Nice topic, wrong forum. A mod will be moving this to the misc. section shortly. There actually may be one in there already.
Actually, you may want to delete this before people start flaming you.
Just some friendly advice.:)

I see you are 16, if you are interested in training mma join your highschool wrestling team. You will get more out of that than anything else at this point I think. It's a school sport so you get the following advantages: won't interfere with school, can get good practice everyday, probably have good coachs that know there stuff, you will compete which makes you better, looks good on college transcript, gain you respect at school, ect.
What better to give you a feel for mma training than a sport that you can practice every day and compete in for free that teachs you the best ways to take someone down, not get taken down, and control and keep someone on their back when it goes to the ground?

I was watching the ultimate fighter the other day and the guy went home to be with his gf just because there was rumors that he cheated on her. He blew is career for some stupid rumor and he was only with this girl for 6months. All the guys lost alot of respect and the owner/founder of the ufc lost respect which is obviously a very bad thing. He can say goodbye to his career. He better marry her.

Yeah that guy is a bitch. He could have handled that situation a lot better. The sad thing is that she probably jsut got tired of waiting around on him and wanted and excuse to screw around with other guys. She probably broke up with him as soon as he talked to her. By the way Dana White isn't a founder or owner, he's the president.

It's especially bad that it's a gf of 6 months. How the hell did she suspect him of cheating anyway when he's at that house on lockdown and can't go anywhere? Maybe he's really gay and his bf got jealous he was locked up with all those guys. Regardless if your gf of 6 months starts spazing out like that and can't wait a couple weeks til you get home to discuss it she probably wasn't that interested to begin with. I think it was either an excuse for him to go home, or an excuse for her to screw around.

I'm hooked on MMA (UFC and Pride Fighting). It's so much more entertaining than boxing.
Hughes vs. Gracie. I'm voting for Hughes. I just gotta think that Hughes will match up well with Gracie's grappling, wrestling & submissions.Hughes also has the advantage of being a few years younger (7 years I think). IMHO.
Funny thing: My wife and mother enjoy watching UFC. Life is good.

I'm pretty sure I heard a rumour that B.J. might be fighting at UFC 61 against Diego Sanchez, but I was under the impression he was to make up a fight in which he dropped out of a few shows back.
As for Hughes Vs. Gracie I really have no idea anymore. When I first heard about this fight I thought Hughes would smash him, but really who has ever smashed Royce? This will probably be a close fight, and I hate to say it but may also be a very boring one.
LOL, yea saw Noah on The Ultimate Fighter last week to and man that was a very weak decision. Leaving the show for a g/f of only 6 months just didn't make any sense to me, and I read the note didn't eve nask him to come home, just that she recieved this "cheating information" and that she was "hurting" and "still proud of him". How weak is that boys? I would be like wtf if I was in the same position as him but man it can wait 2 weeks until your done the damn show. Didn't really respect him saying that it was worst then one of his family members or loved ones was in a car crash either.
Anyways like the idea of this UFC thread haha, whose watching TUF this week?

I love MMA and im a huge fan, I also train in brazillian jujitsu, not that id ever wanna compete in MMA though maybe in a grappling torny. Alot of people now are saying they want to compete in MMA, and most people Man I want to be a "cagefighter". But once they start training and see what it really takes to be a mma fighte...blood,sweat, broken noses etc, they realize oh it not for me. People watch it on TV and get the wrong idea, not everyone can be a fighter.

ye noah is such a nonce-case for leaving. im sure she couldve waited a couple of weeks, not like he was gonna get far anyway. they will have to bring back jesse forbes, which is good, i think he had potential and was winning the fight until noah got the sub on him. bisping to represent the brits, but in a way i kinda ant matt to win.

It was a bitch move on her part too. I mean she knows what he's doing and knows how important it is, and knows he can't contact her or do anything about it. She really didn't need to send that message to him when he is under enough stress as it is. Really bitch move to throw his mental game off like that, but it just shows how mentaly weak he is to give up that easily.

