Ok, I got my ass back in the gym finally today.
This last two months have been a nightmare being as busy as I have been with work travel and such.

Anyway, here is the plan.

NOTHING FANCY !

Nutritionally:
Eating at maintenance or just below Sunday through Friday. (50P/30C/20F)
carbing up on Saturday and having 1 meal of whatever I want to eat and drink.(gotta enjoy my summer;D)

Training wise:
A traditional split of....

Day 1 chest/tris/calves
Day 2 legs/abs
Day 3 Rest
Day 4 shoulders and calves
Day 5 back/bi/abs
Day 6 Yardio/softball/and family activities
Day 7 Rest

Cardio for 20-40 mins after each workout except for leg day.

I am back on creatine ethyle ester and a few other supps. LOL

My Goal :To lean up a bit and maintain and even increase strength, while still enjoying my summer.

Being the first day back in the gym in some time I took it easy today.

Dips 4 sets (10, 10, 10, 10)
Narrow grip smith machine bench press 3 sets (12, 10, 10)
Wide grip smith machine bench press 2 sets (8,8)
DB press 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
db Flys 3 sets (8,8,8)
Kickbacks 2 sets (8, 6)
Cable tri pulls 3 sets (12, 10, 10)
Cable flys 2 sets (12, 10)

kneeling rope crunches 3 sets (30, 30, 40)
Hack squat calve raises 2 sets (my style) (21, 18)
Rotary calve raises 2 sets (12, 10)

Only 32 sets .......oh ****.;)

+ 30 mins treadmill at 130 bpm

Felt Great the rest of the day !

After an amazingly busy weekend of Opening up my pool, softball and drinking and eating and of course socializing......I am fat and happy. LOL

Today I am back on track nutritionally and I'll be back in the gym tomorrow.

I heard there was an over 35 bicep comp shaping up, Hmmmmmmmmmm....I could use a challenge. I mean, after beating Bob C at this years Arnold in the Bicep posedown......I could use somemthing to motivate me again.

I am off to check out what the deal is on the comp.

Happy Hump Day Eve !

Ok...today ha been a crazy day to say the least. LOL

Woke up 3:30 am..at the gym at 4am

Skipping legs this week and hitting shoulders and abs today. :)

DB Arnold presses 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
side lateral raises 4 sets (8,8,8,8) super setted with seated bentover rear lateral raises 4 sets (6,6,6,6)
Standing rows ez bar 2 sets (10, 10)
Standing rows striaght bar 2 sets (8,8)
Believe it or not I found the stright bar rows easier to do then the ez-bar rows. I think it's because the distance between the ex-bar curls just isn't wide enough for my arms to fit between easily. LOL
Shrugs 4 sets (12, 10, 10, 10)

Supersetted kneeling rope crunches 4 sets (30, 30, 30, 30) with hanging knee raises 3 sets (15, 15, 10)

Next it was shower and off to the airport to Birmingham, AL........driving 2.5 hrs to work in russelville and tonight I am staying in Muscle Shoals, AL. LOL

Today's nutrition was goofy, this is why I hate traveling when I am trying to get serious.

1 serving of Ulitmate orange (first thing out of bed at about 3:45 am)
PW shake (44 grams whey protein, 10 grams creatine, 30 grams maltodextrin)
1 banana and a large cup of coffee (at the airport about 7 am)
1 diet coke + a small beef jerky (100 cals total)
1 detour protein bar (about noon) (I got a bo of free samples for being a mod.....I must say these are very good....extreamly low in sugars.)

Now this is where it gets bad.............dinner

7 oz filet crusted in horseradish........cooked to perfection.
a small salad with balimic vinigret dressing
a yam with butter on the side
2 mich Ultras and 1 glass of Zin :)

I fly home hopefully tomorrow afternoon and I can get my ass back in the gym for my back/bi/calve/WO to finish the week.

I need to takepic so I can formally enter this bicep comp.

This weekend I am hoping to take my bike to the shop and have them rid my bike of the hybrid tires and rims and put a nice set of road tires on it for me.
I still want to ride, but time to do so, this year is hard to come by. I'll at least ride the Bike Psycho's Century..even if it's only doing a metric century (62 miles).

Rob,
You and fitty both like it hot. LOL...........

The party I was going to attend tomorrow is canceled.
This is a good opportunityfor me to get my bike into the bike shop and get those road tires put on....Yippie !

Tomorrow morning is back/bis/abs:D and pics for this bicep contest.

Next weeks travel schedule looks like this......

Monday: fly to Cinci
Tuesday: fly from Cinci to LittleRock
Wednesday: hopefully fly home

I'll be starting my training week sunday (after finishing this week tomorrow morning) because of this madness.

