calories would allow me to add more lean muscle mass.

thanks, now I understand what they mean by taking 5-6 meals a day(by using bars as meal replacements).

SDSU maybe list the supplements(if any) that you are using so other can try to help you get over your rut!

Cyto Gainer is definitely the way to go. You might also want to look into Muscle Milk. It's made from the same company and is phenomenal.

i heard muscle milk just makes you fat. I am kind of paranoid about eating things with high fat content, even though it is "good" fat because i get plenty of "good" fat from other things. Last thing i want is extra fat in my diet. I will look more into the cyto sport gainer.

Cyto sport defends having higher fat content in its newer product Muscle Milk because of the "good fat" you addressed. They go onto say...

-MCTs, the predigested "fatless fats", are more likely burned for muscle energy and heat than stored as fat. 20% of human milk and Muscle Milk lipids are MCTs. MCTs also promote positive nitrogen balance.

I haven't tried it before, but if you've been trying conventional whey products and you've reached a hurdle, it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