Yea I heard the Karo fight happening UFC 62 was possible as well. I think that would be an awesome fight. I'm hoping they give Diego a challenge as well. Either he should fight Penn or Karo.
You guys are all right in saying Noah was an idiot for leaving. I will say this about the situation though. I thought these guys were supposed to be cut off from the outside world? Why on earth would Dana and the producers give him such a dumb note to begin with? If he didnt "Give a F***" about the situation which he said on the show, why even start it with Noah? I have to believe that this was done to incite some emotion from Noah because he really didn't show much from the start. With him moving on to the semi finals, they couldn't have some passive unresponsive fighter holdin down the whole UFC perception of these guys being the toughest in the world. Let's face it, Jesse acted like a dick to Noah and he could have had legitamite beef with him for the way he was acting but he chose to let his talking be done in the octagon during the fight and let Jesse walk all over him in the house.
Remember these guys biggest fears were to have something go worng at home and the second Noah had this come true for him, he immidietly went into "I HAVE to fix this problem" mentalitly. He didn't look at the big picture. His best idea would have been to have a beer, sit with the guys and talk with them about this, I'm sure the other fighters could have straightened him out.
With this being said, it all comes down to Noah making a horrible choice and possibly throwing away his dreams....he'll have to live with it I guess.

I've seen all the episodes and I still mix up Rory and Noah, because they look alike, they're both weirdos and they both have weird names.
If I remember correctly, Jesse's main strength was that he was a good wrestler. He lost to Noah, but it was kind of an upset. If they fought again, I'd put my money on Jesse.

I think they're just pissed at how Tito seemed to be favoring him.
I think they took his comment about being the king a little too seriously, though. They should realize that the guy's deaf, so his concept of what's funny and what's not might be a little maladjusted. It was pretty obvious to me that he was just joking, and the way he went and apologized proved it.

I wasn't too impressed with either of them technique wise. Tait was good on the ground and came close to some subs, but I just can't stand guys that go straight to their gaurd. I don't think gaurd subs should be your primary offense, it's just not good policy to prefer to be on your back in a fight. Anyone see joe stevensons last fight? He kept going straight to gaurd and was getting demolished by the other guy gnping from inside his gaurd. Then at the very end he finally went for a takedown and was on top but didn't have time to do anything. Anyway, I think tait needs to learn how to shoot because his takedown attempts were pitiful. I hate seing bjj guys put their heads down and rush into the other guy like he did a few times. Learn how to freakin shoot.

I believe Tait was the better fighter. More style and he was more controled. Josh was out of his mind just swing punches. I cannot see josh in the UFC but I could see tait later on down the road if he learns a stand up game rather than just on the ground.

If you wanted to get involved In MMA what type of fighting should you train in?

Tait isn't nearly, NEARLY strong enough. He is a ground specalist and isn't good at all on his feet... yet he is too weak to get the opponent on the ground. That doesn't work.
Cocktail: Muay Thai and BJJ are both pretty good styles of fighting to look into. Also, having background in wrestling or boxing would be a huge benefit as well.

^maybe? I mean, I'd kill Tait in a street fight (I'm about twice his size) and unless he got you in a sub, he can't do a thing...
I don't know... of course, he's probably a better fighter than 90% of the people on the street, or something... but he's pretty weak in strength and cannot throw a punch.

Can someone explain to me their beef with each other?
I just watched Vendetta...and to be honest it's just been this year that I'm really starting to follow UFC (before I used to follow it on and off). At the end of the fight, Ken even raised Tito's hand, had a lil talk...etc-it looked to me that the spirit of "sportsmanship" was there.
But fastforwarding to now and watching the Ultimate Fighter, why do they still HATE each other?

it was after tito beat guy metzger, and he wore a 'gay metzer' ****rt or something that ripped the piss out of the lion's den, and he also showed the finger to the lion's den. ken gets up on the cage and demands respect and crap like that. then the police got involved to prevent a tit- lion's den brawl. escalated from there.
p.s. jesse is back, and using the words of tito ortiz, "he will be the last of the mohicans."
Thanks for that clarification.