You all have a great weekend !

Greenie, Nuc and Gun, Thanks for stopping by !
I am definately going to enjoy my summer, but I am going to make it more of a leaner bulk, if I can help it. LOL It fits in well actually with this Bicep contest IMO.

Today's WO - Back, bis, abs

A lighter back WO today as I really wanted to hit the bis due to this contest.
I will be killing bis and tris ffrom here until December.

WG pull ups 2 sets (10, 8)
narrow grip pull downs 2 sets (8, 8)
bent over DB rows 2 sets (8, 8)
incline db curls 4 sets (8, 8, 8)
bb curls 3 sets (8, 8, 6)
two handed low cable curls 3 sets (10, 10, 8)
one handed low cable curls 3 sets (10, 10, 10)

supersetted kneeling rope crunches 3 sets (40, 30, 30) with hanging knee raises 3 sets (15, 10, 10)

After this, it was a hang by the pool afternoon. :)
Took the kids to see "Over the Hedge", it was cute.
Then talapia and veggies for dinner.

Tomorrow I have softball at 2p and then again at 6pm. The morning will be Chest/tris/calves followed by Yardio and then a few hrs in and by the pool relaxing before softball.

You all have a great week !

Chest/tris/calves

Dips 2 sets (10, 10)
Narrow grip bench 3 sets (12, 10, 8)
incline db press 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
supersetted db pullovers 3 sets (8, 8, 8) with kickbacks 3 sets (6,6,6) New PB :D
db flys 3 sets (tied a PB the last set :) ) (8,8,8)
high cable flys 3 sets (12, 10, 10)
ez bar skulls 3 sets (8,8,8)
rotary calve machine 2 sets (10, 10)
hack squat calve raises 2 sets (my style) (21, 18)
bb calve raises 2 sets (12, 12)

+ 20 mins treadmill at 130 bpm :)

I like keeping the volume down and going heavy again. I will be dropping rep ranges as I up the weights these next 8 weeks.
Strength is going through the roof and I am expecting some really nice gains as well as a ton of PB's the next 2 months.

Let me ask some of you a question.
Any of you who have ever done reverse grip dips, please tell me how the hell you do these. I know they are one of Larry Scott's secrets. This just seem impossible to me. I feel like a damn alien when I try and do these. WTF is wrong with me? Wait a minute, don't answer that one. LOL Seriously any help on reverse grip dips would be appreciated. While I am quite flexible for a big guy, I am not a circus freak who is double jointed. LMAO ;)

I am off to get my Yardio done, then it's a dip in the pool and softball followed by more softball. The weather here is just gorgeous here.....75 and sunny ! Pool temp is about 86 degree :)

Happy Sunday !

I may have to use 100 lbs of assist. It just feels very unnatural to me.
Maybe I just have to spend more time figuring out how the hell to do these. LMAO........I msut be retarded or something ? ;)

Jag,
It feels great going heavier again. Amazing what FOOOOOD will do. LMAO.
Either it's the food or my free 30 day trial of Ultimate Orange (new and improved version) is really paying off. :p :)

Oh.........I am also on Creatine Ethy-ester (or whatever it's called)
This has to be by far the worst tasting creatine type supplement EVER MADE. This tastes like ASS. And I don't mean the good tasty ASS.
About the only thing I could imagine mixing it with that would make it only 1000% gross instead of the 100000000000% gross it normally is is some type of citris juice, and I won't do that. Normally I like to mix my creatine with my PW shake and down it. This **** totally takes over the taste killing it and making it taste like ROTTING ASS. LOL

Enough of my rant on this new creatine.......maybe I am just an old school guy who need to go back to the normal monohydrate ? I used the effervesent before and I like the results......but this ethyl -ester is the worst....TASTING WISE. Worst part is I have 1 kg of this ****.

Happy Monday From Cinnci. Actually I am in Kentucky at the monent by the Cinnci airport. I bet most people do not know that the Cinnci airport is actually in Kentucky. Another thing to add to the list of things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Not to be confused with Hmmmph........that is sexual in nature.

My tuesday was spent traveling from Cinncinatti to Clarksville Arkansas. Talk about the middle of nowher.

It looks like I may get stranded here for another day or two. Worst part is I am running out of clothes and this town may not have a laundromat. LOL............my SO told me to find a walmart and buy more underwear and socks,..........she assumed that because I am in Arkansas, that there is a Walmart in every county. Hmmmmmmm...I think I am in the one county that does not have a Walmart.

I am about to head to the gym.

Today's softball was all canceled due to it raining all night and early morning. Yippie.......I need the break.

