You and your book!

I would like shoulders like that.People who don`t work out think I`m crazy."You are concerned about your shoulders?!" "But you look great what is your problem?" I guess we all want to improve and after we improve then of course there is something else that suddenly "as though we never had seen" before needs improving and here we go again...human nature.

I`ll check out the links and thanks!Karen

Thanks Karen! My shoulders were a weak point at one time. I spent my off season that year focused on them to bring them up. The width of my back and biceps have always been my strong points. The others I had to work at. LOL

Don't let other peoples concerns bother you. ;)

I`ll take that advice to the bank.

It will definitely help me focus on working those bodyparts that need attention. My arms and shoulders are going to take Work.It is going to require 100%of all my concentration to break through this plateau.

I think I actually did that today...focus.It was really neat.I didn`t even seem to notice when that guy left me a huge stack of 45lb. plates on the seated calf machine. Karen

Good luck with the book!

Here's a shoulder question for you: Whenever I do side raises, my shoulders click loudly. It's not pain but it's uncomfortable and it feels like something bad may happen. Anyone know what i should do to correct that? It happens even when I lift lower weights.

I'm training towards the FAME: Fitness And Model Expo ( www.fitnessandmodelexpo.com ) and I am determined not to let my shoulder workout lag behind...

Thanks for your help

One thing I might add that I hear quite often:

Don't avoid tap water completely. Cavities and tooth decay are on the rise because people have been drinking so much bottled water, which obviously contains no fluoride.
My professors have recommended drinking one 8 oz. glass of tap water a day for people who drink filtered water.

About shoulders....I've got some HUGE ass man shoulders/back for being such a short woman and I am frequently chastized visually by other women (as well as men) in my gym. Although you feel that yours are weak, hit them hard, as I take great pride in mine, even though I do get rude stares. Shoulders as you know improve your overall posture and command respect!

Don't give up!!!

Hi,
I took 1/2 bottle yesterday pre-workout and since I needed to ride my bicycle back home (a few miles), I was tired and finished off my small bottle of Redline fitness drink. It's now the next day and I'm still wired...what can help me get back to normal??? Just take some walks during the day?

PLEASE help!
Thanks. I know better for next time....IF I take this stuff again, I will only drink about 1/4 of the small bottle pre-workout and nothing afterward. I won't use it for every workout either.

You can get minerals to put in your filtered water that take care of this probablem!... drinking tap water can give you unwanted stuff!

The only way I know of to lose weight forever is a change in lifestyle. So many people live unhealthy lifestyles. They drink pop, eat processed foods and meats, eat crap with tons of high fructose corn syrup, and they tend to stay away from healthy natural foods that all of us on these forums like to eat. All it takes is a change in lifestyle (learning to enjoy healthy diet and exercise) and EULA!!! You have permanent weight loss!

I thought fluoride was administered topically. And don't most people rinse with tap water when they brush?

So really, if you don't want to swallow city water, then swishing a few times a day should be fine. Or stop off at the water fountain at the gym.

Right? Anybody?

I agree with everything on the front page but the dairy part and the one bodypart a week thing.

One of the reaosns people go to once a week work is because with a 7 day(weekly split) if you do more than once a week on a muscle you CANNOT be resting adequately.

My solution: Simply move to a 4/8 day split. Nowone said your body worked on a 7 day schedule, in fact it doesnt. Try an 8 day split and feel the results.

These supplements are essentially the same thing.. they both come from natural plants and have been proven to boost metabolism and decrease appetite. Only problem is- ephedra has been banned in the US for a few years now, due to deaths caused by heart attacks from excessive exertion and overdose. That being said, out of all the supplements and diet pills I have taken, ephedra really does work the best, if you take it in the recommended doses. It is VERY dangerous.. so if you do decide to get some take caution and see if you have any adverse side effects before adding it to your daily regimen.

Nope i believe she means train each bodypart 1X each week. EX. one Chest/tri next legs/shoulders then back/bis or something like that with approx 48 hrs rest between each bodypart.

Isn't it just clean eating 5 times a day? What's the big secret?
Just wondering if anyone read anything about it's validity and what
the trick is to it.

okay, i'm a bit confused... i'm just curious as to why dairy is something we are supposed to stay away from, even low fat, fat free? I see articles promoting dairy products all the time and I have lost weight consuming 2 servings daily before, but should I not be? I'm trying to lose fat (about 8 lbs) and get lean and strong. So should i stay away from dairy? Thanks in advance for any input.

To lose weight and keep it off for life you have to make a lifestyle change, it can't be a diet you do until you lose the weight! You have to be ready and willing to make a change for the rest of your life!

You have to change:

Diet/nutrition
Exercise
Mind
Attitude

You have to think of it as a lifestyle change NOT a DIET! Diets fail!! Lifstyle changes succeed!!

You have to get off the couch, turn off the TV, go exercise and throw out that processed quick prepare foods!

Many competitors or hard core bodybuilders will avoid dairy completely, but it some is healthy for you. Just switch to skim or low-fat milk and cheeze and limit your intake to maybe a serving a day. The calcuim and protein is good for your body. When your are dieting, try to focus on what your body needs, and the rest will work itself out. Avoid "empty calories" that don't have any nutritional value...

You don't have to workout 7 days a week. This is how I do it... Monday Chest/Tri's Tuesday Legs (front)/Abs/Calves Wednesday Back/Bi's Thursday Legs (back)/Abs/Calves Friday Shoulders Do two muscle groups a day! Do Cardio on as many days of those 5 that you can!