Im glad Taits gone. I really didnt like that guy something about him. I actually thought he was going to the finals though because they did a little interview with him during the last UFC. Glad i was wrong. I havent seen this show yet though have to find a torrent. The guy they brought back suck to. I dont like that some of those guy have no respect for the house like breaking stuff that doesnt belong to them. He broke a vase of something then Noahs bb and hes like what early 20s grow the F up already. Anyway thanks for the info.

Also you have to understand reality tv isn't exactly reality. I'm sure they were asked to get in eachothers facs and feel free to do stuff like that because it makes for better tv. The show probably makes their beef out to be a lot worse than it actualy is.

Off topic but I tapped a 210lb dude at a party sat night, I weigh about 152 at the moment. We were standing a lil more than arms length apart and I shot and got his leg and took him down. Then he started thrashing around and trying to get up but I was behind him so I got double underhooks and pulled him down and controled him til I could get my legs in. Applied the choke and he tapped like crazy. Took a total of maybe 20 seconds. We were just messin around so he was cool about it and was impressed. His friend taped it on his camera phone too and was showing everyone it was pretty funny.

Not really...I wrestled for 5 years and went to camps every summer that is my main strength. I did bjj for a few months but I had to stop because of an unexpected move. I made my sn when I was in it and didn't know I'd be stopping so soon. I picked up a lot of good stuff though, learned a lot of things to compliment my wrestling. In that particular situation I pretty much used only my wrestling up until I choked him. BJJ was a good experience cause I learned the proper way to do chokes and other subs, and did a lot of gaurd work and learned some sweeps and gaurd passes. I'm planning on doing mt and mma over the summer I have just been to busy to get started. I'll probably go to my first practice next week cause I'll be done with school then. Oh I've also had a little bit of boxing experience, no real training just throwin on the gloves and boxing with friends. Enough to not feel totaly out of place striking, but I'd still get owned by a real striker. Also been in a lot of street fights in which my wrestling was all I needed.

Thats awsome bro. So what would you consider the best to know for street fights?
bjjwraslter7
05-22-2006, 01:54 PM
Personaly I really think folkstyle/collegiate wrestling is the best for street fights. You will be unbelievable at shooting and getting takedowns if you wrestle, and being able to quickly take someone down without getting hit and keep them on their back is more valuable in a street fight than anything else imo. BJJ focuses more on ground fighting, gaurd work, subs ect. and not so much on shots and takedowns. BJJ will usualy own a wrestler because the wrestler will get the takedown but they don't know gaurdwork and subs and will get tapped. In a random street brawl though I doubt anyones gonna be pulling gaurd and working subs. You just want to quickly take them down and pound their face in. If your goal is to choke them to death or break their bones then I guess bjj would be better but most people don't want to take it that far.

lol I read your mind, I posted that before I even saw this question. Anyway I think it depends a lot on what kind of place your learning bjj at. The place I went to was more competition oriented as apposed to self defense which made a big difference. It was all gaurd work, rarely did takedowns, and everyone loved being on their back which is not where you want to be in a street fight. If you want to use bjj for street fighting/self defense then train vale tudo not bjj. Vale tudo is pretty much a form of mma, it's like bjj except with striking and gnp thrown in.

I think when you get up that high in weight guys are a lot more sloppy, slow, and don't have as good of technique. I think that's why arlovski is so dominant, he's a huge dude but he's got no fat and he can move like a smaller guy. If your that size and have decent technique and can move relativley quickly I would think you would do well in amateur fights at least, but you need a lot more experience before you think about going pro.

I definitly am, I have ordered the last 3 and love them. Had a buddy come over last time, and now a bunch of the guys are coming over since everyone is home from school finally. Should be a good night of beers and fighting.
Also anyone ever take anything along the lines of kick boxing or muay thai? I really wouldn't mind getting involved in one of those.

kickboxing u have to be incredibly fit to do, but u find if ur good at it u excel in MMA quickly (with having other foundation skills from other martial arts btw tho..) - look at brandon vera, hes excelled in the HW division quickly, and hes fighting @ UFC 60 against Alessio (?) Silva. I would start with something basica like judo or jiu jitsu, then build ur skills and move onto another martial art like boxing or wrestling/muay thai, go for it :D

I'm predicting one of two things will happen. Either A. hughs will take him down at the beginning of each round, and it will be a battle of gracie trying to submit from his back or hughs trying to gnp or trying to submit from top... or B. Hughs will decide to take away gracies biggest advantage (bjj obviously) by keeping it on the feet and striking. I don't believe that gracie has the ability to take matt down because of matt's strength and phenominal wrestling, so if it goes to the ground matt's gonna be the one on top.