Anyway, I slept in and finally decided it was time to get my bike to the bike shop. I have a really nice Hybrid and in fact I did my Century on this bike..solo....no packing riding. 104.4 miles of all ME :D

I asked the guy at the bike shop about putting road tires and rims on my hybrid and he explained it would be in the $300-400 range. I was like...that's not worth it.

Anyway, I have been wanting a Road bike for some time. The one I thought I wanted (Trek 1500) I saw today and compared in person to the Trek 1000 at the bike Shop. Anyway, I took the 1000 out for a spin (yes, this bike shop let's you do that.) It was awsome and have decided to step down to the Trek 1000 only because I am not sure I'll get that much for my extra $400. This year has been a money spending frenzy.....between a trip to the Wisconsinn Dells for the 4th of July, a Disney Trip in August (for 9 days) and 10 days in Phoenix area for Thanksgiving to see my parents. Not to mention the tuturing we have my youngest in ($8k for 8 months) and the fact that both of my girls may be needing braces ($5k + each).

My Money Tree in the back yard has still not bore many Benjamins, so I am opting for the cheaper bike. LOL

Anyway, at least I am getting my ROAD BIKE ............Yippie.
I am going to try and do the Bike Pscho's Century this year on August 27th.
Or maybe I'll find another one to do, I am not sure. The Apple Cider Century is suppose to be a good one. Hmmmmmmmmm.....decisions, decisions.

I am off to the gym to go kill Shoulders and abs !

Happy Saturday !

Rob,
The guy at the bike shop told me a 56" but I wonder if a 58" might be better. Before I buy, I am going to get on a 58" and see. The 56" just looked small..........I mean, damn it, I am not that small. LOL

I want to get a road bike this week. I am not a very patient person, once I set my mind to something. LOL (as some of you who really know me might be able to testify too.)

I am thinking of riding in the Sweedish Day's Ride (an awsome ride I did two years ago in a local town) on father's day (June 18th(. I am thinking the 45-50 mile option might be a nice warmup.

Wow -- that's too much gym excitement for me. I'm so sorry that happened. When Britt, Bri and I walked the Cooper River Bridge Run a year or two ago, a man died at the top of the bridge. It was so sad! He had a heart attack and his young daughter was with him.

I checked out the bike -- I think that's a great road bike for you. I would go with what size they tell you if it's a reputable shop and they've measured you. Did they measure you? They should fit you to the bike. Did they measure your inseam? At the very least, they should do that. Some bike stores charge for a fitting -- my store did it for free. He measured everything under the sun. :p

Anyway, the right fit is mega important! You can get some issues if you ride on a poorly fitting bike -- and they might not show up untill you've ridden a bit. It's took much money to spend to get the wrong size bike.

Nice job on the workout!

P.S. Are you getting clipless pedals? ;)

Pete .......... have you worked with this bike shop before??
Do you have confidence in them??
I agree with HIBS . correct bike fit is crucial .... I hope they measured you ..!!
Did you take it for a ride?? How did it feel?? You could also test ride both sizes and see where you are most comfortable and still feel like you are in control of the bike. If it is too big it can become an issue with an aggressive riding position and most especially if you are clipped in!!

I smoked shoulders/traps and abs

DB Arnold presses 3 sets
side lateral raises 4 sets (8,8,8,6) supersetted with seated bent over rear lateral raises 4 sets (6, 6, 6, 6)
Standing rows 3 sets (10, 10, 8)
shrugs 4 sets (New BP last set)

Supersetted kneeling rope crunches 4 sets (40, 30, 30, 30) with hanging knee raises 3 sets (15, 15, 12)

Finished off with 1 set of side lateral raises followed by a drop set of side lateral raises. I was smoked !

I did however opt to do 30 mins treadmill at 125 bpm. :D

Happy Day !

I did take both for a spin and the 58" felt much better.
I ended up buying it on sunday and taking it for a 11+ mile spin around the area. I am planning on riding 45 miles this Sunday in the Swedish Day's Ride in a nearby town. :D I was going to do a metric Century, but I have softball rainout games at 2pm and 4pm. Anyway, 45 miles is enough I don't want to overdo things. LOL

I am going to hold off on going with clipless pedels until maybe next year. I figure one change at a time. :)

Thanks for the Father's Day wishes everyone.

The family took me out for Breakfast.....Yummie...eggs, and all the fixins. It was good.

The ironic thing about today is 11 years ago today I got my first father's day gift. It was a top of the line big screen TV. Ironically, guess what happened today exactly 11 years later....on father's day to boot. Yep, that's right my TV went out.