In weight loss exercise program we can loose the excess weight we are having some fitness exercises and diet. By doing exercises we can keep our body fit, we can be energetic and active so that it removes laziness from the body. Diet is also a process through which we can control excess weight by controlling the quantity of food we take and also taking healthy food simultaneously.

Walking and exercise is the best way to reduce the obesity. Walking is simple and easy program through which we can be fit and also free from health problems such as heart attack, blood pressure, diabetes, etc.,. By walking we can also reduce our tensions, anxiety and depression so that we can be fit and active always. Brisk walk is type of walk in which we can reduce weight 100 calories per mile. Before starting weight loss program its better to take suggestion of physician so that he suggests the best way to reduce the weight which suits our body stamina.

First thing we have to do before doing exercise is warm up your body for some time and then start-doing exercise so that we can avoid dullness .We should do the kind of exercise that suits our body stamina and strength. We should not do exercise beyond our stamina as it may cause to the illness and also side effects. We have to be careful while doing exercise because sometimes it may cause pains in muscles and also at joints. Once we have started the weight loss program we should continue it daily otherwise there is chance of gaining all the weight that we have lost.

No you do not have to feel hungry to loose weight. In fact you should not feel hungry. From what I gathered on this site, by the time you feel hunger your body has already started catabolism which means that it is storing fat and using muscle for energy instead.

MsFit- I'm competeing for the first time this April in figure-
I've been working out 6 days a week with 1 hour of cardio-
My diet went from 730 cals to the following which I start (reluctantly) tomorrow:
1) 5 egg whites/ 1 4oz boiled potato
(Mrs.Dash/can't believe its not butter ONLY)
Not even a yolk!!!! I WILL gag!!!

2) 1 can tuna/1 green pepper (what can I put on the tuna besides lemon juice that's lean? Yuck! And- what's the point of the pepper?)

3) 4oz chicken/salad (my idea of a salad is just palin lettuce leaves)

4) 1 can tuna/1 pepper

5) 4oz fish- mixed veggies

Not sure I can even eat all this food in a day!!!!

Help!
Thanks! Mercedes

It might not be a great idea to stop drinking milk but there has been an awful lot of confusion surrounding this. Some people say that milk causes mucus that makes people look fatter whilst others suggest that milk can help one to lose weight. One argument is that a human being is the only mammal who continues to drink milk past the nursing age and therefore it's unnatural. But the truth is that milk has a lot of great enzymes, calcium and perfect protein in it that can only help in muscle development. And the more muscle mass that you have, the more fat you can burn. Plus milk has tryptophan which may help one to fall asleep and sleep longer. It's been argued that people who get more sleep also lose more weight.

..i started 2 weeks ago at 179lbs..and now im 183lbs. i measured myself and i have lost 2.5inches..but i dont really want my weight to increase...will it carry on getting higher or will it start to decrease at some point? i felt slightly better than when i started but im not sure if im doing something wrong.

can anyone give me some advice please? or tips? thanks x

A quick question about the book.

I'm diabetic, celiac... and am being tested for lactose intolerance (lucky, huh?) and I'm shopping about for a diet I can medically work with.

Does the program have steady regular carbs or is it one where you need to swing back and forth (which I can't do)?

Tishalicious, my mother's diabetic and follows something along the lines of the Medditeranean diet. Not sure how that works with working out, but you could try eyeballing it. It seems to work for her, and since we generally keep the pantry and fridge stocked per her diet and not ours, there's not much difference in what I take in versus what she takes in. I think I just eat more proteins and fats... She has a lot of fibrous carbs... salad, mostly.

Dear Ladies
I have formulated the world's most advanced & only complete nutritional system ever. It's a DIY general regimen ie you don't have to buy any supplements, pills or meal-replacement sh** from me or anybody else to implement it. It's very much suited for weight loss. I lost 6 kgs in 3 weeks even though i didn't wanted to. If anybody is game for this then just PM me by 20th March - I'll make a special one-off time-limited offer.
Happy fat-shedding in any case.

Hi! I just would like some advice and maybe some encouragement. My goal is weight lose plus toning. I have been on my food plan for 3 1/2 mths. now. NO alcohol, and exercising. Recently I started circuit training 3 days a week and cardio and abs 2 days a week. The reason I'm so upset is at first I lost 6 pounds and now I weighed myself at the gym today and I gained back 4 pounds. The pounds have been coming back on a pound at a time. So, I have been working my butt off and only lost 2 pounds. My husband is no help because he tells me to stop weighing myself and just go by how I feel. YEah Right!! He is a bodybuilder and wants to gain weight so that's fine for him not me. Any help would be great! I'm 32 and weigh NOW 149 and 5'4" I want to lose 30 lbs.

Been doing fitness and dieting since February. There is not a bit of difference on my weight. I do the 6 meals a day and 6 times a wk cardio and weight. I see some definition on my body but not a bit of difference on my body fat or on my weight. Any suggestion for me? I might just give up.

I totally understand. I have been working out for the last year and lost 25lbs. But for the last 3 months my weight has not changed. What's the deal?

I agree with you. I kept my cardio at 20 min max and tried only to beat my distance over time. It is really challenging.

I love the food you have here!

YEah Right!! advice from me... kill the husband, smoke a bowl, workout high, kill babies, and break puppies legz... YIPE YIPE YIPE

You mention cutting out dairy - is this a sugesstion for the short term? I thought dairy was helpful with weight loss.. What is your take on high fiber cereal (every morning - since it is processed as well)?

Thank you!

You said no bread.
I only eat organic sprouted bread. It is gluten free.
Is that ok?