Wrestling and boxing is all you will need to kick ass if you get in a fight. Chances are whoever you get in a street brawl with isn't a trained mma fighter or anything. I've won all my fights with nothing but wrestling. It's incredibly easy to take down someone with no training, especialy if they are off balance from trying to hit you. Then you just sit on top of them and pound their face in because most people have absolutly no idea what to do on the ground.

That's what makes them so easy to take down. As soon as they start swinging lower your level and shoot they will practicaly take themselves down for you. That's why strikers have such a hard time against grapplers, as soon as they throw a punch the grappler goes right under it and gets there legs. My friends always use to argue with me about how wrestling isn't good for fighting because they would just keep backing up and swinging when I tried to grab them, and I kept trying to explain it didn't work like that. That's why I love that mma is so mainstream now, after seeing a few fights they have deffinitly changed their opinion.
bjjwraslter7
05-24-2006, 10:07 AM
I don't like greco roman wrestling and judo that much because of that. They don't do any shooting which is the easiest way to take someone down in a fight. Even if you shoot and don't get the takedown you at least closed the gap and have your hands on them so you can work other stuff.

Yep, dana white pretty much summed it up. For all the **** he talked and all the hype, he was not impressive. He was fighting someone with pretty much zero ground game. His elbows were not doing any damage to danni, and he didnt come off as all that dominant. He got rocked by danni right in the begining, and i think that gave him a wake up call to take it slow and easy, so he doesnt get hurt and to make sure he won, even if it was by decision.
I didnt like ed for all the **** he talked, and was hoping danni would some how miraculously pull of a knock out right in the begigng, cuz on sherdog, there were rumors that in a TUF3 trailer, you could see danni walking aorund the ring kissing his hands like he won, but i guess that was some bull****.

As for tuf last night...that guy is a joke. No real ultimate fighter would be celebrating the fact that he didn't tap in the first round from elbows and had to get submitted. He acted like that was some sort of victory. What a loser attitude.
Why the fuk was that guy even on the show to begin with. He had no grappling skills whatsoever. You can't win in mma if you can't grapple. I'm sure there are thousands of other fighters more skilled than him that would have loved to be given that opportunity.

As other people have mentioned already, I wasn't all that impressed with Ed last night.
While going for the GNP, it didn't appear that any of his punches/elbows were even making decent contact, let alone hurting Danny at all. And this was against a guy with ZERO ground game. Against someone who knew how to work the guard, it would have been even worse.
And that armbar wasn't anything special......with the way Danny exposed his arm, pretty much any white belt could have gotten that.
And remember how Ed was talking about how he could take Tito? Please......

Even if he hadn't handed him the armbar on a silver platter, he would have easily choked him out. I love guys like ed, they are on every show and they always get whats coming to them. Chris leben from season 1, Melvin from season 2, now ed is the jackass in 3. He will get put in his place and learn that he still has a lot of work to do just like the other guys did. I was real happy with how leben turned out I think losing a couple fights was the best thing that could have happened to him. It showed him he wasn't invincible, and caused him to completely change his attitude and lifestyle.

I couldn't get over that. What kind of a loser are you to go out there and get severely owned, and then go around yelling that you are a ufc ultimate fighter. He's like "I think everyone has a lot more respect for me now, I think I went out there and proved that I am tough and that I can take his elbows even when other guys would have given up" Wow you went out there and got owned and didn't tap from weak elbows and punchs in the first 2 minutes of the fight good job. A real fighter would have been humiliated and pissed off for losing so fast, not prancing around talking about how good he did.

