My guess would be about 2 days before. I have never gotten waxed but from what i have heard it can leave the skin red and irritated. Im planing on maxing my legs/ass and shaving my upper body. My leg hair is pretty thick so i want to ensure i dont get any razor burn.

I have never gotten waxed.
You're a lucky guy!
I am hairy and get waxed often. I am planning to compete in the fall (maybe lol) and I was just curious on the waxing.

If you get waxed often, shouldn't you know the answer to your own question? Sometime so you're competing after the redness and sensitivity goes away, but before you get any regrowth.

how is your skin? if your skin is sensitive and you get waxed you can be red for days, which tanning would only irritate. if you have problms when you shave your face, need special products, etc. i would wax 1 full week beforehand. waxing generally lasts me 2-3 weeks on my legs/bikini area, so you would still be nice and smooth for the competition and not be bumpy or red :)
you could also just buy an at home wax kit and try it in one small area to test it out if you aren't sure how sensitive your skin is