After breakfast I prayed for more rain (lightening, thunder, all of it) I did not want to have to go coach the 2 pm game for my oldest and the 4 pm game for my youngest. While it continued to rain off and on for many hrs this morning and into the afternoon, It never got bad enough to cancel the games.

We played our 2pm game in constant rain...it was miserible. The worst part is we not only played horribly, but we lost by slaughter rule....(down by 15 runs after 5 innings). I don't think I have ever seen my girls play as bad as they did today. Worst part is that I know they are so much better then they have played these last few games. My best pitcher is still out and I think the pressure is starting to really effect the 3 or 4 girls who have been there all season and have carried this team (my oldest is included in this group).

My youngest's teams game it actuallly had stopped raining for and even though we started with only 7 players and finished the game with 6, we won 20 to 6.....unfreaking real...jerry's kids have a better record then my oldest's team.

My oldest daughter Vicki made the Allstar team again this year and will be trying out this friday for our travel tournament team that I'll be coaching the last week in July.

My training is going well but nutrition this weekend was a bit lax. I am very strong and doing well overall.

Hope all you dad's out there had a good father's day. While mine had it's down things that happened, I would not trade my girls for anyting in the world. Being a DAD is the best thing that ever happened to me.

I hear ya Brother.....I am here now and to be honest, I am not impressed. Other then the main boulevard here.....it seems like a more spreadout version of LA. LOL

This is why I am traveling with our reps from San Antonio anywhere I go. LOL
Also we are staying at the Sheraton right next to the American Embassy. This way if the locals go loco........I can get my ass to a safe haven. LOL

I am at least hoping to bring back 4-6 bottles of some really good tequilla:D.
Oh......and am only drinking beer, wine, tequilla and bottled water while I am here.

Have a great week all. Holding at 240 @ ~16%:D.....makes me muey Happido. LOL So far I am enjoying my summer and putting on a bit of muscle while keeping fat gain down. I almost look forward to the Arnold Cut......NOOOOT. LOL That torture will be here before I know it.

Maybe I'll get up early and hit the hotel gym. Hmmmmmmmm.

Softball update: My oldest played in her allstar game. She had a few good hits, made 3 really nice plays and even pitched the ninth and final inning. The game ended in a tie. The girls had a blast. Oh......and my oldest is playing in a travel tournement after our in-house tourney is over. Of course I am head coaching the team, but she earned her spot on this roster. I have a team that should kick ass. I have one girl who pitches 53 mph and she's only 12an you believe that ? Teams with this much tallent are a joy to coach.

I never made it to a bull fight but I did get to experience millions of people marching in a political rally in downtown Mexico city. One of the guys I was with just had to have these Python Boots the night of the rally. Needless to say it took us over 5 hrs to get his boot aned get back to the hotel.

The tequilla was excellent and I brought back 6 bottles of really good sipping tequilla.

I need to get my ass back in the gym after these last few days. I may try and do a day or two of full body WO's before we head to Wisconsin on Saturday evening.

Shelly,

Shots by the pool......Yummmmm.......now that sounds good. LOL Too bad I spent my 3 days working, stuck in traffic or in the middle of a insanely huge political rally.

WO's last week were only 2 day of training. This travel sure does get in the way. It's a good thing I planned to take it somewhat easy and light bulk this summer.

I am taking the next few days off as well. I have not been sleeping well at all and I am mentally fried. Last night was the first night in probably 3-4 weeks that I slept more then 2 hrs in one streatch. I took some NyQuil and some ZMA before bed and that seemed to help. I need to get some over the counter sleep aids.

I can't wait until Augst 11th when we head back to Florida for 9 days or the mouse, Universal and the water parks. I really need the mental down time. Work is killing me mentally right now. :(

No, I did not drink all the tequilla yet. ;) In fact I only opened one bottle just to make sure it didn't spoil in transport....damn was it smooth. Maybe I'll save one of the bottles for Columbus in March of 07 ?

You all have a safe Holiday !
Me, I am off to Wisconsin for a few days of R&R. Waterslides and family fun.

I actually got my as to the gym at 7am today.

I did a full body routine.....just because. LOL

Dips 3 sets (12, 12, 10)
Narrow grip cable pull downs 2 sets (8, 6)
Seated rows 2 sets (8, 8)
incline db curls 3 sets (8, 8, 8) (tied PB for all 3 sets)
narrow grip bench press 2 sets (12, 10)
side delt raises 3 sets (8, 8, 8) supersetted with seated bent over rear delt raises 3 sets (10, 10, 10)
cable tri pulls 3 sets (12, 10, 10)
cable flys 2 sets (8, 8)
high cable curls 3 sets (12, 10, 10)
Squats 3 sets (10, 10, 8)
hack squat calve raises (my style) 2 sets (21, 21)

did not shower races home and loaded up my road bike (the new one with only 11 miles on it......LOL) and hit the trails.