That part seriously pissed me off. That Danny guy was such a douche. Did you hear his story "Yeah I dropped ______ pounds and then TKO'd the guy in like 11 seconds. I was pissed because it was such a quick fight."
I hate people like that. Danny and Mike Stine were the worst 2 fighters on the show, easily. Ed wasn't that impressive but he didn't have to be against Danny. Danny landed one punch and then cowered on the ground until his handed Ed his arm to end the fight. How could anyone be proud of that performance?
He'll never have a UFC fight. Fights on TUF don't even count as professional fights that go on the record. They are amatuer bouts. I'm wondering what Dana White was thinking by allowing Danny on the show. There HAS to be better fighters out there...

well if there is better fighters out there, ufc sure cant find them.
and they have scrapped this idea of new fighters for next season.
there filming season 4 of tuf as we speak, and the fighters are guys who are already in ufc,but have never won a title, they will not have coaches of course, but there will be advisors like matt hughes, randy couture and some others.sounds like tuf 4 is gonna rock.
and when you look at it who has became a star or a title contender from this show, forrest, diego but thats it so far,so i think this new concept of having ufc guys who have never won a ufc title is way better.i guess the winners will get a title shot at the end of the season.it starts airing in august tuf-4 on tv.
ps my pick is gracie wins.and vera wins to,i think he has a bright future in ufc,and of course diego wins tonight to imo.

TUF is sorta like American Idol, in the sense that as long as you make it to the top 5, your probably going to get a deal anyway. Fighters (Chris Leben, Jason Von Flue) just to name a few (hey, I ryhmed) still got UFC fights despite losing during the show.
I like the idea of a "tournament" show to see who can get a title shot. It's a nice concept.

I think the UFC folks would get a better lineup of contestants in The Ultimate Fighter show if they didn't require them to isolate themselves completely for a month (did anybody see that TV reality show "Big Brother"....it sucked). I say they should limit access to the outside, but complete isolation is silly. What's the point? I think they'd appeal to more fighters if they loosened up that policy. IMHO.
Regardless, I like the show and MMA fighting. Good stuff.

I think the only reason he didn't get taken down was because he wasn't throwing combos and big punchs. If he was he would have left himself open to diegos shot, so he just kept throwing quick punchs to keep him away. Pretty weak imo, diego was pressing the action and the other guy was basicaly running away the whole fight and getting some shots in here and there.

The Hughes/St. Pierre fight is moths away and I can't wait. I think GSP is more well rounded on his feet and I can see him catching Hughes with a kick like in their first fight.
On the ground I give the edge to Hughes.
GSP is my most favorite fighter to watch and I would be happy if he won. He is the Randy Couture of the WW division. Seems to be a really level headed guy who has nothing bad to say about anyone.
Hughes is on a absolute roll dominating everyone and GSP has improved since their first fight.
I would never bet on this fight. It could go either way.

This guys is like dragondude all over again...in fact I wouldn't be suprised if it was someone he got to come on here and help him with his rediculous claims because they were both posting together in another ufc thread. In that one dragondude claimed to have been sitting ringside and that matt hughs was farting on gracie and they were so nasty that it threw gracies game off. See... nothing but rediculous mma hating claims from these two. They are probably the same person.
Matt Hughes won the match no question, but used some foul tactics to do so.
Was at ringside myself, and had several pals who were backstage afterwards. Matt Hughes farted twice in the match , no kidding and they were said to be absolutely foul nasty smells. The ref. John Mcarthy laughed about it backstage afterwards 'one of them was reeking , I heard one fart and smelled it as I got closer was like rotten eggs '. I was ringside and heard audible violent fart just before Royce turned over & exposed his back; later on video you can see the effects of both farts on Royce. The first one was silent but Royce winces a little in face as smell hits him, John Mcarthy is hit with it too, watch his face; the second audible one was just before Royce turneed over to his front not long before end of match.
Look I'm not saying this caused Royce to lose, or that Matt Hughes farted twice intentionally but still its pretty grim and foul tactics either way. With tension in body easy to let one go but the smell was meant to be absolutely foul, and average person could well mommentarily be affected with the smell even split second being affected, might give another advantage.
Whilst I was at ringside , a lady next to me after Matt Hughes audibly farted said 'that dirty bastard Hughes has done that before'. After the fight, Royces camp were adamant it was Hughes that broke wind not Royce; I was ringside hard to say with certainty but would say it appeared to be Hughes that did it.

