ok we have a second timer and I'm trying to figure my 40 time. it doesnt make any sense. theres no way for someone to start the watch the exact one hundreth of a second you start running. it'll always be different every time you time it. I've gotten times anywhere from 4.7 to 5.8 and I'm running pretty much the same speed theres just no way to get it exact if youre hand timing it. what to do?

Wow, thats a huge difference in time! Have somebody start the timer on your movement. As soon as you move start, then they will stop it as you cross the finish line. If you want to be really consistant try and get a electronic time done.

how accurate will a non electric timer be? like just hand timed. that may be one of the problems is I start on his go.

Soemtimes around .2 to .4 sec off really. what are they stopping it with index or thumb? Index I heard is better for some reason. Just go to a combine and get laser timed. No one buys there own b/c they are expensive.

well any ideas where to go get it timed? I dont think there would be any combines around here. or I could just test it like 10 times and average?

No ht is ht. Just ask a coach about a combine near you next year. for now the best thing is ht and just add .2 to at the least. The thing is you never know. Someone could be a perfect timer someone could be a horrible timer. That's why ht is no that great of a means to time. But its the best you can do so just deal with it.

that's a bad way to time. Your time could be from anywhere to 5.0 to 5.6 becasue you could just the gun or you could have a late reaction.

You have to go off first movement. But really if you are really worried about getting your time then you will have to get it electronically timed. Nobdies finger movement skills are honed enough to get it within .2 everytime

peopel tryed to jump, and coach won't count it...and coach still does it off first movement, they had 4 at the finish line timing each person, and then another coach at the start telling us the cadence...
still I wish we could ET, but you can't time 50+ people in a morning like that :\

you need to go on movement and make sure you aren't running with a big crowd of people. i would do 3 people tops because it can get very confusing at the finishline for the timers. also, make sure you run all the way through the cones/finish because that can dramatically change youre time. lastly, only run it 3-4 times tops. youre not going to make that big of a jump, and by that time your body starts to get tired and worn out and your performance drops.