Boy did I haul ass. I think leg pressing 1400+ lbs has really made me able to power through the hills. I did the first 10 miles at a record pace. I have never did this streatch faster then about 18.9 mph for the first 10 miles.....I did it today at a 20.7 mph pace. Coming back is more uphill and I usually average between 13.5-15mph.................I averaged 16.2mph.

I am stronger then hell on the bike right now. The weather was perfect and I cranked out that 20 miles faster then I ever have before.

Of course after all of that I had softball games at both noon and 2pm to coach. My youngest, Valerie's team is still alive inn our in-house tournament....after an awsome win today. My oldest's team was elimiated today from the tournament. It's was amazing we were kicking ass for 3 innings and then it was like a light switch was switched on and we forgot how to play defence. Of course my Vicki gave it her all and I am very proud of her. I took the whole team out for Ice Cream after the game.

Spent the late afternoon in the pool and relaxing, after almost 5 hrs on the fields, a 20 mile biek ride and training at the gym at 7am. I am pooped but spirits are extreamly high.

I have a crazy travel schedule coming up.

Monday: Ohio
Tues: Back home
Friday: San Antonio
Saturday: Home
monday (the 17th) : NC
Tuesday: Home

Joed and Rob,
Thanks guys. My girls are my life. Vicki is so smart and so athletic and Valerie is so sweet and has the biggest heart I have ever seen. I am a very lucky dad. They are both Daddy's Girls and I am really enjoying them right now.

Today was a travel tournament practice in 95 degree heat. The girls tired out at the end, but did really well. I have quite possibly the 2 best pitchers in Northern Illinois on my travel tourney team. The rest of the team is a pleasure to coach. When I get to coach players of this caliber, I am like a kid (coach) in a candy store :D.

Slept in today from feeling so run down. We had our softball picnic on saturday and I was going nonstop from 7am until 4pm. Then the family and I were going to go to dinner and a movie, when the phone rang and we got invited to a bar-b-que with a whacky group of our softball friends. LOL...We had a blast !

The girls had an awsome practice yesterday overall. We had the whole team and some of the parents over for a small pool party. (about 25 people......LOL) This gave the girls a chance to bond more and make new friends. Mission was accomplished.

We expect a 1st place trophy.
Our first game is tonight at 8pm under the lights.
The girls are stoked and so am I.

Anyway, I'll hit chest/tris ad abs tomorrow :)

I need all of last night to disappear. LOL.

Yep, I can't believe we lost. My pitching was solid with only one bad inning.....a few walks.........a few really good hits.......and a few errors ended up costing us 8 runs in the 3rd inning. Before that it was a 1 to nothing game. With the exception of a few errors my girls played well. we hit the ball very well......very hard hit balls.......but all but a few hits were right to a fielder...........I mean right to them. Oh....well, now we get to play a total of 6 games instead of 4 to win the 1st place trophy. Next game friday at 6pm.
We just have to shake off the loss and come back stronger.

Hi Lisa Happy Weekend ! :)

Yesterday was another crazy travel day and softball afterwards.

I was up before 3am, left the house at 3:15 am and drove to Upper Wisconsin so I can be there by 7am. I spent 4 hrs at the customer's site, then drove back home. After about 500 miles and 14 hrs, I had to be in the neighboring town for the softball tournament.

While we got spanked our 1st game, we came out playing much better yesterday. Our Batts are still a bit lathargic, but I know tonight is the night they come alive like a dam bursting.

We won yesterday 2 to 1. It was a very well played game defensively.
My two ace pitchers combined for a no hitter. The only run the other team score was a walked runner who ended up stealing home on an overthrow at 3rd base. We went into the bottom of the 6th (last inning) tied at 1. My leadoff hitter out ran a good play at first and was safe. We had her steal 2nd the next pitch and two pitches later......she stole 3rd. The next pitch, my best catcher.......just drills one out to right field...........GAME OVER !

We play tonight at 8pm under the lights. The girls are starting to believe in this team and hopefully we can bust out our batts and we can hit the way I know we can. If we win tonight we might have to play 4 games tomorrow in 98 degree heat.

My training was a bit derailed with travel and now all this softball. I am going to get back on track this monday !

Have nice weekend everyone ! We are off to see Pirates of the Carribean since we don't have to be at the fields until 7pm tonight.

Today is rest day except for a few things to get done around the house.
Tomorrow is the start of my training week and I am excited about hitting the gym at 6am tomorrow.