I agree with this. Rivalries are going to happen regardless, it's the way sports are especially combat sports. The fight on UFC TUF was horrible last night, worst of the season. Tattoo looked like a drunken idiot throwing punches. And Matt needs to learns submissions he could have finished the fight like 5 times.
Immichaelski
06-02-2006, 06:21 AM
True, however he dominated the fight. Mike was out of energy in 2 minutes, that was sick. He could have choked him 3 or 4 times, but it was only his third fight. If he reall was injured he may still be around, so far its billingsly and the tall lanky guy to me.

That was probably the sloppiest mma fight I've ever seen. I guess that's what happens when a wrestler and a jiu jitsu fighter go toe to toe. I think tattoo guy did real bad, he should have listened to his corner more.

I think Matt has alot of potential and I think we will see him come close or even fight in the ufc. Him being deaf hurts him alot. He cannot even hear his corner.

I think the tatooed guy was extremely out of shape. I agree that it was a sloppy fight and everyone saw there what a good bjj technique could do.
Also I heard a Brandon Vera comment earlier and I have to agree that he is going to be a great fighter. What happened to Jeff Monson?

I said in the other thread.........a John Ruiz fight would be more exciting than the fight last night.
Hopefully Matt's arm will heal and he can wrestle again (if he's even coming back) because he's not skilled enough in boxing to fight that way for long. Against Bisping, he's going to get knocked out real quick if he keeps dropping his hands and walking forward like that.
Mike was a real disgrace, though......he looked like he wanted to give up 90% of the time.

Why didnt he go for a takedown?
Cause the other guy was a jiu jitsu fighter...he specializes in ground fighting so matt decided to take away his advantage and keep the fight standing. Matt is so strong and such a good wrestler that mike didn't have much hope of getting him on the ground.
Edit- Just realized you were talking about mike, he couldn't take matt down because of matt's strength and wrestling. It's extremely hard to take down a good wrestler. His best bet to win was to let matt take him down and get a sub from gaurd, but matt new that so he refused to go to the ground for long.

Yea he didn't stand a chance in hell of taking Matt down. Really the only person who's going to take down an Olympic-calibur wrestler is another Olympic-calibur wrestler.
Mike tried to pull guard a bunch of times, but Matt would just back off and make him stand it back up.

Matt had so many opportunities to end that fight... it's his own fault he got hurt. Anybody with even one day of BJJ training could've ended that fight.
Mike kept giving him his back and his arm. I was surprised that Matt didn't know ANY BJJ.

Matt could have choked mike out so many times. Mike kept showing his back and all matt would do was punch him instead of choking him out.
If matt learns some BJJ and some boxing he will be hard to stop.

Yeah I was kind of suprised at his lack of ground skills too. Even if he's new at bjj, he's a wreslter and that is a position that wrestlers are in ALL THE TIME, you even start the second two periods in that position. In wrestling you win by pinning your opponent, so when it goes to the ground you immediatly roll over so your not on your back. So all of wrestlings ground game is in the exact position he was in a couple times, on the ground behind the guy. Wrestlers throw legs (hooks) too, so I don't understand why he couldn't control him better from that position. Even before I ever did bjj I was wrapping my legs around people and choking them out in a similar way because it's a common position in wrestling.

Yo, thats one BJJ classe and you would know that....dont they train him in BJJ on the show? I think most people that haven't even trained in it but watch MMA would know to go for the choke on 4-5 different occasions during that fight...rediculous.

Why aren't there better fighters on tuf? It seems like every season there are a few guys out of the group that suck ass, and a lot of mediocre guys. There have to be thousands of top notch fighters out there that would love the opportunity, so why pick guys like jason thacker, shonhauer, josh rafferty, the "IM A UFC ULTIMATE FIGHTER" guy ect.