Softball update:
Our travel tournament team lost last night. :( We were doing well for 3 innings and then bam...one bad inning (3 pitchers I went through that inning).
The goood thing is we don't have to play as many as 4 games in today's expected heat. Now I am setting up fallball for a good part of northeastern Illinois. We don't start until Sept 10th but I have a ton to get done to ordganize this for 4 different divisions (10U, 12U 14U and 18U).

Work update:
I spoke to my old boss last week about coming back to work for him.
He was extreamly excited about getting someone of my caliber and experience back. Well last night while I am standing by 3rd base coaching, my cell rings and it's my old boss. We both laughed when I told him I was coaching 3rd base at the time in a tournament. Anyway we are going to talk on monday to finalize things (money, vacation..ect). I'll brobably be starting back there the first week of september......and giving notice right after I get back from Florida (on the 21st). Yippie.......the end of this failed expperiement is almost over. LOL Given the same circumstances and opportunity, I would have tried this again......I had too. There are things in my life, that I have to try and experience and I will NEVER regret them. I learn from my life's experiences and mistakes and move forward. I have never been one to dwelll on the past. Life is to be experienced and shared.

Anyway, I am excited..........the light is at the end of the tunnel.

Happy Sunday !

Did you guys hear about the Bigfoot sightings down in Florida, recently? He was reported seen at Universal, Disney and a water park among other places. Scary stuff.

Hope your dad is okay, Pete!

Dad is doing well ! :)

After 2 hrs for the 1st surgery and 5 hrs foor the 2nd...he is doing well.
He is still unconscience but should be up in a few hrs. The docs said things could not have gone better. he is not totally out of the woods until he wakes up and we see that everything is like it should be.

After getting word that tha 1st surgery went well and that they had started the 2nd surgery..........I need to get out of that damn hospital. I went to my gym out here in Tempe (Lifetime Fitness) and did a semi full body workout just to help relieve some of this stress.

Dips 3 sets (10, 10, 8)
DB presses 2 sets (8, 8)
db flys 3 sets (8,8,8)
incline db curls 2 sets (10, 8)
bent over db rows 2 sets (6, 6)
side delt raises 3 sets (8,8,8) supersetted with seated rear delt raises 3 sets (6, 6, 6)
shrugs 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 7)
leg ext 3 sets (8, 10, 8)
high cable curls 3 sets (12, 10, 10) supersetted with cable flys 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
cable pulldowns 2 sets (12, 10)
seated rows 2 sets (6, 4)

calves were really tight so nothing with them. In fact in the lockerroom my left calve spasmed and I was in major pain. It's slightly pullled somehow from this and I am hobbling a bit. I couldn't move for almost 10 mins.

+ 15 mins stepmill :D

That was it.........enough to makke me sweat and relieve some stress.
Damn, that was good. LOL

I am trying to make the best of a bad trip. It's been great to see dad and mom. Dad I have not seen since last Nov....but mom was in Fla with us for 6 days of our trip. My brother and I have really gotten along well....yes, even after I told him I am quitting on him. LOL

Take care and thank you all so much for the well wishes for DAD !

Everyone !

Thank you all so much.

Can you believe less then 20 hrs after major open heart surgery that this old coot was walking around the CVICU unit? I am floored at how he is doing. Sure he has tubes everywhere and he looks like hell.....but his spirits are up and he is doing better then anyone could have hoped. The doctors are even slightly amazed. He is even eating solid foods. (not much, but some)

He told one of my family members on the phone today that he is "too mean to die". LOL While he is in a lot of pain still and majorly medicated, he is kickin ass IMO. I guess it's not only mom who I get my ZEST for LIFE from.

I did not WO today but finally got some sleep. I did have a few beers at lunch, just to relax a bit.

I spoke to a few of you from the forum today on the phone and I can't tell you all how much that means to me. I have some very special lifelong friends I have made on this over 35 forum.

Thank you all so much !

Dad is doing as well as can be expected.

Today and this weekend are going to be very busy. I'll be back in the gym on monday morning. :) My body needed this break, but it is time to get my ass moving again. the god thing from vacation is according to my scale my BF % has not went up lately. Sure it's up about 2-3 % for the whole summer, but that is exactly what I was hoping for. Of course I still feel pretty fat right now..........but pants are starting to losen up again. I know just getting back to eating clean and hitting the gym with regularity will do me wonders. Early November I am planning on starting with Protege Nutrition doing my diet for my yearly cut for the Arnold. I am actually very excited and in a sick way......can't wait.........but I will. LOL I know I'll come in even leaner this year. :) My goal next year, is to no only possibly compete, but to stay leaner going into the summer. So after the Arnold, I have to watch it. Sure I'll gain 6-10 lbs partying with fitty and the gang.......but after that it's back to work. LOL

I know this thread has run it's course and like I said, I'l start a new thread aftger labor day. But I will start posting my Wo fr next week here.

You all have a great weekend !

Powells,
Yeah, I saw the venue and in fact I saw what your team did to my Cubbies this weekend. :( Maybe next year. LOLOLOLOL Nobody is getting my CC this year, I am bringing nothing but my smile and cash. :D

Ok..................like I said today is back to bizz. Other then a planned bar-b-que (or two) this weekend. One we are hosting and I am sure at least one other we will be invited too, I am back to eating extreamly clean. I went food shopping yesterday and spent a fortune on some really great food, tons of chicken, salmon, egg whites, eggs, yams, oatmeal, fiberous green veggies...........Yummie. LOL

Ok so today was...."Get back in the gym and bust my ass day".
and ...............I DID :D

chest/tris/calves
someone was on my dip station and by the time they got off, my chest and tris were pretty fried..............so NO DIPS !

Narrow grip BB press 3 set (8,6,6)
DB presses 2 sets (8, 8)
DB flys 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
DB kickbacks 2 sets (6, 6)
ez-bar skulls 2 sets (8, 6) (tied PB)
Cable tri pulls 3 sets (10, 12, 12)

supersetted cable flys 3 sets (10, 10, 8) with high cable curls 3 sets (12, 10, 10)

Through in the arm work for the hell of it. I need to get a tape on my bis and take new pics.

kneeling rope crunches 1 sets (30) - I forgot today was NOT ab day.......LOL

Hack squat calve raises 3 sets (21 reps each set)(7 with toes in, 7 with toes straight, 7 with toes slightly out) A good friend of mine told me about these and IMO they are a secret weapon to build calves. My calves were frickin fried after this.........I mean total toast.

+20 mins treadmill @ 125 bpm

I'll be keeping cardio down until November. Even then, I won't go high cardio until Jan and Feb.

personal note: I saw the King Tut exibit this weekend in Chicago. It was very cool. I am an ancient history buff, so I was in my element. Afterwards we hit Greek town and had a wonderful early dinner there. Saturday just happen to be the Greek Town Festival so we spend some time wandering around and enjoying the day. Not a bad weekend ! :)

You all be good !

Hi Pete,

Good workout and I'm envious of your weekend visit to see the Tut exhibit!

King Tut (King Tut)
Now when he was a young man,
He never thought he'd see
People stand in line to see the boy king.

(King Tut) How'd you get so funky?
(Funky Tut) Did you do the Monkey?
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (King Tut).

(King Tut) Now, if I'd known
They'd line up just to see him,
I'd trade in all my money
And buy me a museum. (King Tut)

Buried with a donkey (funky Tut)
He's my favorite honky
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (King Tut)

Dancin' by the Nile, (Disco Tut)
The ladies love his style (boss Tut)
Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut)
He ate a crocodile.

He gave his life for tourism.
Golden idol
He's an Egyptian
They're sellin' you.

Now, when I die,
Now don't think I'm a nut,
Don't want no fancy funeral,
Just one like ole king Tut (King Tut)

LMAO.....on that song.
Man that song Steve Martin did was sure the rage back in the 70's.
I laughed at it then and still laugh at it today. It wa actually going through my head as I waited in line to get into the exibit.

The exibit overall was awsome. I saw the Cleopatra exibit a few years back and that was also unblieveable. I missed the Pompe exibit that was here last winter/spring.

Gunn,
I used to have 9 toes on each foot, but a hottub accident did two in on each foot. LOL. My wife used to work for a guy with 12 fingers. It always creeped her out.

Being I am an anal person, I am already thinking about my cut for the Arnold next year.

I emailed back and forth with one of the top nutritionists from Protege Nutrition. They will probably be doing my nutrition later this fall for my Arnold Cut. I am excited by the responses I got from the one guy. He seems very cool and he assured me, I would not be left high and dry the way John Hanson left me this past year.

Anyway, the dude I am talking with told me to continue growing for now and that regardless of if I do the progessive or pre-contest plan with him, that....."either way you will get shredded."

Now that's what I am talkin bout. :)

Ok back to bizz.........

Today's WO was "Throw Up Good"

yes, it was leg day :D

Squats 3 sets (8, 6, 6)
SLDL's 3 sets (10, 8, 8)
Leg Press 3 sets (10, 8, 8)
Walking Lunges 4 sets (strapped to 80 lb db's) (15 each set)
Almost threw up here........LOL
Leg curls 3 sets (10, 10, 8)
Leg ext 2 sets (8, 8)

Weighted Ball crunches 3 sets (25, 30, 20)
hanging knee raises 3 sets (15, 15, 15)

When I finished this WO I could bearly walk. While Volume was not super high, intensity was through the roof. I am stoked and plan on kickin ass this fall and winter.