I was just thinking.....if Matt is gone permanently and they're bringing someone back, I kind of hope it's Noah.
Only because I want to see how bad they rip into him.
I know it's a stretch, but I figure it's got to be either him or Solomon. (Only because Solomon was a character.)
I guess they could possibly bring Tait back, too......because his fight was the most controversial, and I think he was a better fighter than the guy he lost to. (Forget what his name was).

After his debut in the UFC, Brandon "the Truth" Vera calls out the "Ice Man" mic in hand while still in the ring -- the "Ice Man" is conveniently sitting ringside.
Next week "the Natural", ("insert pro wrestling named UFC fighter"), and the "Ice Man" will jump Brandon "the Truth" Vera in the locker room with steel chairs.
How many UFC knock outs come to mind now where people barely connected.
I HEARD THE "ICE MAN" has had his fights scripted from a reliable source,
VERY RELIABLE SOURCE.
i believe u heard it, i just question ur source...
i know for a fact its not scripted.. for example:
Chuck Liddel was the nr.1 contender for about two years in the LHW division, and it got to where he wanted to fight tito for the belt and tito was 'ducking' him, tito often hid behind TV franchise deals and appearances. anyway, tito fought ken shamrock @ UFC 40, and then to MAKE tito face chuck, they faced off chuck and randy for the interim LHW title @ UFC 43 (thinking if chuck won he'd have overcome another obsticle giving him an edge and he'd HAVE to fight tito).
well, this didnt happen as we know and randy beat chuck to quite a few ppls suprise, this postponed the fight between chuck/tito until UFC 47. this was after randy beat tito at UFC 44 to unify the LHW title. so if randy was out of the equation we would have seen tito/chuck a bit sooner. but hey the randy/tito/chuck/vitor belfort LHW era that year was very good :)
btw this was pointed out by dana white in an interview a while back, he wanted to push tito into a situation where he HAD to face chuck - but because of randy beating chuck this didnt happen. no scripts i believe ;)

He is a moron and deserved to lose. I like tank but his stupidity pissed me off. He should never have stayed on the ground it was stupid of him to do that. When you have a guy like tank who has very little technique and is more just a brawler relying on power and aggression, and put him against an extremely technical bjj expert what do you expect to happen when it goes to the ground. Tank was able to stop his takedowns, so the fight should have stayed on the feet where tank would have a good chance of winning. When he got on top of mir and tried to fight him on the ground it was just a matter of time before he got submitted. Tank just can't hang anymore, the days of brawling is over it's all technique now.

Was anyone else really suprised and pissed that nobody bothered to tell matt that he was out due to injury? It really sucked that he had to find out from his teamates like that. When matt's like "wait..I'm fighting in the semifinals...I won I'm fighting" the look on his teamates faces when they realized nobody told him he wasn't fighting, and the look on matts face when they told him was pretty sad. Diego is good (although i dont particularly like him), but i dont think hes near to a WW title because Penn/GSP and Hughes are in the way. Can he beat them? I doubt it....
Technically the nearest would be Florian? Hes 2 fights away from the LW belt?

* spoiler i suppose *
Herman got robbed. I am seriously pissed, he was way more of the aggressor throughout, got out of everything kendall threw at him and beat him pretty damn good. He had like 12 awesome takedowns, threw kendall around, slammed him everywhere. Kendall had about 1 minute of dominaion in the entire 15, some pretty tight triangles and a solid choke at the end. But I mean come on, I really thought ED had at least 2 of the rounds easily.
I guess in the end it didnt matter cuz everyone is getting paid the 6 figures, but I really feel like Kendall got the win for having done more cardio during his fight prep. It wasn't a blatantly wrong result, but it was wrong nonetheless.
what do you guys think?

I agree. He thought that he could take his strikes then land some of his own as he's so used to doing. He even said that he would eat Silva's offense and keep coming at him. He quickly found out that a punch from Silva is different than a punch from Rivera or Cote (still props to him for walking through Cote's before). He should have tried for the takedown instead he tried to trade with him even after he was put down the first time.
The other fights were good. I also liked what Joe Rogan had to say about the judges last night.