I am down a few more lbs (240.5 still at about 16.5-17% :D), but it's from eating clean. I am eating about as clean as anyone can. Chicken, veggies, yams, salmon, tuna, more chicken, more yams, more salmon............LOLOLOL..........you get my drift ?

I am going to use this Arnold prep as a pre contest prep. If I can get to where I want to be for the Arnold, I will target a local show next year sometime.

Happy Hump Day ! ;)

Regular Dead and me are not friends. I never feel I have proper form when I go heavy and I am afraid of messing up my back. A guy I used to work with really messed up his back and he claims it was all as a late teen from poor form deads.

Actually a friend ;) and I were discussing ham glute raises just today.
I do Hypers but I am not even sure my gym has something to do ham glute raises on. I am going to scour the gym starting tomorrow to try and find one.

For me the mix of Squats, leg presses, sldl's and my power walking lunges have fired me most WO's

Remind me NEVER, EVER to hit the heavy bag the night before doing shoulders.

Needless to say my shoulder WO was mediocre.
Struggled with most of the things I did.

I did however have a wonderful calve frying. :D

Db Arnold Presses 3 sets (10, 8, 8)
supersetted standing side delt raises 4 sets (8,8,8, 6) with seated bentover rear delt raises 3 sets (8, 6, 6)
standing rows 3 sets (10, 8, 8)
Shrugs 4 sets (10, 8, 8, 8)

Hack squat calve raises (my style) 3 sets (36, 36, 34)
I increased for each set from 7/7/7 to 12/12/12 on the challenge from a good friend ;). (toes pointing in slightly/toes straight out/toes slightly pointing in)

OMG.........did I fry my calves. I could not do a single rep more.

Motivation was lacking today for some reason.

back/bis/abs

WG pull ups 2 sets (8, 8) (just didn't feel like doing more)
Narrow grip pull downs 2 sets (8,8)
Seated rows 2 seets (8, 6)
Incline Db curls 3 sets (8, 8, 8)
Bent over db Rows 2 sets (6, 6)
chins 2 sets (10, 10)
Kneeling rope crunches 2 sets (40, 35)

....tomorrow I start my new thread. :)

Today did not start out too well...........

I decided since it's such a beautiful day to take my road bike out and get in a quick 20 miles.

1. Coffee maker busted........no coffee :(
2. Broken valve on rear tire of my road bike. ARrrrrrrrg (I changed the tube)
3. No water bottles in the fridge. Room temp water is was.
4. Forgot my IPOD

Even with these things happening, it did not matter.
Once I hit that trail I was in my Happy Place.
I almost forgot how much I like riding. With the job change (yes, I start tuesday at my new/old job) I will have the freedom to do a lot more riding.
I averaged 20.2 MPH for the 1st 10 miles and 15.5 mph for the trip back (more uphill on the way back). I love my Trek 1000 ! I have decided to get myself some clipless pedals and nice riding shoes.

Someone in another thread mentioned Frog clipppless pedals. I am going to look into those. What sux is that I want to try on the shoes before buying them. I am really picky on how a shoe feels on me, besides I have a high instep. The shops around here have very little inventory left as the fall is here. I am sure I'll be checking with my cycling expert on what she thinks I should get. LOL

I have noticed my road bike has a much more agressive position that allows me to really power up those hills. I am sure I am going to have to get used to this as my quads stuggled a bit today on the way back (more uphill). I still averaged 15.5 mph coming back, so I guess I did ok ?

I have decided to let cutting the grass go until tomorrow.

Today, I'll Vaccum the pool, and lounge in the pool until we have to get ready for a bar-b-que at a friends house at 4:30 pm. We have about 25-30 people getting together tonight, all softball peeps. LOL I am sure some libations will be served. :D

Have a great Day all !

Hey Chi~

Great times on the Trek, my first new bike was a Trek 460 in 1985. Back then it was 6 gear cogs, a 52/42 and shifters on the down tube. We thought we were so cool with aero brake levers :) About the same time, Look came out with the first clipless pedals. Bikes have changed dramatically in the last 20 years.

The T 1000 is one of the bikes I am looking at now, but then, I have a super sweet and hardly ridden Fisher Aquila in the garage that I need to ride before buying another. I was riding the Aquila somewhat frequently a year ago and the SPD pedals were giving me fits. My knees ached while riding even after backing off the tension. My research led me to the Frogs and I need new shoes anyway. Check 'em out when you get a chance.
